Hey hey, I also have PCOS and have been on Metformin for several years now. Haven't really had any negative side effects. The only thing I experienced was some mild stomach pain when I first started taking them, and because of this, my doctor had me ease into it - the first week, she had me taking 1 pill/day and then the…

Hey girl - I'm in a similar situation. I also have PCOS/insulin resistance (haven't had my thyroid tested, though) and it does make it so much more difficult to lose weight. From what I understand, you're on the right track with the lower carb/higher protein diet. Are you also eating plenty of healthy fats, like from…

I was going to suggest skinnytaste also - it's great! And if you follow the recipe, it tells you the exact nutrition info per serving, and how many servings one dish is.

I always had exercise-induced asthma growing up and played a lot of sports, so I relied pretty heavily on an inhaler. However, as someone above mentioned, mine didn't matter whether it was indoors or outdoors - it was triggered by the intensity and duration. So, I would 2nd the opinion of the earlier poster about seeing if…

This is true. Prepare yourself for some snark - and maybe a few helpful answers.

I'm not doing ketogenic specifically, but because I have PCOS (which has related insulin resistance), I have recently started focusing on lower carb/higher healthy fat/moderate protein. I currently have my macros set to 20%carbs/45%fat/35% protein. I'm still playing with the fat & protein macros to find the right balance,…

I've never really felt "slim" enough for much of anything, but that hasn't stopped me from going to the gym. I actually enjoy it! It isn't full of only fit healthy people - there are also lots of overweight, unhealthy people who are there for the same reason as you. I just usually use it as motivation - if I see a woman in…

Hey Sam! I'm 27 and have PCOS also - will add you! I also actually posted a thread in the Food & Nutrition forum earlier regarding what the best diet would be for PCOS and several other ladies responded with some good tips. Here's the link if you care to take a look:…

Diagnosed since I was 18 (currently 27), but the only thing my doctor did was put me on Metformin! No diet information or anything else - so I really wasn't even aware there was a better type of diet specifically for PCOS until fairly recently (basically since I started getting serious about trying to lose weight). Most of…

What does a diabetic diet entail?? Glad it's working for you!

That's awesome info! I've also had trouble losing weight by restricting calories alone. I AM losing - just losing VERY slowly (like maybe .5lb/week, when I have MFP set to 2lbs/week). I haven't really been paying attention to my macros, but after this info, it's my next mission. Hopefully I'll have the same success as you!

That's awesome! The consensus seems to be that the lower carb/higher fat/moderate protein ratio is the best way to go to manage the PCOS and its symptoms.

Do you use any other sources to gauge your progress, like measurements and photos? Since you're weight training, you may be able to see a difference in inches, even if it's not showing on the scale yet. Also, when your muscles are sore from weight training, they hold on to water, which can potentially reflect on the scale.…

Tall girl here! 27 5'11" SW: 298 CW: 273 1GW: 220 FGW: 175-180 (will adjust this as I get closer probably) Feel free to add me! Always looking for more friends who are about my same size!

Yeah, that makes sense - just annoying! Guess I just need to switch it up more to avoid that happening. It gets uncomfortable lol I vary the speed/resistance/intensity throughout the workout (doing more of an interval workout, I guess) and have noticed it eases up slightly on the less intense intervals. Thanks for the…

There's several other threads on this, too, if you don't get any responses here. I haven't done the DVD's, so I can't speak on them, but I've looked into it and also wanted to know what other people thought. If you search "Brazil Butt Lift" in the forums, you should find some good feedback that might answer your questions.

Maybe Jillian Michaels' 30 Day Shred - I haven't done it myself, but I've seen a lot of people posting on here that they had great success with it. It combines strength training & cardio, and being a 30-day plan, would fit in to your 6-week goal. Good luck!

It's not my favorite term by any means - and really, I don't like any of the other sayings/terms/etc for women who happen to be bigger AND good looking - but I don't really think it's something that should get under your skin too much, just because of the intent of the person who says it. Are they saying it in a way that…

I had an insane cheat day yesterday too! I do have regular cheat days - every Friday, after my morning weigh-in (doing a weight loss challenge at work currently). I don't log my cheat days, which seems to be against the advice of most people, but I don't really see the point (for me, personally). I know it's an insane…

You look awesome!! I love seeing before/afters from other tall women. I'm also 5'11" and your "before" photos look like you were about the same size I am right now! I'm also trying to lose about 100lbs, so this is so inspiring! Good job!!! I'm going to send you a friend request! :)

I've been on it for several years, so I don't have any issues anymore, but when I first started them I did have some stomach pain/discomfort, which my doctor had warned me about. She had me take only one 1 pill per day for the first week, and then had be increase to 2 pills per day after that, to help my body get used to…

I love this entire thread and its honesty, support, and advice! I have about 100lbs to lose myself, but it can be done, and we've done the most important first step of recognizing the problem, being honest with ourselves, and deciding to make healthier choices. I look forward to keeping up with your progress! You can do…

Hey! I'm in the same boat - 27 & PCOS. Trying to lose weight for fertility and also just to manage it. Always looking for more friends! PCOS makes it such a pain in the A to try and lose weight. My doctor has me taking Metformin 2x/day which is supposed to help. Feel free to add me! :)

I'm in! Feel free to add me! I weigh in on Fridays as part of a Weight Loss Challenge we're doing at work! Definitely trying to be comfortable this summer, too :) I also do 1 cheat day on Fridays after my weigh-in - I usually don't log it, but have been good about getting right back to it the next morning. I've lost 10lbs…

If you're doing a lot of squats, lunges, etc with just your body weight, with little cardio movement, then maybe calisthenics?

I'm a complete Diet Coke fiend, so I'm giving up pop in general (not trying to replace my Diet Coke habit w/ a Diet Dr. Pepper habit lol) This is actually probably the most challenging thing I could think of to give up. I usually have about 2-3 Diet Cokes per day, so this will be tough but I think I can do it!

Bump to read later. Endomorph here too :)

Thank you!! It does make me feel motivated to get back on my healthy eating now that my cheat meal is over. It was yummy, but I feel like such crap now lol

Yes, it is doable! I have PCOS also, and my doctor has me on Metformin, which is helping a lot. Have you talked with your doctor about maybe starting Metformin? I know it's a common medication for PCOS and helps with weight loss. I also hear low carb and watching your gluten intake is helpful for people with PCOS!
