Correct - I think someone on 1200 calories ( although nothing to suggest OP is on 1200 calories) can fit in 160 calories of ' just because I enjoy it' food without short-changing themselves nutritionally.

just trying to stick on topic, not drift into tangents. You seem to be taking that very personally - it wasnt addressed at you in particular. threads can just drift away from original question - which of course then doesnt answer the question asked I'm not saying any more on that - or will cause a thread drift into who…

^^^ no, not really - fitting Oreos into your calories while dieting was OP's question - not whether we like them ourselves
-
I disagree. If one uses 10% of one's allowance on Oreos that leaves plenty of wiggle room for good nutrition. 90% good nutrition diet would be fine I see thread has now morphed into whether we like taste of Oreos ourselves - but that wasn't the question.

Yes there is a scarcity. At least here in Australia and as I understand it worldwide. We are in a scarcity, at least until supplies catch up with demand but that isnt the case now. I didn't say diabetics vs obese people were 2 separate polarised groups I did say PBS criteria in Australia is diabetics for whom oral…

well of course the manufactures are trying to address the shortage - would be poor business sense not to. Question is whether it is ethical now when there is a shortage - not about later when that problem has been resolved. and reality now is if you dont deny obese people just wanting it for weight loss then diabetics who…

I get what posters are saying about lifestyle changes for weight loss. However for type 2 diabetics, yes they may need to stay on it for life, even with weight loss and behaviour changes. Not all type 2 diabetics are overweight anyway. Yes the long term risks may be unknown - but the long term risks of poorly controlled…

It's OK to spend some calories on things just because you enjoy them as long as your overall diet is reasonably nutrionally sound. 159 calories ( 3 oreos at 53 calories each) is easy enough to fit into any calorie allowance leaving plenty of room for higher nutrition items as well.

Took me 10 months to lose 10 kg ( about 22 lb)
-
Didn't I read about it in my TV guide just this morning?
-
I dont see any need to stick with zero Oreos. If OP is calorie counting and her calorie allowance is x, it is easy enough to fit 2 Oreos into that, if they are 53 calories each. Easy enough to fit 3 in if she wants to and easy enough to fit in other nutritional foods so your diet is nutritionally sound - that can include 2…

Anything not on the PBS here is called a private script PBS capped price covers most medications, people dont need health insurance for them - sometimes people want something for perfectly legitimate reasons - eg a vaccination they do not meet funded criteria for - and they get this on a private script and pay full price.

thanks.

That is a very good chart. However this is assuming 65 is a reasonable goal If you are, for example, 200cm tall, it is not.
-
I don't think anyone was talking about people doing that. I know medical systems obviously vary by country - but here in Australia it is PBS ( pharmacetical benifits scheme ) approved and therefore at PBS subsidised price, for diabetics for whom oral medication is not sufficient. People can get it on a private script ie…

^^ that picture is a lot of making something out of nothing - none of them are surprising really - no reason to think gluten free cookies would be lower calorie than non gluten free,we know peanut butter is high in fat, nuts are high in calories and of course cereal ( or anything) can be 500 calories if no quantity is…

That doesn't makes sense. If you expect diabetics to change their eating habits why don't obese people do th a t themselves? And anyway diabetics can change their eating and lose weight and still need medication. Not all type 2 diabetics were ever obese in the first place.

The trigger foods aren't always same for everyone - you might need a bit of trial and error to find which, if any are problematic for you.

Tara - yes I am agreeing with you. Our western food culture accepts things like prawns but squirms at cockroaches or witchetty grubs. But the idea espoused by one poster that humans can't digest insects is clearly incorrect. It is just cultural preference, that's all.

wasn't I referring to the checking up on people part?

I agree with your post - as indeed you were furthering my point about humans digesting insects. Being pedantic - yes I agree many western culture people eat crab, lobster, shrimp (prawns) However many people throughout the world eat 'actual insects' they just aren't part of our western culture idea of food- this idea that…
