My husband stopped eating cookies and lost 30 pounds. He never works out and doesn't watch what he eats. I have been logging and exercising for a long time and it's soooooooo much slower for me. You can't compare yourself to him. Men just seem to lose faster due to size and muscle. Hang in there.

I haven't done beets in mine but I have done frozen bananas and those things are rock solid! I would recommend getting the variable speed if you can just because some things you don't necessarily want to blend at mach 2. I use the slower speeds for gently stirring things it or even scrambling my eggs.

It's funny to see this post this morning because my husband and I just made an agreement not to drink for the next 30 days. Today is day one. For me it's just a need to refocus and be a little more intense about weight loss. I've gotten a bit off track and have just been spinning my wheels for awhile so it's necessary. :)

When I started working out I couldn't even do a one mile "Walk Away The Pounds" DVD (which are pretty easy). Now they don't get my heart rate up enough to even feel like I've worked out (I'm talking the 5 mile version) Keep at it and you'll build up.

Mine love fruits, vegetables, peanut or almond butter (natural, no sugar or fillers. Actually, we make our own almond butter.) They also eat oatmeal or other grain porridges, eggs in a variety of forms (boiled, scrambled, omelets, poached, quiche, etc) They are also in love with string cheese and greek yogurt (they like…

I began getting stronger through the P90X workouts but what really made the difference was the New Rules. I've been gaining strength over the last year but the last six weeks is when I've really noticed the difference. The thing about squats and dead lifts is they work the whole body. So not only has it been working my…

We've been together 22.5 years and married for 20.5 years and I'm more in love with him today than I ever have been before. I'm sorry it hasn't worked out for you but happy marriages do happen. We're at the point where we have two teens, a tween and a seven year old and life is good. Still have things we work through from…

I'm doing New Rules of Lifting for Women right now but it's a book (and a great one at that!) The workouts are best done at a gym but I do them from home as I've slowly gathered equipment from Craigslist. I did P90X and if you have dumbbells or resistance bands it's a great workout! There are several DVDs in the series and…

I have never been a big bread/bun fan and have always peeled it off long before I'd ever heard of "low carb" or "gluten free". My daughter is gluten free so most of our foods at home are too but eating out is definitely trickier! We went to a favorite taco place over the weekend and you'd have thought my daughter and I had…

Make sure you're holding your head in a neutral position. The tendency is to drop your chin to your chest as you get tired. This can cause you to cut off your air supply and you'll get light headed. Pick a spot on the floor to look at that puts your head in a neutral position (not extended up which can hurt your neck, nor…

I think I might have daintily eaten my food with one finger up all fancy like. I'm sure you can guess which finger would be saluting (and it isn't the pinky!)

To those who asked, you don't feel the cottage cheese as long as you blend it well. If your ice is blended your cottage cheese won't be an issue. Just smooth creaminess. I just had to add to the flavor ideas that Sweet Leaf Stevia comes in flavored liquid form that might give some more good flavor combos. I made the mint…

I just made the thin mint one...Wow! That was really good and not only guilt free but a good way for me to try to hit my protein goal! Thank you for sharing!
-
I keep a bunch of frozen fruit and vegetables on hand as well as protein powder. I can make a smoothie in just a couple of minutes with minimal fuss that way. If you can stomach them while sick eggs are an easy and fast protein that you can make a bunch of different ways. Frozen vegetables and frozen skinless chicken…
-
I can't eat just oatmeal for breakfast because I always end up feeling that way. If I do have oatmeal I have to have protein with it (meat of some kind.)

I'm sorry for your loss and would just say, don't beat yourself up over regaining. You needed time to grieve your little one and that's ok. What's done is done. You have a fresh start on the weight loss front and if you'd given up completely you wouldn't be here right now. *That* is half the battle and you've won it just…

We're gluten free so we're safe from the cookies. If you want to support them but not buy cookies you can either donate directly to the troop (this way they get to keep all the money instead of a small fraction. The rest of the cookie money goes to pay the bakers and then is divided among other Girl Scout areas like…

We went gluten free so I thought I was safe from them. Then I decided to try my hand at making some homemade, gluten free Samoas and Thin Mints. They were amazing! Good thing I took them to a potluck and only had a few! I always *think* I'm going to be able to eat moderately but the reality is, I end up eating them all in…

I had to take last week off because my back was tweaky (from something else, not NROL). I've mostly got the kinks worked out so I did a 1A yesterday fully intending to stop if necessary but I didn't need to. Actually, I felt pretty good and even upped my squats to 85. Getting up this morning was to be the test; felt better…

I have the P90X DVD's so I do the warmup for the Plyometrics workout. It's about 10 minutes long and has you run in place, do lunges (no weight), squats (no weight) a few other full body movements and stretching. I like it because I don't have to think since I'm just following him. I also like that several of the moves…

Wow! Awesome progress!

NROL is a great book and while the gym would give you the best equipment you can do this at home. I have a little weight room set up in my garage and most of my equipment is used from Craigslist. I do have to modify a couple of things but most of it is doable as stated in the book. You might want to get a training session…

When I started P90X I had similar issues. It was just too much jumping and things for my weak knees. I modified greatly (no jumping) and focused on doing the lunges and squats properly and carefully (even if it meant not doing as many as the people on the DVD). Over time my legs and knees got stronger and I was able to…

I only have anecdotal evidence but my night vision especially improved drastically when I started drinking green smoothies. My husband noticed the same thing in his vision. I only wear reading glasses but he has prescription eyewear. Neither of us has been evaluated by an eye doctor, we just noticed the improvement. I used…

I'd have to sue you for that post (and trying to lure me in) but all I did was lick the screen so I'll let you off the hook. Dang Pillsbury dough boy.

Today my husband left work to come rescue me when my car broke down (again!) He got it running, followed me to the parts store, bought the parts and replaced the offending part so it was correctly fixed and then would have followed me all the way back home if I was really worried about it not running. (I didn't ask him to…

I don't think anyone has a right to be forgiven just because they're related (or any other reason for that matter). I've chosen to forgive some awful things my dad did but I sure didn't trust him. And it wasn't because it was his "right" but because I needed to be free of it.

I don't. I do taekwondo in a studio that's on a busy corner in my town. Two sides of our studio are nothing but windows and the blinds are kept open (free advertising!) I always look like a hot mess when we're done. Just part of the gig. I'm not there to look purty anyway so no biggie. Most of the time I go without makeup…

I'm actually the opposite. My deadlifts are heavier than my squats. Not by a whole lot, only about 15 pounds but still. I don't know how much progress I'm going to make on the squats for a little bit though since I need a power rack. I'll be getting one but until I do I don't want to go much heavier out of safety concerns…
