  • I've been doing it for almost a year and I am quite enjoying it. Those first couple of months can be pretty frustrating as you're trying to figure out this new "language" but it slowly starts coming together. I still suck but at least I know some basic stuff now.
  • I'm new to this group and mostly just lurk. I'm about 2 months into keto and have found that the electrolytes are the key for me. I do weight lifting, BJJ and kickboxing. Yesterday was an hour of KB in the morning and 90 minutes of BJJ in the evening with about 40 minutes of hard rolling. I made sure I was hydrated and…
  • My husband and I have been eating this way for just under two months. We switched to Keto because of his prediabetic state and I have fibromyalgia. I'd read that many people find pain relief by eating very low carb diets and I was getting desperate to find some pain relief that didn't involve pills. As of yesterday, he's…
  • I have a DVD that has helped mine immensely. If I would just do it consistently, I'd probably be pain free. :| The DVD is called: Viniyoga Therapy for the Low Back, Sacrum & Hips with Gary Kraftsow
  • I have been struggling with mine for the past several months. I won't do meds so I've tried a variety of different diets trying to see if one helps more than others. I've learned that some things trigger me, like night shades and especially potatoes. If I eat any potato I'm miserable within an hour. To a lesser degree the…
  • I had mine out about 14 years ago and have no trouble with Keto. If you do have issues you can get ox bile or digestive enzymes and they help. You take one with your meal and it give you the little extra you need to digest your food since you don't have a gall bladder to do it for you.
  • Sure, I'm open to it. :)
  • Thank you! My brain knows full well that eating is not the answer but my emotions were disagreeing. :D I would have gone to the gym and lifted but I couldn't leave until the septic guy came. Thankfully, he fit me in and all it was is a clogged filter! He didn't even charge me so that definitely improved my mood too! Now at…
  • Have you talked to your doctor about what's occurring? Have you had a change in diet? I'm sure you know certain foods can be problematic when you're on blood thinners. If you've increased any of those foods in your diet you might be having interaction issues. I'm not one who says "rush to the doctor" at every little thing…
  • I do kickboxing and LOVE it! We hit and kick pads that our partner holds, or the bags. It's a fast paced, dripping sweat, "I may need to crawl to the car" workout and so much fun!
  • Mike O'hearn started at 14. I don't think it stunted his growth.
  • Canyon Bakehouse white bread is pretty good in a toasted cheese sandwich. I also used it to make pizza bites (kind of like bagel bites). I cut out a circle of the bread and put it in a muffin cup. Then I put a couple of mini pepperoni's in the bottom, topped with pizza sauce, shredded mozzarella and a couple more…
  • There are SO many tasty options on Keto! There are a few FB groups that I've found extremely helpful for information and support. I'm in the LC group here too and if you search Pinterest for Keto recipes you will find so many options! I have some food limitations because I have IBS so a few of the low carb staples are off…
  • I've never heard that having a darker color means you're eating too much fat but I have read several times that it can show you are dehydrated. I know from my own personal experience that can be true. Fat doesn't seem to make a difference for me with them. One thing to note, as your body becomes more fat adapted, it will…
  • I don't want to wade into the arguments. Here is a very helpful link for those who feel the need to go gluten free for whatever reason. If you want further help you can feel free to PM me. I have been GF for more than five years. I did not have a blood test to validate me and I absolutely wish I could just eat whatever I…
  • Torrid is excellent for curvy body shapes. They have sizes from 10 to 6x. I'm a 12 and get quite a few things from there, they have such pretty stuff!
  • Do you have a target? "cut carbs and sugar" is kind of ambiguous so it's hard to help. If you've been eating a lot of carbs those first few days to a week can be kind of rough. There are things you can do to help the transition but without more info on how you need to eat, it's hard to help. You may not need to go low…
  • I batch cook our lunches and do the same thing. Last week I grilled chicken breast on the BBQ along with some peppers, onions and zucchini. Then I divided that up into all our lunch containers and when we warmed them up we had the option of adding cheese and/or sour cream. This week I'm going to stir fry some low carb…
  • I haven't seen Lethal Lace mentioned so I'll throw it out there. I haven't used it but it looks interesting and very flexible. I'm just not sure how easy it would be to draw with it and I've never seen it in person. That little carry pack looked very interesting! I do Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, kickboxing and carry because we…
  • Some other things you can do: celery seed extract or drinking celery juice is good for lowering. Beets or beet juice is also helpful. I've done beet juice shots and my BP is lower with this and the added benefit is, if I drink it right before working out I get a better workout. Some endurance athletes drink beet juice…
  • Have you had your blood sugars checked? One underlying cause of high blood pressure is uncontrolled blood sugar. That's not to say that it's true for everyone but it is in many cases; get the blood sugar stable and often the blood pressure comes down on its own. Alcohol effects the blood sugar and can raise it…
  • I am just starting Keto too. I'm not sure if I'll stay with it long term or not, it will depend on how I feel. I tried it once before but I think I gave up before I got out of the crappy stage and into the feeling awesome stage I keep reading about. I feel a little more informed about what to expect this time so I'm…
  • Potassium isn't something that's required on labels so often times what we log has it but it's not accounted for. I keep an eye on my potassium because it helps regulate my blood pressure. Most all food has at least some potassium but foods with higher amounts would be leafy greens, potatoes, sweet potatoes and squash.…
  • There is a HUGE IP group on Facebook. Tons of recipes and lots of people to answer questions. My favorite thing to make in mine (I have two) is ribs. I cook them in the IP and finish them in the oven. I also like to make sweet potatoes in mine and my kids like to do rice in it. We use our often (which is why I have two).
  • I do kickboxing too but for that we get to wear whatever we want. I do have a lovely collection of boxing wraps and of course my gloves. The pair I got weren't too bad though, only about $80 and I love them! The gi's are expensive but the quality ones are worth it. Add to that the rash guards and compression pants so I…
  • Have you picked one yet? I've been ogling them online to keep motivated.
  • Could you post your recipe? I'm interested in trying them too!
  • Time. And then work on strengthening it so you are less likely to do it again in the future. My husband has pulled his several times and all a trip to the doctor results in is a bill and him telling my husband to take ibuprofen, use heat or ice, depending on what feels better and don't lay around; exercise gently in a way…
  • How did they turn out? The mixture doesn't really look like it will hold together well but you never know! If they didn't, what if you used cocoa powder for the chocolate instead of the syrup? It would act like flour and thicken your mixture up.
