Soooo how does one get a DXA scan? What is the cost? Manic congrats on cancer free, that's got to be a total relief. Did I hear correctly that the longer you stay in remission, the more future risks go down? anyway I'm so happy for you. As for the bad mood, I guess we all still have life on lifes terms, it's a *****.…

jdgro, can't remember if i said this before or not, but i went into menopause at 48 and noticed softening, loss of muscles, and middle aged spread pretty quickly. i went on HRT to help pack on the muscle along with NROL4W. it's helping to firm things up. my rationale: do HRT in my 50's then taper off. spend the 50's decade…

lol you should move to my neck of the woods then - its like that 6 months out of the year and the summers aren't that hot!

Red, bikinigeddon approaches and you're gonna be ready! That's so great that you found your best calorie-exercise mix, too. Maya, I am with you, I was saying the other day this workout thing is total discipline, it def takes a lot. Mnsmov- thanks friend, and congrats on the pushups. Slammed 3A today and even got the BWM.…

And.......I'm back in friends. Did 3B tonite and feeling back on track. Yeah a cookies not gonna kill a ya. Unfortunately I can hardly ever stop at one or two before turning into the cookie monster. One of those trigger foods for ^me. Waiting for the right ham to fully cooperate but I'm back :))

Hey ladies did my first 3B tonight, did pretty good. Got 70# for those dead lift bent over rows, feel like I could have done more but was using preloaded barbells and wasn't sure I could get much more back up high on the rack! Got 85# wide lat, 10# ytwls and this workout felt long. Still feeling it in my right ham so…

I started step ups on the actual stairs at my gym - You could try if your gym has stairs. It was a bit of a pain because people would want to use the stairs to go up, but trainer said I could use stairs for that so I felt ok w it. Are you saying your gym does not have aerobic steps? Seems weird. I usually have to remove a…

Willift and Marie - thanks for the support, so glad I'm not the only one! It's a tough thing for sure, but knowing it's a common problem and others feel that way to goes a long way. This tends to be a lighter chatty thread but I'm still gonna comment on this here since it directly affects motivation. Did some introspection…

relate on the motivation to eat at a deficit when not exercising. it's like weight training/cardio and deficit eating are intertwined. when one goes, it all goes. been frustrated this week due to injuries and being unable to exercise, going over cals and not caring. for myself, since i have a sedentary lifestyle when i…

Hey! Glad you're progressing DouMc and Pudding - I decided to take this week off and I'm glad I did. Old girl ain't what she used to be what with lower back quad and ham strains. My entire body is deeply sore - like I'm still sore today even though I haven't done anything since Monday. Lou is right, sometimes you need…

thanks maya! that makes me feel good - and i could use some feeling good. i'm taking a week off. think i'll be in a better place come next sunday or monday, focus on foam rolling and gradual healing this week, try to stay within cals. :-)

you can get an FSH test and that will tell you whether you are menopause or not. high score=menopause. lol. i wouldn't have known unless the mirena was up for removal and replacement - NP did the test before giving me another mirena! transitioning into menopause is kind of sucky news though. almost better not to know.
-
I'm on prempro, combo of estrogen and progesterone. It made me get a period the first month, hadn't had one in years since I had mirena before menopause. Taking pills currently moving toward patches next month saves the liver from processing the medicine. When I went into menopause it was like, bam batwing, stomach flab,…

Ok so off topic - My diet sucked today. Thank you for listening.:blushing:

Hi swift dogs, there is a NROL4W group here that's pretty active with lots of support. I'm 50 and just started stage 3, doing a recomp. I'm 5'5" 150# looking to strengthen, burn some fat before doing a shred. Sounds like you lost the weight and now want to strengthen and add muscle back. New Rules is a pretty good program,…

Been trying for 109-120g protein or 30%. trainer said. Its not close to 1g per pound of BW but it's about all I can muster. Beepeejaye agree on the pushups - you have a great way of adding, awesome. Pudding maybe you need a rest. I'm thinking I do. If I don't feel better by this afternoon, I'm gonna take a week off.…

good idea, thank you. my right side is definitely dominant. forgot to mention i spent 4 hours riding my motorcycle on sunday and lower back was sore from it. will ask the trainer to evaluate form. it does seem odd how everything is on the right side. i guess i just needed to hear somebody else say it! :-)
-
hi! welcome to middle age, which isn't really all that bad, but your notes sound exactly like me. ha the stomach spread and the spongy legs - NROL4W can definitely help to minimize. you'll like the program! although you are right to take it slow. i went into menopause 2 years ago but started HRT about a month ago. hot…

totally. basically just decided the same thing.

BWM was a total ***** hello. Could not jump for the second set and was just plain tired of being there. And When 90 second planks are oddly healing of lower back pain you know you're outta whack. I'm sure I was at the gym for at least 90 min if not more. Not used to the high rep stuff and with 2 weeks off from running my…

DouMc I feel you, it was a total burn last night and I slept like a log. Nice! Did 3 A last night omg. One legged bent over dead lifts just about killed ^me. Evidently my entire right side is strained since I had no difficulty with the left side. Lower back, hamstring, and quad on right side. Been foam rolling, lidocaine.…

wow that video was moving. sets me straight today for sure. my body works, AND i'm pushing up some pretty heavy weights and sticking to the program. like all of us! snap!! how well i accept myself determines how well i accept others with all their failings also. dna, i hate that your mom said hurtful things to you.…
