When it's a hanger and not hunger...changing my palette works for me. I will either drink a cup black tea, unsweetened, of course, or brush my teeth and tongue. This was effective for me to break my late night eating habit. You have come amazingly far so fast! You may find more strategies in LCHF Group.

what a delicious reward!

I've been IF for almost a month and have seen no change in weight even though I easily stay within/under my calorie goals. I'm at a loss right now and don't know where to go next. Nothing seems to work other than starvation (obviously I am not going to such a drastic measure. I'm simply making a point). I have found…

Through a LCHF Ladies 50Y+ group I saw a Jason Fung M.D. podcast about fasting. Although I had previously heard of 5:2 & 4:3 calorie restriction routines, this was the first time I had heard of a fast less than 24h. I also learned that if I took the milk out of my coffee I was essentially doing a 16:8 IF! So this morning…

I value MFP friends for accountability & checking-in. I value MFP Groups for information and continual improvement. Sure add a few friends, but spend some time looking into Groups, so you can find a couple that fit your dietary and exercise method. Before I lost my Fitbit, I joined a Fitbit group to keep on task with my…

My Son, who uses smart devices right up to head on pillow and sometimes beyond, recommends this app, FLUX. FLUX gradually lowers the blue light emitted on devices on which it is installed. It is the blue light waves that interferes with melatonin production. https://forum.justgetflux.com/topic/3675/f-lux-beta-for-windows…

I am guaranteed to wakeup 1-2 or more a night, whenever I try to catch-up on my water quota towards the end of the day. ...so I keep a pitcher of filtered water upstairs and have 2-3 glasses between waking before I go downstairs. I have not got it down to a science, as to when I can have my last glass of water, but I am…

Thank you in advance for sharing your experience along the way.

What exercise did you do? ...and duration ...and frequency

My starting point is with whole foods and organic foods, because I believe they are more nutritious and contain less environmental and processing toxins. Yoghurt seems to be my exception. I find it easy to find ways to eat good fat (nuts & avocados are favorites of mine), but I find it difficult to eat enough protein. I'm…

SALT From low-carb (and some high-fat) posters I have learned about the importance of a high quality mineral salt. Since I have already established low-glycemic eating over the years, I dropped Sugar as my 5th macro and added Sodium, and I established a 3000mg as a target. I measure out 1/4 tsp of coarse ground Celtic Sea…

Although scientifically accurate statement, a person will experience is a sugar addictiion.

Lynn, Most responses the poster received had a combative tone. I aimed to offer support and walking in someone else's moccasins gives the poster more respect for their experiences and empirical evidence. Any thing I offered after a kind word were simply ideas to illuminate that there is a path from where the poster is…

I just returned from southern UT. I was dayhiking & kayaking. I packed and refilled a small plastic container, that had an opening that facilitated pouring contents into mouth, with raw sprouted sunflower seeds that salted myself with celtic sea salt. I have had backpacking friends pre pack a meal in a sealed container of…

I believe you. Sugar is metabolized quickly. Now I will be as unpopular as you on this post, so I would not be suprised if starches (bagels, pancakes, etc.) are also a craving. If you aim for a lower carb diet, come join me on a closed group that minds its manners and respects its members (LCHF). It welcomes a many who are…

Bird of a feather flock together, so what is a guide in one chat area is quackery in another. Vive la difference...and now I return to my closed group!

Protein powdered shakes seem not to be the way to meet my protein macros. They seem not improve my fitness and I doubt its benefit for my health. I even suspect that it contributes to plateaus. I have tried several low-carb plain and vanilla varieties (whey, soy, vegan). I stayed with vegan and experimented with several…

I am getting a picture here...himalyan salt lamp...celtic sea salt in the kitchen...black lava salt in my nasal inhaler...horse hawaiian salt lick at my desk btw @canadjineh I love black rice made risotto style, but with a bit more broth and then I loaded it with my current favorite vegetables--but on lowcarb I've must…

Thanks for the ideas of keeping coarse grind high quality salt on hand. I've ordered some. I typicalling only have the fine grind at home. I also brought home beef bones cross-cut with lots of marrow etc. They are in the stockpot with a generous amount of salt and herbs.

This is something I will try, as I often catch-up on my water goals towards the end of the day. Whenever I have an on-site office day, I just don't drink my water until I get home.

This is my 3rd wk of low-carb. This week I had HIIT to weekday routines. My challenge is finish the month with a total 300 min of HIIT in the remaining 10wkdays of June. So far 20 minutes done and off to do another 10min.

Protein shakes seems to have the affect on my weight. Although I am an omnivore, flesh is neither a mainstay nor daily part of my diet. I have been eating clean for years and incorporating vegetarian principles of food combining. Yet, I find it hard to reach 60g protein daily. I am moderately active and past my…

Thanks! Didn't know about hibicus. There is a new kombucha flavor, hibicus-ginger. Also, thanks for the horsetail photo. Now I know how what that plant is that grows in the back-dune area of Lake Michigan eastern coastline.

starting 3rd wk of low-carb diet (50g carb 20-25g fiber-->30-25g net carbs). So far 3lbs gone. Lost a previous 8lbs doing moderate macros across, but that took 4 months! Feeling just fine and working towards UGW 132lbs!

me too! I see in my fingers. I was planning on drinking CALM (powdered magnesium supplement that address water retention, as well as tight muscles) tonight, because I will be home tomorrow, making the loose bowel effect easily managed. I have been eating salty potato chips regularly. Michigan is having it's first heat wave…

I have halved my consumption of daily fruits. They add important nutrients and fiber in my diet. When I eat fruit, I mostly choose those with a lower glycemic impact (ex. berry v banana). I also will pair a healthy fat and/or protein (ex. seeds, nuts, nutbutter, greek yoghurt) with my planned fruit. This moderates the…
