I'm 5'3" and my diary is always open. I mainly cook food from scratch so feel free to add if you want to peek.

If you're not exercising at the moment then pick one and focus on it. Agreed you will get better results if you do one properly than if you try to do both without rest days but also both those programmes can tire out those who are used to exercise. Most people struggle with motivation half way through them when it gets…

Do you guys actually buy real gifts for Valentines? We just treat it as a made up thing, get cards at best and usually a little token or a gift we can use together.

Will, I know that Bupa, Nuffield and other Health Providers do them, I have seen prices and referrals on the Prudential website, but at about £250 if I remember rightly. But also, once a month or so there is usually a full blood test for about £100 on Groupon. Of course that depends where you are, but it showed me that all…

Have you ladies started? I just found the dvd I bought on a whim last year but need to pick up my weights from my parents' house. Is it worth starting without them for a few day or should I have weights from day 1?

How recently did you have your gallbladder out? I had mine removed in 2009 - it was full of gall stones even though I never ate fat, weird. I was told to avoid dairy, because my body wouldn't be able to process the fat in it. I still avoid milk, but have started eating cheese again sometimes, and ice cream, but it all…

BAHAHA this is exactly what I was going to say! In all seriousness, I weigh the same scale at the same time of day & week. I use a height/weight/BMI reading. I used to weigh with shoes on, but once took them off and it made almost an inch difference to my height even though they were flat shoes!! So now I weigh without…

Hmmm I get called a picky eater but I do try to eat new things and I am a great cook. We eat out at restaurants a lot and my friends freak out thinking about the things I won't eat, but I tend to be happy as long as there is something on the menu I do like. I grew up in a vegetarian house but eat chicken. It drives my…

Thanks! I also read the entire article attached "The Full Diet Break" - this is a fascinating idea. I was ok with a diet break over Christmas without any science behind it but it looks like I may have done myself the world of good!

I'm having a vegan month and finding protein macros really hard to stick to. I'm around 100g under my protein every day. Slightly worrying. I'm on lentils and pulses but what else do you use?

What are your cravings? I used to get terrible PMT and horrific cramps, cheese and milk were my main cravings. I realised that probably meant I was lacking calcium and sorted out my diet generally. Cravings are usually signifiers of some deficit in your body. I also agree with Evening Primrose Oil, it levels out your…

Fantastic post and a fab thread here - thank you. I also have Thyroid issues amongst other things so this serves as a good motivator. I think too many people use their issues as excuses rather than challenges. Many of us have challenges and we can overcome them if we stop using them as a default excuse for why we're not…

Thanks for this post - this is something I really need to get my head around, I come from a background of not "dieting" but due to various stomach/digestive problems I ate very low for many years without realising. I started stalling my weight loss in the summer and have tried everything, eating more, eating less, upping…

Yeah I'm supposed to be working this weekend. Will see what I can do!!

Oh. Deactivated account. Guess she just didn't want it after all.

Oh Lordy... I'm running my first ever race in April.. The London Marathon. I realllly need some training tips!

You have to want to do it and you have to want to do it for YOU. Unless that happens you won't get anywhere. When I first started on MFP, I concentrated on logging my food, then on logging my exercise, and it was a few months before I entered the forums and started adding friends. I was on here for ME, and only I needed to…

Haha I SO want to be in Tou's clique. I have photos. I can send them tounight.

I'm 5'3" - this is all incredible! I should really take some pics. I wish I could have seen the progress of the 20lbs I've lost already.

I made a cous cous with roasted vegetables and salad, with a few chargrilled prawns. My first time eating prawns!

All beans and lentils. Black beans, kidney beans, Indian dhal, vegetarian chili, split peas, houmous. Also quinoa and other whole grains are amazing sources of protein.

However - in reply to the original question - I wouldn't log anywhere near the 700-800 per hour. I strip it right back to about 350 per 90 minutes and try not to eat those calories back anyway. The best thing about regular yoga will be in the wellbeing and muscle tone you feel, rather than any calorie burn.

I'm not sure about this, I do Bikram and push myself in every pose. A few times in the class I get really breathless and I always end it exhausted. This isn't just down to the heat. I think if you are really in tune with your body and what you are doing, you can get a cardio effect out of yoga.

wow does this really work then? I just saw an ad for this for the first time the other day but it seems quite expensive. How long do you have to do it for to get results??
-
I used to wonder how to get around to this but the only way I could figure it out was by giving it a go. My gym is 10 mins from the office, I can shower and change in minutes, wear minimal make-up on those days and don't bother doing anything fancy with my hair. In my job everybody eats al-desko anyway so I eat something…

OMG this. Saag or Saag aloo, perfect

I think you are best off enjoying the experience and learning how to cope with these things. Don't eat before you go, if anything save up your cals for the evening meal. Eat dry food rather than a creamy curry, eg a tandoori chicken or tikka without sauce. This will give you a good protein hit and tends to be cooked in a…

I used to drink Soya milk but it's really hard to find one that doesn't have a sweet vanilla flavour to it so I stopped. Rice Milk is a good alternative and I've heard nothing but good things about Almond milk

I agree with using http://scoobysworkshop.com/calorie-calculator/ If you want a really good explanation of what BMR and TDEE are, this really helped me, and helped to work out the best way to use MFP: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/680246-tdee-bmr-what-they-are-and-what-to-do-with-them

Ohhhhhhhhhhhh thanks for pointing that out. :ohwell: However I will take the "quite small" comment thanks!
