  • From yesterday's diary: Calories 1,588 Carbs 35g Fat 118g Protein 107g I reset my %-ages here to be 50/40/10 Fat/Protein/Carbs also. I didn't eat between 7:15 am and 4:30 pm because I wasn't hungry. I drink plenty of water too.
  • Oh yeah and here's the kicker. I haven't been exercising at all. But with my elevated energy levels I'm going to start doing something.
  • I've been to Carabba's (chain restaurant - my daughter works there) twice since starting my low carb/Primal lifestyle. I basically look to see what they can do to make their dishes glulten free (gets rid of the refined carbs). Carabba's has a nice page on their website about how to de-gluten the menu items that can be…
  • I started Jan 1 and for the first week definitely felt like crap. I think I was under eating fats (it can be hard to realize fat is not the enemy). I basically vegged on the couch or surfed the web. Didn't feel like doing anything and I really didn't (no exercise). Now I feel great. In fact I'm thinking of starting some…
  • Thanks. I love that the website has a page about "Meat Boxes". We've been getting our meat from Giant Eagle (Cosgray and Hayden Run) and are not always satisfied with it. I'm looking forward to heading to Mosley's this weekend.
  • I live near Darby HS, I can see it from my house. Thanks for the tip on the butcher. I will try to check it out this weekend. I used to live down behind Meijer so I am very familiar with that intersection. Which corner is it on? Big Lots (SE), Kroger (SW), SportCuts(NE) or Chef's House (NW)? Not even sure if that…
  • Started Primal Jan 1 and yesterday was the first time I skipped lunch at work since I was not hungry. It wasn't really much of a conscious decision either, just a realization that others were getting lunch and I didn't feel the need. I think I am going to try to basically "skip" lunch now unless I am actually hungry. I've…
  • You might try looking into the Primal/Paleo type lifestyle. There is a Primal/Paleo group here on MFP and Mark's Daily Apple website is the main Primal website/blog (ie the guy who came up with the Primal lifestyle runs it). I started a mostly Primal 'diet' on Jan 1 and have found it effortless to follow. I did have a…
  • I started what was basically Primal on Jan 1 (hmmmm, I wonder why) at 313 pounds (I'm 6'2"). Today (Jan 17) I am down to 300. At first I was losing a pound a day but it appears to be slowing down some now (as expected). For the first week or so I had the 'low carb' flu and felt like crap but am feeling great now and my…
  • I like a square of Lindt 90% Cocoa Supreme Dark. It's not very sweet so no one else in the house wants to eat it so it doesn't disappear unless I'm the one eating it. I've found since I have cut most sugar out of my eating (ie pretty much anything that isn't in a whole food) that a square of this chocolate tastes better…
  • I assumed that MFP = MyFitnessPal (ie this site).
  • When I stopped eating the junk food, soft drinks and other sugary things I found my appetite was less than when I did eat those things.
  • Sounds fine, if a little plain. I sometimes have one boiled egg, 1 oz of Swiss cheese and some sunflower seeds for breakfast. Tasty and keeps me full until lunch.
  • This is me. Back when I was at a healthy weight I always had to buy shirts one size larger than would be expected so it would fit me in the shoulders. Now I need it that size to help cover my gut. I think being broad shouldered also covered up my weight gain to some extent. From the front I wouldn't look to bad but…
