  • I had a hard time getting motivated yesterday. It was dark and raining here and I love that kind of weather! But I love it for snuggling up on the couch with a good book and a cup of tea, not squatting heavy weights in the garage. But I told myself, "Self, just go do it, just this once! Just for today, you don't have to…
  • The oven roasted brussel sprouts I'm eating right now. I love brussel sprouts!
  • It depends on the severity of the headache for me. If it's a full blown migraine I'm not working out. Some of the milder headaches will actually go away for me if I do a mild exercise. I don't get as many headaches since I've figured out some of the things I can't eat. My 13 year old son and my oldest daughter used to get…
  • I am newer at weight lifting but it's my favorite form of exercise (done it off and on for years but this is my first time with a focused plan.) I eat at least 1800 but often more depending on what I've been doing or how hungry I am. I have weight to lose but I am going a very slow route because I can never stick with…
  • I don't know that I would meet societies standards of acceptable but nobody has run screaming and my husband still seems to be attracted to be. I can shower, dress, hair and makeup in less than 20 minutes if necessary but usually take about 45 minutes, maybe an hour if I'm being leisurely but both those times do include a…
  • I have four kids so there are many to choose from. Here are a couple of recent ones. I mentioned that I needed to get some shampoo and my 13 year old son asked if we "could get some manly smelling shampoo? I'm tired if smelling like a fruit salad!" He now has some manly shampoo and us girls will keep our "fruit salad"…
  • It's squash season and squash has A LOT of potassium. I love eating half an acorn squash for lunch and it has almost 900 mg in 200 grams of cooked squash. Coffee also has a good amount, leafy greens and meat are also good sources. I think we eat more potassium than we realize.
  • I love corn popped in coconut oil with some butter on it. So good!
  • Usually it involves waffles. The waffle recipe I use is grain free so it's made with almond flour. My waffle maker does Belgian style squares and it works out to be about 329 calories for one square and that's without any toppings or anything. Add some fruit and whipping cream and you've got plenty of calories!
  • It's okay not to want to have kids. I had three kids and then thought I was done. I got motivated and lost almost 50 pounds and was so happy with how I was progressing. Then I found out I was pregnant and I cried. I'll be honest that it took me a little time to come to grips with the situation because I really was ready to…
  • Well I'm gluten free so I don't do bread and I can't eat night shades so the tomatoes are out but the bacon sounds good! :D I'll just eat 179 calories worth of bacon.
  • I bribed my husband into going to the gym by promising him I'd wear yoga pants every time. :blushing:
  • It can be really hard when you read the message boards and people are all doing different things. Picking one thing to focus on is a good idea but I would also say, set a goal for yourself. To help get myself consistent I decided to do strong lifts for a minimum of 12 weeks. I do want to lose weight but I want to be strong…
  • Anything you can make with rice I just use quinoa instead. Now the possibilities are endless. Here's one that's made with rice but I'm going to make it with quinoa. I've had it with rice and it's sooooo good! http://www.budgetbytes.com/2013/09/cashew-rice-pilaf/
  • My knight wears flannel and carhartt's.
  • Today I squatted 103 pounds, overhead pressed 73 pounds (that's more than my 9 year old weighs!) and dead lifted 107. These were all personal bests so it was pretty exciting for me. :)
  • I had a donut yesterday. It was the first time in two years! I am gluten free so I usually have to avoid them but I really love apple fritters. We stopped somewhere that had Caramel Apple Fritters and I just couldn't resist. I didn't feel good the rest of the day but I savored every bite and I'm not sorry! I have no idea…
  • I'm no expert and I'm certain others will join in but when I first began exercising I concentrated on walking. It's pretty mild, gets you off your butt and if you walk with good posture will begin helping the core as well as the legs. It's also very easy to increase intensity as you progress just by speeding up a little or…
  • I used to be bothered by how much I sweat, now I just let it flow! I can't stop it so why worry about it.
  • I haven't personally but I have a friend who was at the gym and had an emotional rush like that. For her it was anger though. She was suddenly, out of the blue intensely angry! She actually stopped her workout and left the gym over it. Her trainer told her that can happen when you're in an intense workout and it's not…
  • My husband; rugged, hairy, bearded, big, manly with calloused hands. He was taking something apart one day and I noticed how corded the muscles in his forearms were. I almost embarrassed myself considering he was helping a client at the time and I was all discombobulated! That said, I do like a nicely dressed man too. I…
  • Last summer we stopped for gas at the station in our little town. It was a very hot summer afternoon and as we pulled in I noticed our car was smoking. I mentioned it to my husband and when he got out to check he realized our car was on fire! I ran inside to find a fire extinguisher** while he put the car in neutral and…
  • I haven't gotten around to taking pictures but my husband just built me a power rack for less than $200. I've picked up weight off of craigslist, garage sales or Play It Again Sports. I also cleaned out my shed and traded a bunch of stuff we don't use for an Olympic Bar at Play it Again so nothing out of pocket for that. I…
  • People are going to notice what they will and there isn't much we can do about it. Just be glad your husband works hard to make sure you get some credit. :) My husband hasn't done anything to work on health or fitness just yet. He did finally agree to join a gym with me and we'll be working out together so I'm excited…
  • I'm having one of those days today! I'm like a bottomless pit!
  • I can't do gluten so there are several things I wish I could still have. Probably the top of the list is the pumpkin walnut fritter they occasionally carry at Frost Donuts in the fall. I'd suffer the consequences of eating gluten to have one of those again!
  • Nice! My husband just built me one for my birthday! He told me that if we have an earthquake the safest place in our house is the power rack!
  • We sometimes use paleo waffles for "bread". Maybe that could work?
  • "I don't have time" as he sits on the couch watching you tube videos of things being blown up. "I wouldn't know how to go about it" Really? Because I've shown you MFP, downloaded the app for you, showed you a gazillion exercises, bought DVD's, offered to work out with you... and yet there you sit. Oh and my friend who goes…
