absolutely. If I stick with lots of protein, fiber, fat, and an occasional treat, I have no problem with my 1500ish a day. If I cut back on the others in favor of carbs/sugar, I have more trouble. But, I have PCOS and IR- so YMMV

I don't think he claimed it was impossible to lose weight any other way. Just that, for some people, adherence might be affected poorly by a lower caloric threshold and might be improved by a higher daily caloric goal combined with an increase in exercise. He's basically creating the deficit with less restriction and more…

I can actually buy into this. I am short, female, older, and with a sedentary job. I can eat at about 1500-1600 cals a day - which is a very small deficit for light activity levels - for a really long time. And I rarely felt the need to go over that even when I was up to 5 days a week of TKD, HIIT type classes, and light…

yes. I did a detox once called salmonella poisoning with a side order of sigmoidoscopy when the food poisoning took 4 weeks to clear up. It cost me about as much money and water weight as a store bought cleanse and resulted in about the same amount of actual fat loss- none

Meat is an excellent source of protein which helps your body retain muscle in a caloric deficit. Plus, it's delicious - esp when wrapped in bacon :p

Besides anything else, men have a higher metabolism going in. You are probably taller, you may weigh more, you probably have more muscle. You may or may not be younger. So yeah- it stands to reason that if you lost 30 in 3 months, the OP can lose 30 in 2/3 the time :s

Please eat. Food is not evil - it is fuel (and tastes good). I am 5'1", 44 years old (so twice your age), have a desk job, and have a metabolic disorder (PCOS). I lose weight eating 1500 cals a day and getting exercise about 4 x a week. It may not be super fast but I don't binge, I'm not obsessed with food, and I feel good

Uhm.... I'm with a bunch of the PPs... Ask him what he wants. Don't take the suggestion to make sex a weapon/reward. And understand that he is only gonna get healthier when he wants to and is ready. You're his partner- not his mother or keeper - or dog trainer

Oh yeah- when you wonder for years why you can't grow your hair past shoulder length. then finally realize that the curls just camouflage the fact that your hair is mid-back length  I guess I always decide to finally get split ends cut off before the weight of my hair pulls out enough curl to make it look longer

When you beg your kids NOT to play with your hair cause it will make it frizz. When you dread trips to FL. FWIW, I use a Curl Cloth for drying my hair, I try to skip shampoo some of the time (but I cant stand it on workout days), I use conditioner, a hair gel and argan oil, and then let my hair air dry while trying not to…

yep. this

That. But also general lack of activity, lack of education of what portion sizes really look like, and a long time of eating too many carbs and sugars (I have PCOS and IR)
-
All of the above ^^^ Plus hormonal fluctuations. I weigh daily for trends and fun but I only log my weight once or twice a month because it can fluctuate wildly due to water/muscle repair/hormones

Eating breakfast or not is purely personal preference - and, technically, you break your fast when you eat for the first time that day - even if that's at 2p.m.

I manually followed the links - honestly, it's hard to tell - lighting, angle, and bikini are different. That being said, you look great in both pics :flowerforyou:

Born in upstate ny, grew up in fl, live in ga Soda (but its coke here), sub, and I use firefly/lightning bug interchangeably

This. But I weigh not measure

That. You need extra nutrients while breast feeding so I'd be inclined to slow down the loss until you're done with that phase (esp with not much to lose to get to goal) but your doctor may have a better perspective

The reality is that I could totally manage to feel full on 12-1300 calories if I ate entirely "clean" - esp while getting plenty of protein and fat (I low carb due to IR). I'm only 5'1", I'm female and in my 40s with a very sedentary desk job. I occasionally over-ate/mindlessly ate but I mainly got fat due to too many…

I started off with a 1300 goal and managed to not be starving and lost weight - BUT, I ate nothing "bad" for me during taht period, tons of protein and fat to keep me full AND I am only 5'1" and in my 40s. That being said, it only took me about 2 months to change to 1400ish or so and eventually I settled on 1500. Cause I…

I'm so sorry. I watched cancer rob my dad of every pleasure and dignity before he died. I hate cancer with every fiber of my being

Smart dad. When I quit demonizing food, I gained a heckuva lot more control. I know how much it costs nd can usually be happy with a single serving. Just finished my pint of Ben and Jerry's - 4 servings over 4 nights :D
-
You got this!! Seriously - read the links graceisjinxed posted - they are awesome. And I can honestly say that following the advice contained in those threads has helped radically changed my relationship with food - I no longer beat myself over "over-eating" - I just log it and move on I wish you joy in your marriage and…

I am so jealous!!!!

I am 22.5% smaller than i think. I picked the second to largest but landed in the middle. BUT, I carry a lot of weight in my lower belly (PCOS) and that does not get accounted for where they tell you to measure

I sure hope so!
