  • I love the Left Behind series. I bought a Kindle last year so I'm reading several books right now. I usually read at least one book a week....and on vacation I can go through one or two a day!
  • I bought a food sealer and I'm so glad I spent the money. I live alone so fresh foods go bad too quickly for me to finish them. With the food saver I can cut up fresh vegetables and seal them in individual servings and they last a lot longer. For example, I love green peppers....I can slice them and seal them and enjoy…
  • My dietary intake fluxuates a lot during TOM. I've learned to accept it and go with it. It doesn't affect my over-all loss and it is a fact of life, for a few more years. I used to stress about it and weigh obsessively and even try to stop eating during TOM. Then I tried to just have "good" snacks for the constant feeling…
  • I do "Am I Hungry" which is a plan based on changing unhealthy/unproductive thoughts about eating, nutrition and exercise. Changing your thoughts helps you change your habits with gives a positive result. I spend a lot of time figuring out why I want to eat when I am not hungry and then taking care of the true need instead…
  • I sew a little and 'm thinking about moving the button over an inch. That is all it would take for them to be comfortable. Somehow in my warped mind that seems like "cheating". I need to go shoppign and see how other size 18's fit. I hope I won't be in them long anyway ;) Funny how getting into size 18's was devistating…
  • Congratulations!!!!
  • My food diary is private and always will be. There are a few people who have asked for more information about "Am I Hungry" and I have willingly shared my diary with them for a quick view. I don't need or want the food police in my life. I do not believe in dieting and for the most part I think counting calories is a waste…
  • Thanks :) Erin, you should talk to HWC about doing a "Mommy and Me" class.....you might really enjoy it!
  • People find somethign that works for them and they get so excited they want everyone to have that kind of success. It is understandable. But we are not cookie cutter people and what works for one does not work for another. It is when we can cherish and applaud our differences that we have really grown. I'd like to…
  • By far the books that have helped me the most are by Dr. Michelle May "Am I Hungry" and the new and improved version "Eat What you Love, Love What You Eat". It changed the way I look at food, eating, nutrition, dieting, exercise, and most of all, myself. I will be forever grateful to her for opening my eyes to this whole…
  • I would suggest going to your library and checking out some of their fitness DVDs to see what you like. You wouldn't have to buy any and could change it up whenever you got bored. I know it is so "yesterday" but loved "Sweaten to the oldies". He drives me crazy but the music is fun. I use my wii to do dance games and I…
  • FYI You can google the calories burned for different games on Wii :) I like the dance games and they really make me sweat but I don't feel like "ugh it's exercise". I just bought Dance On Broadway and I'm addicted. When I get tired of it I'm trading my sister for "Just Dance". I haven't tried wii fit but a friend of mine…
  • My personal belief is that the need for 8 cups of water a day is an out-dated myth. However, having said that, there are "certain times of the month" that I need to drink more so I don't retain. Here is my little tip.....every time I go to the bathroom I then drink a glass of water. I call it a "flush and fill" ;) Yes,…
  • Your dietary intake isn't made up of what you eat in a day.....it is what you eat over all. Let go of guilt, it will defeat you. Learn from regret and move forward. There is no starting over or taking it back.......so move on physically and mentally!! :) Oh...and you are not a "bad girl" for this. You made some unhealthy…
  • Welcome! There is a lot of support here. One suggestion I would make on exercise is all movement counts. Find something you love doing. If you hate "exercise" and keep it in a well defined little box as in "I have to go to a gym or it doesn't count" it may be discouraging. I love to swim and do it most mornings. I just…
  • Combat emotional eating with mindful eating. Check out Am I Hungry for more information but basically..... Lets say you feel sad and you want to eat. Is eating going to make you feel better? Only for as long as it takes for the food to be gone. When you feel sad (or any other emotion that makes you want to eat) you have…
  • I had a beef chimichanga today.....not catholic either!! Maybe this person wasn't catholic but saw all the talk about lent and thought it was a diet strategy?? :)
  • My recommendation is to ignore what a computer that can't think tells you to do and listen to your body. If you are physically hungry you need to eat. If you are not physically hungry try to figure out why you want to eat and take care of whatever the issue is.
  • I have lost 67 pounds and went from a size 26/28 to a 20/22 (current). I didn't try new clothes until I'd lost 50 and at that time I was in a tight 24. It depends on the clothes too. I carry all my weight out in front and when I stepped up the exercise the size dropped faster. I didn't go and buy clothes until my underwear…
  • The first text I ever sent was one that had auto finish....and a friend said she was on her way over and I texted back "Ugh!" not at all what I was trying to type!!! Then I was texting my sister about this guy I was dating. She wanted to know if we wanted to go on vacation with them. I said he probably wouldn't want to go…
  • LOL I am soooo not a morning person and never thought I'd switch. In general I don't think one time is better than another as far as health goes....I'm just glad I was able to give morning a chance because I NEVER thought I'd prefer it!
  • That is what i like about switching to mornings...I usually have the pool to myself!! ME time!
  • Good for you!! Unhealthy habits to healthy ones! It has taken quite a bit of time for me but it has become more "habit" and I feel "off" when I don't go now.
  • I don't have trouble with weekends....because I don't diet. I am always allowed to eat out and to choose whatever I want from the menu and eat as much as I choose to. I think when you are trying to diet or focused on losing weight it increases the challenges automaticlaly because "diet" means "I can't have...." to most…
  • Weight can fluxuate moment to moment and hour to hour as well as day to day. That is why weighing every day can be so misleading.
  • I want to be able to tip my head down and see my feet....without having to lean or use a mirror!

  • OH my gosh...LOVE Friends....I am made fun of all the time for quoting lol By the way..."How you doin'?" hehe
  • great job! It is hard to start changing those habits but soooo worth it! I tell myself I would never just casually show up for work late, or not at all, just because I wanted to sleep in or had something better to do. My workout shouldn't be any different. Both are necessary.
  • I use a four-really rule from Am I Hungry..... Do I really, really, really REALLY want it? If I'm going to eat everything else in sight to avoid it I might as well have it and enjoy it. No guilt. There are no 'cheat days" no "Starting over" no going "off plan" There is always moving forward living life.
