Congrats, it makes things so much better/easier when you have each other not only to lean on for motivation but can relate to the experiences you are going through. My wife and daughter started committing to this healthier lifestyle about 2 months ago and we have made a goal to lose 400lbs as a family by the end of the…

Don't let it get to you, we can't pinpoint fat loss just have to keep losing it and eventually the body says ok I'll take it from this spot now. I can't really say I had a double chin at the start but more my neck and chin was just one big blob my head sat on top of. After 69lbs loss I still had a combo neck and chin but…

Picture on left was from a carnival at work in September 2012. I was @ 489lbs and couldn't even come close to buttoning the shirt I was wearing. Picture on right is from this morning 3/26/13 @399lbs wearing the same shirt I couldn't button 6 months ago.

Thank you, your words mean more than you probably realize. At the same time don't deminish the work and progress you have already made yourself. It doesnt matter if you have 5, 50, 100, or 250lbs to lose the commitment and dedication it takes to change ones lifestyle is something that should never be thought of as any less…

Do you have access to a pool? I actually did something to my knee about 3 weeks ago and have an MRI scheduled for this Thursday to rule out a possible MCL tear. Since it is an MCL injury I have still been able to walk at about 2-2.5 mph pace with just a knee sleeve with a stabalizer on the track at my gym but have been…

For me it was when I went to my doctor in august for a physical. Our work has an incentive program that you can earn money back towards what we pay for our health insurance. You have to get 4 biometric screenings (BMI, blood pressure, cholesterol, and blood sugar) and if you meet their standards you get a certain amount of…

5x5 Stronglifts is a heavy weightlifting routine you can find out a lot about it just searching stronglifts on the MFP forums but it consists of lifting heavy 3 days a week rotating two workout days Day A is Squats, Bench Press, and Rows, Day B is Squats, Overhead Press, and Deadlifts. The ideal is to do 5 sets of 5 reps…

This, If you find it hard to stay motivated to go out and run but enjoy swimming and look forward to it then you will see more benefit from swimming as you are going to stick with it and put more effort into it. Everyone is different and there is no right or wrong when it comes to exercise. Just find something you enjoy…

Yes it will get easier, but don't get down just because level 2 seems to be so hard. If you don't feel like you are ready for level 2 yet don't move to it. The 10 days at level 1, 10 days at level 2, 10 days at level 3 should be used as a guide. Just as you said you needed to do the modified push-ups in level 1, then maybe…

yes it has an indoor pool with lap lanes and current circle (not really sure what to call it other than a current circle but is a ring around the hot tub area that has a current that you can either go with or against depending on the time of day)

Don't get hung up on the 5lbs per session part. Work on getting your form down and the increase in weight will take care of itself. I have been doing stronglifts and c25k on m/w/f and then am part of a Lose Big program at my gym and work with a trainer for 1 hour sessions on S/T/Th for 8 weeks now and I can say that I have…

Or read New Rules of Weightlifting for Women, I have been doing Stronglifts 5x5 fo a while and my 13year old daughter started lifting with me 5 weeks ago but on a 3x5 routine and my wife started having many of the same questions you seem to have after she has started seeing some of the progression in our daughter. I am not…

I am so glad I have started this program. I used to lift back in high school/college fro football and wrestling but nothing really as structured as this was more just hey no need to lift more than 225 on bench just do it as many times as you can and then work down doing sets until exhaustion and then do the same thing with…

Does your gym have an indoor pool? This is a great way to get a good cardio workout without putting any extra stress on your knee, also be a good way to help entertain the 2 year old while still getting a workout. Also if no pool at the gym but you can still find time to go check and see if your gym has one of the…

This really depends on what your long term goals are, if you are training for endurance (marathon, triathlon, etc) then you would want to probably start with cardio first so you can concentrate you efforts on cardio training. But if you are wanting to burn more fat I would recomend lifting first followed by 30-45 minutes…

That sounds really high for what you state they have, if you are just looking for some cardio equipment and some machines to use may want to see if a planet fitness is in your area they are only about $10 a month. Would also look to see if there is rec center or YMCA in your area. I grew up in a really small town that…

Muscle does not weigh more than fat, any more than a pound of lead weighs more than a pound of feathers. A pound is a pound is a pound. Muscle is much more dense than fat, so, by volume, it seems to weigh more. A pound of muscle occupies less space than a pound of fat. This is why someone could stay the same weight as far…

As a few others have said check to see if there is a Planet Fitness near you. www.planetfitness.com

Thanks, the circuit training is part of the Lose Big program I am doing. It is mixed in with the cardio. I can definatly feel the fatigue with doing the Lose Big program 3 days and then starting the 5x5 3 days. Think I will back off the 5x5 until the Lose Big program is done to give my body the proper recovery time. Thanks…
