My point was more about the number - most BMR calculators do actually ask you to input your activity level although it becomes more relevant when calculating TDEE. Over 2000 does seem very high and I wonder if the OP actually calculated TDEE instead of BMR?
-
There are people who know this a lot better than me so they can help BUT are you sure you have that number right? My BMR is just over 1400 and my lifestyle is active.

I'm 5' 3" but going to bump this for when I am 120lbs !! Love the www.mybodygallery.com/ site by the way!!
-
300? OK I'm in!! Most I've ever done in a row is about 30 before :)
-
I was confused with this. Your net calories is the number you should be looking at. If your calorie goal is set at 1200, and you burn 600 calories a day, then technically you are only eating 600 net calories a day. So you should eat back that extra 600 calories to get your net cals to 1200 again. I struggled for aaaaages…

Yes! count me in, I need to tighten the waist a little now :) I have gym membership but am working out at home a lot at the moment.

I'm a Londoner born and bred! Feel free to add me :)

I've had a catalogue of health disasters over the last few years, they are listed on my profile if you want to know about them! But last year I finally had the chance to take control and came on here to regain my health and fitness more than any thing else. Having had a near death experience and also a near-paralysis…

yeah I'm gonna bump this one too! Thanks

Cool, I think I guesstimated it to be around 400-450 per hour for me, which seems to tie in with the rest of you. I guess I may have to invest in a HRM at some point :)
-
Thank you! Sorry I have only just seen this. I don't know why MFP doesn't just let me know when people reply!!

This is great advice, I am the same with cycling too, would really like to race but can't seem to switch the "SPEED" button on.
I export the candidate's friends list and load it to may specially designed Access database. Then, using special queries, I run a check against "unclean" members. This reveal whether there are any present in the friends list. Only then, will I consider adding them.
Ummm.... what?

I added everyone that asked me at the beginning and did a couple of "Are you from London" posts that got me a good crew, but now if I add someone it's either because they have commented really well on something and I'm keen to see how it turns out, or because they generally seem very supportive. I don't look at the size of…

Yep, this. Maybe not the fewest calories in a day but maybe rewards for eating 5 portions of veg a day, or for going a week without eating mcdonalds or whatever her favourite food is. At 16, with quite a bit of excess weight, she will probably have thought about losing it but will not know where to start, so take the first…

Personally I don't count stuff like cleaning and shopping as calories burned, it's just regular activity so I feel like I'd be cheating myself if I put that down as exercise. However, if you do want to log it, I would assume it includes everything involved in cleaning, so yes the walking is included.

There are some pretty powerful studies that prove that men think and react differently to women. I think the big thing is usually that they are much more visual. So a woman will have an idea and work with it, while a man will work much better when he sees results. Of COURSE there are exceptions to this and not everyone…

I have always been a Nike girl but really rate ASICS - the brand is a real innovator in new shoe technology. However I am about to start running properly and am going to a speciality runner's store where they will film my alignment and pick the best shoe for me. Think it's the best idea.

Thank you, 3 lbs off today so hopefully it's working. Your loss is incredible!
-
Thank you all! I have been away for a couple of weeks, in NYC, eating Pretzels and hotdogs but keeping to the revised calorie target and today I have lost 3 lbs.. not sure if this is a continuing trend but at least it's back the right way. I'm feeling a lot more confident than last time I posted and very much understand…
-
But then you should be a little more understanding when people ask. Answer it or don't, but don't answer it and take your frustration out on that same person. Personally I can only use MFP on my phone usually so I can't see any forums.. I can see people posting answers but can't get into the actual subject, it's quite…

I know, right? You'd think the point of a forum was to ask questions when you're feeling a little lost, but some people seem to revel in this smug attitude. Maybe they have time to read all of everybody's other forum posts but I, for one, have only ever popped on here when I needed to shout out for help. And I'm very…

FYI Update: One week of upping my calories from 600 net to closer to 1200 net.. and I have put on 4lbs :( Hoping this is that 'adjustment' you were all talking about. Oh, also I have my pmt, so could be that. Looking forward to next week!

This is a pretty scientific approach and might be worth a try, Carbs don't really agree with me so I don't each much anyway, definitely no bread or pasta.
-
Thanks, it all seems so obvious now, I just had never put any thought into it. Bumped up my clories this week, don't feel very good from it at the moment, it's more than I would ever normally eat, but I'll stick with it and see what happens!
-
Ahhhhh I know you're right but a nutritionist here costs so much! Unless anyone knows of one they'd recommend in London?
-
Ah! So obvious now I read it :) Has anyone tried this?
-
Hi Joe, That's sort of the opposite to what has happened. I exercise daily and stick to 1200 cals but I have stopped losing weight. It didn't bother me at first as I initially started this for fitness, not weight, but the weight loss has been an addictive bonus! And I do wonder what I'm doing wrong. I don't get hungry, due…

This is incredible.. such an eye-opener. Thank you. It's a lot to read but I guess I'm in a place where I need to now!

I had this at a restaurant the other day and it was absolutely delicious.. it was a starter but pretty filling so you could have it with both halves if you fancy a light meal. Basically a bruschetta on an avocado: – Take half an avocado. Add finely chopped tomato, basic and onion in a vinaigrette. Place it into the middle…
