  • Meh, I saw both sides of the argument on this one. The OP asked for an opinion on a specific product from people who have tried it. If you didn't try it, then simply don't bother responding. Talking about other things is irrelevant for the sake of the thread. We all know some people will try the latest fads or gimmicks no…
  • Thanks for the clarification. This is odd because on my OnTrack app, it shows my average BG the last 3 months is 115 and my A1c should be 5.6 or 5.7 because of that. (It has fluctuated between 5.6 and 5.7 the past month). But I guess the blood work would include the first few weeks of December, which is before I started…
  • Here's an answer for you. I bought the stuff about a month ago. It didn't seem to make much of a difference overall, since I was already steadily losing weight from diet and exercise. I mainly took it on days I remembered to take it, so it wasn't every day. One thing I will tell you. I'm insensitive to most energy…
  • This thread is pointless because almost every guy considers themselves hot. Someone pass the popcorn.
  • Thanks for the clarification, not sure what the ratio was as I haven't had a chance to check the complete bloodwork paperwork. I guess I can ask my doc to mail me the results so I can see all of the numbers. I'm just trying to figure out why I would be put on meds for something I am gaining control of, but not something…
  • As someone who is trying to get back where I was 10 years ago when I was kickboxing and boxing heavily, thank you for this! I have lost count of how many times I have had to tell women that weight training does not make you manly. Another thing as a newly diagnosed diabetic, weight training helps burn sugar and carbs off…
  • 5'3", CW 162. My size 12 jeans and pants are falling off me, so I'm probably down to a size 10 now.
  • You were right, I had it too low. I ran the spreadsheet. Turns out my BMR is about 1500 and my TDEE -20% is 1750. Checked Scooby's website, and that had my BMR at 1300 and TDEE -20% at 1600. So I'm guessing if I take the averages, I should put BMR at 1400 and TDEE at 1675? I'm kind of slowly stalling now that I am below…
  • I test 4 times a day and stick my numbers in my Food Notes section. This way I can see which foods affected my blood sugar right away, or if I need to go back and see how a past food affected me before buying it again, I can look it up.
  • I am debating on raising mine, MFP has me at 1200 calories, but when I finally did the correct calculations with a spreadsheet that was posted on these forums, I saw that my BMR is 1500 and my TDEE -20% is actually 1750. While I have lost 23 lbs so far maintaining 1200, I'm kind of stalling and losing weight slowly now. I…
  • That's what I do, and one of my friends has detailed messages on hers. You can add a food category called "Vitamins and Medications" and track it that way as well.
  • I've found this and I have an Android, but I believe it works with an iPhone as well. http://www.glucosebuddy.com/
  • I should have clarified easier, it's a little difficult to explain. I eat about 1200 calories minimum every day. On days I know I will work out, I will try to eat more, such as more protein and such, but I don't always reach the total MFP says I should eat. For instance say I worked off 600 calories at the gym, but I only…
  • There's plenty of healthy options for dinner that's in the range of 700 calories. Using salsa, veggies, brown rice and chicken can easily add up or any number of ethnic foods like Chinese, Italian, Indian, Japanese, etc. Most meals I've had while out average about 600-700 and I'm still eating healthy. (Shrimp in coconut…
  • Snackwell's Devils Food cookies. Oh so good and only 50 calories each.
  • You might also not be eating enough calories on days when you work out and throwing your body into starvation mode, causing you to gain weight instead of losing. Also stress, hormones, and any other number of things can affect your weight numbers.
  • I'm Puerto-Rican and from Brooklyn. No I don't sound like Rosie Perez or Jennifer Lopez. I speak proper English without an accent. I don't have any kids. I'm not on welfare and never have been, I've been working since I was 16. I don't speak fluent Spanish. I'm putting myself through college. I'm more of a geek than…
  • This is one of mine, especially since everything I have including every piece of furniture in my apt I worked hard for. My main one lately has been "Go Hard or Go Home" Another is "Don't beat yourself up for past mistakes, just learn how not to make new ones" or "Exercise to be fit, not skinny, eat to nourish your body,…
  • I kind of have the best of both worlds. My neighbor and I will try to go on the same days, so we push each other to just go to the gym. Once we're there, we may do our warm up together, but after that we're pretty much on our own. Mainly because I do a lot more weight training than she does, and I work out longer also.…
  • California is worse than NY. I was minding my own business there and still got rude comments out of nowhere from strangers. That doesn't happen as much in NY. I also know a poster from a forum I'm on who had to move from California to Boston because she couldn't take the rude, obnoxious people anymore. My friend wants me…
  • I'm in! 5'3, CW 165 trying to get to 150 by May so I have 15 lbs to go.
  • 2006 - 192 lbs 2013 - 165 lbs
  • I agree with others, take all precautions and having the right doctor(s) will make a huge difference. I was diagnosed from a routine check-up, because I found my mother in the hospital with kidney and heart failure from diabetes complications. My doctor yesterday after realizing I was down 21 lbs from my visit in December…
  • I'm in the same exact boat and this is what I stick with. You would be surprised by the amount of sugar there is even in "healthy" cereals. Anything over 8g is too much. Also almond milk is an easy alternative to regular milk to switch to and it's only 30-40 calories. I also stick with plain oats and will add berries and…
  • I have the code also. I say like another person said, go with the thin crust, order a veggie topping and only eat a portion of the pizza or share with a friend or family. BTW, if you are signed up to get papa points you get a free pizza every 25 points. Those who were already signed up I think are the ones who got the free…
  • I find this to be the hardest part, trying to eat back the calories you burned working out. There's been a few times I've had 800-1000 calories left for dinner and other than eating like a horse, or getting something unhealthy, I am usually still 200-300 short.
  • I don't doubt this for a second, because I'm from NYC also. I've had my share of comments as well, but mine have mainly been from my family getting on my case about why am I not as thin as I was 20 years ago! I had to calmly tell my family "Look, I appreciate your concern. However if you think for one second I don't…
  • I made a smoothie earlier with peanut butter that I'm sure can be replaced with almond butter and it was heavenly! 1/2 cup low fat, soy or almond milk 1/2 apple, peeled & chopped 1 tbsp peanut butter (sub in almond butter) 1/3 cup quick cooking oats (plain oats for oatmeal) Blend with 3 ice cubes and dust with cinnamon.
  • Considering my birthday is in June, I just want to lose maybe another 20 lbs by then. I know my ticker says I have 11 lbs left, but if I can take it, I'll add another 9 lbs since I've been averaging 10 lbs a month on weight loss.
  • Not sure if the brand makes a difference, but I recently bought some almond butter (MaraNatha brand) and it has the same stats as my Skippy peanut butter give or take. Same calories (190), same Carbs (2%) and everything else. Maybe I just need to find a different brand?
