Really just trial and error find out what works for you. Personally I do better with higher protein than carbs so I'm at 35/40/25 right now but I'll re-evaluate in a month or so.

I usually make everything with a base of brown rice or quinoa. Most of the time I add baby spinach, half a red bell pepper and some marinated chicken fillets (lemon and herbs). The best way to avoid sugar cravings is to avoid sugar! For me anyway, if I remove all the refined sugar from my diet and leave only fruit and low GI carbs then I don't crave it, but even so much as a little bit of sugar in a coffee and I want more and more and more all day. Chromium supplements also take the edge off.…

1200 a day too, on a 35-40-25% split for carbs, protein and fat. I have a very long road ahead!
