  • Continue walking thirty minutes per day.
  • It is a common misconception, even among uninformed doctors, that obesity causes diabetes. Newer, more in-depth studies tell a different story. In fact, diabetes can cause weight gain long before a diagnosis can be made and diabetes is genetic. You don't get it from being fat. There are more than 36 genes currently…
  • I refuse to give up my right to choose anything at any given time.
  • This is hard for me as well. A friend of mine, who does have money, donated his lost weight in dog food to PAWS. He had lost over 400 pounds and as he reached each goal he donated more dog food in celebration. He said lifting the bags and pushing the cart of the weight he used to carry every day was eye-opening. Well...I…
  • Thanks all, it's nice ot know it isn't just me :)
  • Why not try.....(heaven forbid!) honesty?? Tell them that you have worked hard to improve your health and you and your doctors are quite happy with where you are. Tell them their comments are deterimental to your health and hurtful. Tell them you'd appreciate their support. And for strangers....perhaps something like, "I'm…
  • I've heard that the more hydrated your skin is the easier it will bounce back....so extra water and lotion. I think I read that lotion with vitamin E helps.....but time, toning exercises and steady weight loss will help. Good luck!
  • It really doesn't matter if a person counts it or not. Typing a number or activity into a computer might burn an extra calorie.... but what really matters is does your body count it? Logging information is for your mind. Movement is for body and mind. Your body will decide if cleaning counts or not.
  • In my opinion "cheat days" are for those who are dieting. When I compare what I used to try to do to lose weight with what I am doing with my life today I know that every day is like my dieting "cheat days" because every day, every time I eat, I choose whatever I want. All foods fit. There are consequences to each choice I…
  • What finally helped me was I stopped dieting. I stopped counting calories. I stopped restricting what I could eat, and when I could eat. I let go of all the external rules and learned to trust my body to tell me when it needed food, what food it wanted, and how much. I stopped judging myself. I learned more coping skills…
  • Thanks amjmomma and Erin for your comments. It helps to have encouraging friends both in real life and at MFP :) Someone commented that the reason for having friends is for accountability. I respectfully disagree. I am accountable to myself. I am the one that will reap the benefits or suffer the consequences. I have…
  • I never tell my friends "good job" for being under thair calorie goals. I personally do not believe in calorie goals. I believe in fueling my body...satisfying physical hunger whenever it comes. I don't know if the person honored their body by being under their calorie goal or not. I don't know if they honored their body…
  • In my opinion the issue is in your first sentence....."I diet all day". If you are restricting all day then your body is probably hungry....and if you get too hungry you tend to over-eat to compensate. Check out Amihungry.com for some really good way to change thoughts and habits to make this journey a LOT easier. Good…
  • I sometimes "think for others" too much and not only do I feel judged but I find myself judging in defense. What I mean is....I will sometime see someone smaller or more fit at the gym and I say to myself, "She probably thinks I don't belong here" or "They are laughing at me" and then I start to mentally rip them apart,…
  • I don't want to think about this!!! But thanks for posting lol Hello my name is Lexie and I am a diet soda-aholic. Though I've already cut back to about 1 per day and haven't noticed a difference.....doesn't mean there isn't one!
  • OH my gosh HATE the sound of people eating soooooo much. Liked the movie "Julie and Julia" but couldn't take the mouth noises! Close your mouth and don't put a mic there!!!
  • Yep, had to switch to underwires to give me a lift when I got down ;)
  • You can click on add and add it just like you would food intake that isn't already listed. I play bells and saw a thread where someone though it shouldn't be counted as exercise. Obviously they've never played bells. They are heavy, weighted bells and a great workout. When I first started I could barely get through one…
  • Good luck to everyone on here! I don't know any of you, but I'm proud of y'all. I know how hard it is to lose weight as I'm only trying to lose a little and it's hard sometimes. Don't give up! [/quote] Good for you! And your "little" can be just as hard to lose as my "a lot". As a matter of fact, the heavier you are the…
  • I have to say the best thing for me is not just to be honest with myself but to be honest without judgement and with acceptance. I can compare what my best friend eats (skinny *****...in a loving way) to what I eat and say she definately eats way more than I do and doesn't gain a pound. Lucky her. I can't do that. Is that…
  • Calories burned is not an exact science so my opinion would be use either one but be consistant. If you use the treadmill one day and MFP the next you will have more inaccuracy than using one of the other.
  • My eyes also change colors with my moods ....black, grey, brown, green, blue.... I can also tie a cherry stem with my tongue.....and touch my tongue to my nose ;)
  • Agree 100% If I am hungry, I eat, regardless of time or calories remaining. If I am not hungry, I would go to bed. I also try to keep in mind that if I am hungry and I'm going to eat I don't need a large meal at the time when my day is winding down and I need less fuel.
  • My thoughts exactly. Comments like "they just don't get it" really? Are you this person's close personal friend and so you know what their life is like and what they do and don't get or where they are in their journey? As a race....the human one....the world would be greatly improved if we all worried more about what we…
  • I weigh in once a month or less usually. I don't want the number on the scale to become a definition of my journey. It's not about that. I know when my clothes get tight or get loose. I know when I have more or less energy. I know when I am feeling better or worse in general. Those are all measurements of how well I am…
  • Nope, I don't even sleep when others drive! Have you ever stolen anything from work?
  • Enjoy your Nook!! What I love is that I have millions of books at my fingertips where ever I am. My favorite author is Dean Koontz but his Kindle versions are expensive. (I'm a bargain hunter).
  • i agree with many of the posters here. Unless you plan to give up wine for the rest of your life don't bother giving it up now. Listen to your body and be aware. If you are eating when you are physically hungry and stopping when the physical hunger is satisfied having wine will not stop your weight loss.
  • Yes, love it! Have you ever weighed the amount it says on your driver's license?
  • LOL it will be awhile for me!!! I haven't changed mine in years!! Congratulations!
