Maybe because running is more a cardio workout than a fat burning workout?? I could be way off, but from what I've read, it's low intensity that burns calories & high intensity (running) that is more for heart health....correct me if I'm wrong. I could stand to learn as well :)

Love to make a hearty chicken soup with veggies, Start with veggie or chicken stock, add in 1 tsp Italien seasoning, diced chicken, carrots, a bit of minced onion & garlic, maybe some celery and/or spinach & if you have the space in your diet, orzo pasta....is super yummy on a chilly day! Simmer for 1/2 hour & should be…

I've got to a "pea protein" based protein powder to rid of the whey....anyone else have an opinion on pea protein as opposed to whey protein? I used to like having a shake for breakfast as I'm not that big into making much when I wake up. I'm not shaking much weight so I quit, but now will start again with this new kind.

Thank you .... finally got back to read the responses....guess it's unanimous! Medjool it is! I have some to use up in my cupboard of the cheaper kind, but I will certainly try these next time!

Question: Can anyone give me an opinion on using "pea protein" based protein powder as opposed to "whey" based protein? Is there a health advantage? I bought pea protein based powder from a recommendation, but was amazed to find that peas have so much protein in them.... ?? Different from whey??

I agree...don't waste your money...does not work & if you read reviews, there are negative side effects to its use.

Thank you BBQsauce....So basically stay away from refined sugar (bagged sugar)....and the honey debate confuses me....I have a friend that is a bee farmer & I buy my honey from him....am I now to avoid honey? I have to remember what one person said to me....you don't see anyone overweight from eating fruits & veggies...

I've just recently started to focus in on trying salads when I eat out. I have, happily found several that are yummy & not calorie-riden. Add grilled chicken or steak & it's a good meal! I know rabbit food isn't always the go-to on the menu when eating out, but give them a shot & you might be surprised...then that glass of…

Men grunting because are lifting too much weight...I'm sure women do it too in some of the more 'active' gyms, but at mine it seems to be the men that grunt very loudly to indicate to us all that he's lifting far too much weight! :pensive:

Because I am new to this I appreciate all the viewpoints & banter back & forth about what is sufficient & what isn't. It was mentioned in my current course "Nutrition & Physical Activity for Health" that the body can only utilize 20 g of protein at a time...the rest is waste. Here's another viewpoint from my class blog to…

It will be difficult to build muscle since having a low caloric intake kinda defeats your purpose of working out if your purpose is in fact, to gain lean muscle mass. I agree with everyone's suggestion to eat a little more, add some healthy fats in & maybe use a protein shake if you simply can't eat enough protein daily. I…

Ok, so here's something to the contrary....or is it?? "Oh yeah, the same holds for protein. Protein isn’t going to be converted to and stored as fat. But eat excess protein and the body will burn more protein for energy (and less carbs and fat). Which means that the other nutrients have to get stored. Which means that…

It isn't necessary as long as you're getting your daily protein requirement. It's useful as a supplement if you can't get enough protein through foods or you find it more convenient to drink a shake rather than eat. It is recommended that athletes take in 1.0 to 2.0 grams/kg body weight /day, depending on the type of…
