  • I measure everything in g and have never struggled to find it on MFP. Keep looking, it's here.
  • Ooh, this is a good shout too! Thanks
  • Haha PROATMEAL, I love this.
  • Thanks All! Fairly straightforward. Another thread had a lot of people saying "Never do it" but not explaining why.
  • Just went to check your diary to see what you mean by "too much fruit". You've logged once in the past 5 weeks, and you had Mcdonalds. Back in October, your diary has Red Bull, fast food and potato chips. It's pretty hard to help you here. If what I've seen is typical then no, you're not eating too much fruit. In general,…
  • Yes, exactly! :noway: No, I ate fruit, vegetables, pulses, beans, grains other than wheat, there's loads. I have had chronic IBS for years and it was nice to give my body a break and work out what really affects it rather than guess. Not recommending it or anything unless you medically need to do an elimination diet.
  • Oh my god. I'm assuming you mean processed and refined sugars and so all the answers banging on about cutting out fruit and vegetables have gone the wrong way entirely? If so, yes I have, once. I did a January "detox" (dirty word I know but I don't know what else to call it). I stopped alcohol, caffeine, salt, sugar, meat,…
  • Walking and elliptical is about as low impact as you can go. You could try swimming? However my best advice on this is go to your doctor and work out why your foot is hurting. Don't just accept it and give up :) Side-note: My friend's foot was always hurting when he ran. It got better when he started keeping his trainer…
  • I tried to look at your diary to see what kind of stuff you like.. the fact is you can do pretty much anything to beg and make it taste any way you like. Why don't you try slowly adding things? Make a point of adding one vegetable to each meal. Maybe some grilled tomatoes with your eggs? Or some peppers to your tortillas?…
  • well done on the weight loss and congrats on the baby! You do look really healthy. It's nice to see a success story from the UK too x
  • This. Running outside is completely different. I am an outdoor runner and find treadmills too easy. It's a lot more impact so you have to make sure your technique is right and your knees are strengthened so do tighten the muscles around them, your quads, hamstrings and glutes. Make sure you warm up and cool down well. Good…
  • Really nicely done. Congratulations and good luck in your PT test!
  • Squats, Proper squats. Don't go into weighted squats without making sure you have the technique right first. Same with lunges. Once you have that start to incorporate a kettlebell or weights into it. Also a spin class did amazing things to my butt. Any bike with resistance would do it though.
  • Well done on your work so far. When you get to within 10-15 lbs of goal go to TDEE - 15% and when you're at 5 lbs from goal reset to -10%. This should help you find the transition to maintenance easier.
  • Definitely use the app if you're starting out. The week 4 - week 5 gap is a big one but y that time you've had all the positive reinforcement to make you feel like you can do it. So much better than trying alone.
  • My scales do this. I move them around the house until I get the same reading a few times and I know it's that one. Alternatively I did get in the habit of going on a pharmacy scale when I was really focused. It usually costs so stops you from weighing yourself too much.
  • I had the same when I was going to the gym twice a day, strictly eating 1200 and I hit a plateau. Not sure about putting on weight. Are you eating 1200 net? That was the mistake I was making last year. I was only ever eating 1200 which meant my net calories for the day would be more like 600/day. Big mistake.
  • Just do it. When I started last year I kept up with the pace but kept the resistance really low to start with. Each class I tried to do a tiny bit more, just pushing myself. Very quickly I grew to love it and didn't even notice how quickly my body was changing and how much more resistance I could handle. A lot of people in…
  • Also, to the original post, yes count EVERYTHING, literally EVERYTHING. If you cook from scratch then log the oil, the spices, the seasoning. Definitely fruit and veg. All drinks, if you have milk in your tea or coffee, make sure you log it WITH MILK. EG: A cup of tea is 0 calories. A tea with milk and sweetener is 25…
  • That's not quite how calories work. People have these stories about everything from celery to boiled eggs to grapefruit. There's no such thing as a "free food", but yes, it's much better to be eating fruit and veg.
  • Little American/English translation issue here but I think you mean gherkins? I've just eaten 3 gherkins and the calorie content is logged on MFP under their value per 100g. All of our labels here always have to tell us per 100g so even though 1 gherkin registers as 0 calories, 100g is 19 calories. Work out how much a…
  • what's your actual question? Apart from asking people's thoughts? Are you looking for ideas to get the sugar and protein level?
  • Just edited my reply because I read further down and you obviously get it now. Good luck!
  • Ha! It's literally the easiest curry in the world to cook too. You can make a massive batch and keep it in the fridge for up to 4 days. I often do!
  • Oh my word! I don't eat bread, peanut butter and can't have milk. This would be my worst nightmare :) However I can only reiterate what everyone else says here - that firstly that daily calorie burn does seem really high and is probably being over generous. Also I used to have trouble eating 1200 when I lived on salads but…
  • You look fab! Your waist is looking awesome. How are you doing it? (Also, lovely to see someone from London!)
  • Sounds like you're shattered. I went through a phase last year of hitting the gym 3 times a day. After 3 months of not seeing any changes I didn't understand what was going on and then I was educated in the whole eating back calories thing. Turned out I had been sustaining on less than 600 calories a day every day. I…
  • OK I disagree ENTIRELY with anyone saying that this will just happen because you're drunk and you need to accept it. You can change it. I don't have a gall bladder but am very social. I find alcohol tough to process and need to eat to make sure I don't wake up spewing. I USED to have crisps, chinese, a burger, regular late…
  • "Young"! I thought I was until I read this thread. 32 and from London, got some pretty good results though so add me if you like x
  • The simple answer is NO, you won't look manly. You're not genetically programmed to.
