If you've started exercising, your body is adjusting, repairing, getting stronger. Everything is going to be out of whack for a bit. You're probably at least a little inflamed, holding extra fluid for repairs. It's fine, keep going, you're doing great!

Success is not a zero sum game. Another persons success won't take any of your success from you. Also, because she is now in the habit of weighing herself, that could be causing her to be more mindful about what she eats. Even though she isn't on a specific plan, the weigh ins are almost certainly affecting her eating…

The app assumes you set your goal for a reason. But most people aren't worried about it and their macros are mostly arbitrary. It sounds like you're in that category. Some people, like me, are trying to stay under a certain carb limit. The warning is useful for that. So, essentially, if you don't know if you should care…

I never complete my diary. I don't see the point.

Agh, body weight exercises! The availability of them!

Never, under any circumstances, no matter how certain you feel, assume a packaged food is sugar free. Nuts? Check the label. Beef jerky? Check the label. Get plenty of water and salt. Personally, I have found that cutting out sweet flavors has left me feeling unfettered. I have lost interest in sweetness. I really…

Hey, you can add me, I'm in my third month. :)
-
I've read it several times. :)

It isn't a plan in that sense. You eat the same way the whole time. However, it takes time to adapt. In the beginning, your body will still be using your glycogen stores. After about a week, you're probably in ketosis. From one to two months is when you're becoming what we call keto adapted. This means that your body is…

One thing to keep in mind is that how pink the strip is is largely irrelevant. My own experience is that my strips are darker the more I overeat fat, it has nothing to do with carbs as long as the carbs are low enough for ketosis. I can eat 2200 calories and 50g net carbs and the strip will be magenta. 1200 calories and…

I don't really know if mine is open also idgaf either way.

You seem similar to me and I don't fight the night eating at all. Instead, I embrace day fasting. I go most of the day with no food. I don't eat until at least 2 and I usually wake up at 5am. I eat pretty much all of my food between 2 and 9, go to bed at 10. It's also easier for me to do since I've been doing keto. I no…

I definitely think you should try it but I have a strong suspicion that my lower back pain was somehow tied to my anxiety and depression and my deeply abusive childhood. I think that it was causing me to tense some muscles or hold my body in an awkward position. There's a lot of literature about how the psoas and other…

Okay, this is crazy sounding but it's true. I'm on week ten.my anxiety and depression have gone. My mind is clear and focused. I've written two screenplays in the past ten weeks. I had the kind of breakthrough in therapy most people take ayahuasca to have. My lower back pain eased up so much I've been able to start running…

Yes, calories are a consideration. Calories restriction is how you lose weight, on or off keto. The thing about losing weight on keto is that it gets a little tricky with the macros. Because, when you lose weight, you are going to be getting some of your daily calories from your own fat stores which counts towards your…

I try to get all my fiber from vegetables. Leafy green vegetables like kale, spinach, watercress. You want some red and orange and yellow vegetables for the different phytonutrients. If you don't like the leafy greens in salad form you should try baking kale or roasting broccoli in olive oil. It's amazing. Roasting veg…

My understanding is that the aspirin found in CVS is artificial. They don't use willow tree leaves to make it.

A lot of people do binge on carbs. A lot of people find we don't binge on anything but carbs. If we cut out carbs, we don't binge. Hence why a lot of people are finding success on keto.
-
I'm defining it that way. To give you an example of something with a similar history, I don't take aspirin for a headache. I'd take it if I thought I was having a heart attack or something but not to treat inflammation. That's how I'm defining new. [edit] Margarine is also that old, btw.
-
Actually it is, it's so true it's basically a tautology. She basically just said that, if you have a problem binging on carbs, then carbs are problematic for you. That doesn't imply that people don't binge on other things.
-
The issue here isn't exactly that it's artificial, the issue is that it was new. That's true of artificial sweeteners, as well. A new substance is an unknown. We don't know if it's dangerous or not. Most of the research on the new substance will be funded by the people who stand to profit from it being deemed safe. So, a…

This is the correct answer. We can't tell you if you should cut down on carbs. But you can try it, do it for a month, stay under 50g net carbs for one month. At the end of the month, you will know if it's something you want to continue with, trust me. And, if it doesn't work for you, keep trying different things. Finding…

It's the reason I'm doing keto. My BMI is 23. I wouldn't hate to lose 10lbs but I'm 43 and happily married so there's no real pressure to do it. My depression and anxiety have been the bane of my existence. They have plagued me my whole life. At one point, I was taking klonopin, adderall, welbutrin, propranolol, and…

It's anecdotal at this point but a lot of people report little to no excess skin when losing weight through fasting protocols. You'd have to do the googling to learn the specifics of that, what kind of fasting they did. I'm not super familiar with it.
-
This is how I am. I won't even use artificial sweeteners. I'm done with all f it. I saw some cupcakes the other day and they barely registered as food to me.
-
I agree. It's especially weird to me since it seems that most of the time, it's people who are taking an obvious idiom literally. Like, "I could care less" means the person doesn't care. Everybody knows that but people still want to complain forever about how it literally means that you do care.

I'm doing the keto diet which is pretty restrictive on all carbs so I don't do root veg. Luckily, I have a lot of autistic qualities, one being that I can eat the same thing every day and never get bored.
-
That's fantastic, it sounds like this WOE really works for you. It was about three weeks into this that I knew I would never eat any other way, the improvements to my quality of life were so dramatic and undeniable. For me, it was almost entirely mental improvements, improvements to mood, focus and mental endurance. But I…

When you reduce your carbs, your body will first use up the glycogen stores. Once the glycogen is depleted, that's when you start converting fat to energy. If you reduce your carb intake to the point where you use all the carbs you eat for immediate energy and none is stored as glycogen, you don't have the glycogen stores.…

I'm not doing this for weight loss but I see this issue all the time in the keto community. The advice is always, "Keep calm and keto on." They say KCKO for short, it's that common for people to hit a plateau and just wait it out. But I would also tend to think @StaciMarie1974 is right. You could be retaining water for the…
