  • Produce: Bananas Avocados Onions Zucchini Refrigerated: Eggs (though they arent refrigerated where I live) Milk and cream Frozen berries Chicken thighs We don't really have a health food section... I guess protein powder and fish oil supplements might count.
  • I consider a cheat meal something that messes with my macros, for example, eating way too much sugar or not enough protein in the name of delicious food. What you ate sounds like a pretty normal meal to me... maybe a bit high in processing and sat/trans fats, but if you're not exceeding macros or calories I don't see why…
  • If you set yourself to lose 2 lbs a week, but that puts you under 1200 calories, MFP will default to 1200 for health reasons. Small people CAN eat a net below 1200 but I guess the website doesn't want to be responsible for causing health problems/starvation.
  • It works for some people, but you'll find on MFP that people will get very angry when you tell them you live off 1200 a day. I eat 1200 on rest days and 1400 on workout days (weights, no cardio). My job and hobby are both sedentary so it's working for me, I'm never hungry or fatigued.
  • Why do you limit fat? It's essential for a lot of bodily functions and feeling full. Vegan fat sources are especially good for you.
  • Flavored has more calories because it has added sugar. If you can't stand plain greek yogurt then try adding your own honey or cocoa powder etc so you can control how much (and the quality of) sugar you're eating
  • Fat blockers do exist, and they will make you sick as hell. Shortly after a fatty meal you will literally poop out the fat. It's disgusting and unhealthy, and super weird because fat is good for you.
  • Obesity is a problem, though. A huge problem. Some people are happy with their bodies, fine, but millions of people are hopelessly overweight with no idea how to fix with their problem. Capitalism = selling these people garbage that never works, leading them to believe they will always be fat with no tools to help…
  • Steak, chicken breasts, pork loins... you gotta eat meat, with protein consumption being your goal. Peanut butter and nuts have almost no protein, same with yogurt, compared to meat. When I was consuming 120g a day I also had a protein shake.
  • almost all fresh produce will have a LOT of fiber per calorie, especially compared to wheats and whole wheats. substituting all your grains with whole grains helps a little, but you're really gonna get the most from fruit and veg.
  • Pfft I don't track sodium. Rarely do young people consume too much unless they're dining out every single day. Have it with enough potassium and water and it's hardly a problem, unless you have a specific medical condition that's exacerbated by sodium. If you're hungry and your only option is a quick high sodium meal, down…
  • dairy, especially eggs and protein-dense yogurts/cheeses! Kefir, cottage cheese, etc
  • Nope, I could wear a potato sack and he wouldn't care. He notices and appreciates when I dress up and look pretty, but otherwise it's whatever.
  • lift heavy monday wednesday friday, run 2-3x a week on rest days that suit me
  • too much sodium + carbs making you hold water, or possibly hormonal things like periods/birth control
  • 1. go to bed at a reasonable time - much easier if you stop looking at screens (computer, ipad, etc) in the hours before bed 2. set out exercise clothes before sleeping 3. wake up in the morning, work out 4. repeat I found it way more doable when I got a coffee machine that made good coffee easily/quickly. The promise of a…
  • you could jam to the radio for free. if you're a game/points motivated person it might make exercise more painless, though.
  • My little sister offering to try picking up my 6'1" boyfriend, but going "uhh......" when I asked if she could try lifting me. :P
  • No, that would defy the laws of thermodynamics. 1000 calories a week will (perfect math and biology permitting) cause you to lose more than 1lb more per week than 1600 calories. However, you may find yourself miserable, unsatisfied, and under-nourished @ 1000 calories a day - very hard to get enough essential nutrients at…
  • I eat junk several times a week, but that's fully knowing that it won't be satisfying and that my diet could be better. To that I shrug and finish the cheeseburger. I try to favor savory junk over sugary though, as I have a personal addiction problem with sweet foods and I try to keep it dead as long as possible.
  • I have lifted weights for a long time and shunned cardio, but I'm getting into running. Once it stops sucking, it is a pretty euphoric experience. - putting your shoes in the freezer will kill smelly bacteria - the wrong sports bra can make it hard to breathe, which you might not catch because you'll expect to be out of…
  • my grocery bill is $20 a week, which is already really low. I'm not sure if it's possible unless you can find a butcher who will give you meat off cuts for nothing. look for meat on sale, buy in bulk, put in freezer. eat lots of veggies and avocados, cheap as hell for the volume of food buy cheap cuts of meat and slow cook…
  • sugar is addictive and bad for you think about and savor the food you're eating
  • Yogurt is only high carb is if it's flavored or has added sugar. Look for full fat yogurt, it usually has less sugar as the sugar is only added to make up for the loss of flavor fat provides. It just means eating less yogurt but better quality yogurt (as fat has more calories per gram than sugar, but is better for health…
  • Interesting post. However, it assumes the reader is either very overweight, a male, or someone looking to build/maintain muscle mass. 1200 is a fine number for small females, depending on their goals (exercise or not, muscle building or not). You're right, as a blanket number, 1200 won't work - but not only because of the…
  • source please? I don't think she's that stupid but sometimes fitness models give advice that sells, even if they don't follow it
  • There is no cut off. I eat all my calories within 3 hours usually lol, never had lower body fat in my life. Your body really just doesn't give a crap when it gets food, as long as it does. edit: it boggles my mind that so many people say "my doctor/nutrition/nursing friend said... [broscience here]". Is that garbage really…
  • you should eat a diet that is a deficit in calories, and rich in beneficial nutrients. eating oatmeal for 3 meals a day is way too many carbs without enough fat and protein to balance it out. the higher the protein the better, really, but in the end the weight you lose is about the calories. over consumption of carbs and…
  • If the 8 hour diet is indeed intermittent fasting then it's a fine idea and suits many people's lifestyles. It's not really a weight loss diet, the idea is that is is ideal for making lean muscle gains. Some people finds the methods curbs bingeing and appetite though, and meal satisfaction when you get to eat a big dinner.
