  • Just a thought, if you really need to go out for a burger (because let's face it, restaurant burgers are da bomb!), why not split it with someone? Then your 1200 cal burger is only 600. Eat with a side salad. Still a high meal, but at least it will fullfill that craving? That being said, there are some fab resources online…

  • This is an exellent post and goes over the physical mechanics of losing weight wonderfully. I remember my trainer saying the exact same thing to me. They have hit the nail on the head. Sometimes though, weight loss (or more accurately, weight gain) is a mental factor. I posted this…
  • You will find lots of debate on here about starvation mode. I was curious about this too, so asked my trainer, and he is a firm believer in eating your exercise calories to avoid doing that exact thing. I believe you need 1200 min, so as long as you are over that I think you are okay. However, if you are working out, you…

  • I so want to try this! I saw some clips on youtube for some of the moves, and they sure are fast at it, but they did do the slow step by step breakdown first, so I would imagine that's what the classes would be like? I LOVE to dance, so I can't wait to try this, even if I look like a damn fool at first. I think you should…
  • I HATE SNOW!!!! Just when we were seeing grass, BAM! It has been the longest winter ever. Ugh.
  • Welcome and congrats for kicking that smoking habit (best of luck going forward with it too!). I love MFP and have found some wonderful support on here. I wish you the very best of luck in your journey!
  • Hiya Shelly! *waves back from Red Deer* Yes, and YUCK!!! Snow snow go away!!!! And it's the really wet heavy stuff too. When is spring going to get and stay here!
  • I posted a topic similar to this a while back. The consensus was that our spouses generally are just trying to brighten up our days, but in the big scheme of things, it is up to us what we do or don't put in our mouth, right?! That's what everyone was telling me. So I told myself, they're right! No matter if your spouse is…
  • thanks for posting! I'm always looking for good cost efficient healthy recipes!
  • I have issues with the wknds too as I generally take those day off from exercising. Hope you find what you are looking for on this site and welcome!
  • I love my kids. I hate what they did to my tummy! lol. I think one of the worst and hardest parts to lose weight is that lower abdomen. Great job, though on all your hard work. We will get there, one mom to another!
  • I know it's tough. I haven't looked at your food diary, and lots of people have given you advice on another thread, AND it's different for every person, so it seems. All I can say is eat clean (no processed stuff) and lots of fruit and veggies, and healthy protein. If you are working out lots, you MUST eat back at least…
  • welcome and best of luck!

  • Sure thing! I know it seems like a long journey, and it is, but you just have to be ready to change your life and make that commitment, and after that take it one day at a time. I wish you the very best of luck and know that you can do it!!!
  • I am so totally going to do this. To remind me of what I've lost. To encourage me to keep going. And the bonus, what a great workout to go for a walk up some crazy long stairs carrying one. thanks!
  • Way to go luv!!! You look amazing. Bet you feel even better! HUGE KUDOS!
  • I was almost 300 (290 when I was my heaviest). If you would like you can visit my pics post here: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/174504-half-way-there It has taken me 14 months to lose 75 lbs. Slow and steady I think is the only way to go for long lasting lifestyle changing effect. The very best of luck to you,…

  • That's awesome! I so want to try but haven't been able to get to one in a gym. Do you know where they are for sale?!
  • Officially less than half to go!!! I feel like I want to change my ticker now to what's left! Only 15 lbs to go now until my next mini goal! NSV the other day - a student at one of my card making classes made a comment as soon as she saw me how fantastic I looked after not seeing me for some time. I LOVE running into peeps…

  • A heart rate monitor. I bought mine at The Source (Radio Shack) for $80. I've seen them as expensive as over $400, but I think the average is around $100. I have found, since using, that I'm burning more calories that I thought. It's really useful!
  • A good rule of thumb (according to my trainer) is that we generally burn 10 calories per minute if we are working moderately hard. As for what to log it under, if it's a combo of strength, aerobic and calisthenic (including lunges, squats, crunches, etc), he also told me to put it under general circuit training. Hope that…
  • It has taken me a year to lose 65 lbs. I'm giving myself another year to finish it off. that will be 140 lbs in 2 years. Nice and slow and safe!
  • When my 5 yr old son told me my reflection looked bad because I was so fat. Nothing like your children's honesty to cut through you like a knife, but that was THE moment. After that everything changed.
  • I have a variety of Bollywood, Jillian, biggest loser and beach body workout vids. They all work as long as I put a good effort it. I like the combo of cardio and strength that they all do, AND I do them in a house filled with small kids. Good luck finding something!
  • Good luck with your new classes. I have been attending an outdoor bootcamp since Sept and I love it! It's hard, but being outdoors (rain, snow or shine!) is kind of invigorating. Plus you get the constant support of all the people in your group! It's a real team effort thing! You will love it I'm sure!
  • Hon, I know it can get discouraging when the scale doesn't move, but you have to remember that if you are eating enough healthy food (make sure you are continuing to fuel your body when you work out so you don't have a huge definciency every day from your exercise), you are doing your body so much good inside too! Your…
  • I just posted a similar topic the other day. http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/178922-for-the-married-peeps Mine says he wants me to help him lose the weight, but shows no real desire to change his eating habits. It's super frustrating. I think the best thing to do, as others clearly stated in my post, is to realize…
