  • Wow! I had no idea what the fees would be! She is providing food and it was my request to have them do it together since she's so rural and they are just teens. My older one is 18 but they've never been overnight alone before so I prefer them together. Thank you for your input! I at least have an idea of what to tell my…
  • Started reading this thread and decided I want coffee! Now my sixteen year old is in there making me some. All of my children know how to make a perfect French press coffee. It says in the Bible to "Train up a child in the way they should go"!
  • I live in Granite Falls but I know where Duvall is, does that count? :)
  • I have gained confidence and the courage to try so many things BECAUSE of my husband. He's the one who pushes me to go try those things I want to do.
  • I always send people to this link when they first go gluten free. I found it very helpful when I first went GF. http://glutenfreegoddess.blogspot.com/p/how-to-go-g-free.html
  • I have anxiety too and I have found that the worse I eat, the worse I feel. I can't do a lot of sugar or simple carbs, no artificial sweetener and I have to limit caffeine. Exercise helps because it takes care of that extra adrenalin that's floating around when you have an anxiety attack and your body goes into fight or…
  • It will get easier the more you do it. Most of the workouts involve similar moves and she always has segments with routines that she builds on. So you might start by doing a kick and a punch but then after a few repetitions she'll add more moves. You'll pick it up but in the meantime just try your best and keep moving. As…
  • I had two pieces of chocolate cake today but I still managed to come in under my goal. I don't normally eat two pieces of cake in one day! I only realized after the second one that I was a raging ball of hormones but nobody died and now the stupid cake is gone so I'm not worried about it. Like I said, I don't normally eat…
  • I stir them into applesauce for a quick boost. I also like them in oatmeal and if I make a fruit crisp I always use the chia seeds in the filling. It helps thicken it and it's gluten free so I can eat it. Plus I feel like I'm sneaking a little bit of healthy into something that could be not so healthy. :)
  • You know what? Crappy things happen to a lot of people and our self perception gets skewed. You've been telling yourself that you're a monster and you believe it. You have to learn to rearrange your thinking to change your self perception. I know from personal experience that if you keep telling yourself how ugly you are…
  • I'm about the same measurements as you and we're pretty close to the same weight. I had lost weight several years ago before my youngest was born and at that time was 20 pounds less than I am now wearing the same pants I can wear today. Twenty pounds heavier in the same size pants doesn't seem like it would be possible…
  • So sorry for your loss! Welcome to MFP.
  • I know it won't taste like guacamole but do you promise it's really delicious? I recently found out I'm allergic to avocados and have been in mourning. :( But eating guacamole and having my tongue get tingly and my throat close up just isn't worth it.
  • You need the honey or other sugars to feed the yeast, that's what makes it rise. I used to mill my own flour before we went gluten free and all of our bread (as well as pancakes, muffins, cookies, etc) were nothing but wholemeal flour. In quick bread you can get away with going sugar free (though it will impact the flavor)…
  • I'm a baker too and while I don't work in an office I do bring stuff to church quite often. You are so right about not wanting it when you're surrounded by it! I've spent the last two days making a three tier zebra stripe and hot pink baby shower cake with frosting, fondant and meringue disks in it. All I smell is sugar! I…
  • I'm waiting for the children to move out.
  • Mine does because I told him that and that I've decided I get a point for every pound I lose and the points are redeemable for sex (and he can't say no to what I want.) So yeah, he's pretty supportive of my efforts. :)
  • I'm having the same issue but it's because I'm fighting getting sick. My husband just had the crud and a couple of my kids have it so I know that's what it is in my case. If you can rule out other factors like your calories being too low or just crappy food then you could just be fighting some crud. Others have pointed out…
  • If you eat anything with chicory root in it that could be the problem. Fiber One bars are also known as "fart bars" because they use chicory root and cause toxic gas in a lot of people. I was eating them when I was doing taekwondo and couldn't figure out why I had such awful gas until I did a little research and figured…
  • We dehydrate leftovers and my son takes them backpacking on his Scout trips. He boils water and adds the dried food to it, covers and lets it sit about 15-20 minutes. He gets a variety of food, doesn't have to eat something that will make him sick (we're gluten free) and it's light weight for packing in. He carries a water…
  • I asked for dance lessons (with him). Ballroom, salsa, something along those lines. He'd said he was willing in a previous conversation so I'm not asking for something I know he can't stand the thought of.
  • Go rent Magic Mike and watch it with him telling him all the while how great and hot they look. Ok, that's my own little vindictive streak that could come out in a situation like that (but I probably wouldn't actually do it.) It was very rude of your husband to say such a thing and you are very beautiful!
  • With me actively exercising and lifting weights, no. If I wasn't doing those things and showed no interest then yes, I might have been offended. He knows it's something I'd like at this point in my life though so I'd actually be thrilled.
  • I found this website to be very helpful when we first went GF. I have a bazillion recipes pinned on Pinterest if you want a link to those. http://glutenfreegoddess.blogspot.com/p/how-to-go-g-free.html
  • My husband was extremely picky when we met and was pretty much like you describe your husband except that he didn't make a public display of turning up his nose at food. He might not have lived long if he complained about what I made for dinner! I make one meal and they eat it or they wait for the next one. We do have a…
  • I don't have a gallbladder and eat whatever I want. I don't even have issues with excess fat causing problems and I eat a pretty fair amount of fat! If she recently had it out she'll want to be mindful at first of how she's feeling after eating and pay attention to anything that causes her issues.
  • I'm still not fond of having my picture taken but I allow it now without complaining. I realized one day while looking at pictures of my kids that there were very few of me with them or with my husband. I if something were to happen to me they would have very few pictures of us together and that made me sad, as I know it…
  • I have a body fat scale. If I stand on it dry I get one reading and if I shower and stand on it again I get a lower reading, probably because while damp I conduct the current better. :) If you're going the right direction don't let that number get you down. You're on your way!
  • I weigh everything not only for the reasons you mention but also because it's easier for me to lie to myself if I use volume measurements like cups. If I weigh it out there is no question I'm eating 156 grams of cashews as opposed to trying to squeeze an extra nut or two into a measuring cup. Or if they're little pieces…
