1) I don't think everybody can pull them off. 2) For me it's really an all or nothing thing. If someone has one tattoo (or a couple is random places), I often find it looks tacky. If someone has full sleeves, a chest piece, etc, I find if looks much better. 3) There are exceptions to the rule, don't hate me. These are my…

Based on those numbers, there is no way you should be setting your goal at 2lb/week. You obviously don't have that much to lose. Try the same thing but with a more sensible loss. You will see that there will be a difference. ETA: Furthermore, if "sedentary you" decides to work out for 400 calories everyday, both "sedentary…

1) MFP isn't "allowing" anybody to lose weight faster than others. 2) They are both netting 1200 calories. If you didn't eat the calories back, you'd be under 1200 for the day. 3) Person A would theoretically lose at a higher rate because the deficit is larger. If that doesn't answer your question, is your real question:…

Now that you've changed it, it makes even less sense. The person with the office job eats more because the deficit isn't as big. These two people aren't losing weight at the same rate. You can't compare them.

If they set their weightloss goals appropriately (like say.. 1lb/week), they wouldn't both be assigned 1200 calories to eat. The teacher would be assigned more base calories than the person with the office job because it's about the deficit. Using your example: The teacher is given a deficit of 500, MFP would give her 1500…

I agree. There is no "rule". Just make sure you can afford it. No sense on getting into debt for a ring.

I used to swear by my Ta-ta Tamer from Lululemon. My breasts are smaller now though, so I have more options.

Great post!

Wait what?! This must be the source of my plateau!

While I think you are awesome and look great, and I agree that the BMI scale can be taken too literally, for someone with an average body type, who isn't dense with muscles... BMI is a good starting point. No need to rage.

Not if your only goal is losing weight. The 8 candy bars a day meal plan will leave you deficient in vitamins and other healthy things as well as make you a cranky person because you will be crazy hungry.. but you will lose weight. Because that will happen as long as you are burning more calories than you are eating…

It depends how much weight you have to lose. I only had 37 pounds to lose, I got to 25 lbs lost in about 5-6 months, but I've been working on the last 10 - 15 pounds for a couple months now. So if you only have 30 lbs to lose, expect a longer journey than those who you lost their first 30 out of 50 (or more) total.

My boyfriend quit cold turkey and only bought the electronic cigarettes to curb cravings when he was drinking. That only lasted the first month or so, now he is fine. Almost a year and a half cigarette free. An important thing to note is where you are from. In Canada, the electronic cigarettes are almost all (if not all)…

The right cuts being bacon, bacon.. and more bacon. Right?
-
I've experienced that people who go vegetarian just to lose weight usually fail. You need to have the heart and passion that animal rights activist usually have, or else you won't be able to resist bacon.

Amazing. You just can't learn that type of logic.

I lost most of my weight before strength training so I felt more confident than I think I would've at the beginning. But I regret waiting. People at the gym are friendly (exercise makes you happy after all!!) so don't be afraid to ask your peers, a trainer, etc. More importantly, have a routine. When you have a routine you…

You are the same as me but.. but you are making too much sense... you must be a Troll. Run along now.

I couldn't get passed the first sentence. Sorry.

This is a great post. Thank you for sharing.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is all.

Is it that you can eat anything you sprinkle cayenne pepper on and the calories don't count? If so, move out of the way!! I have some deep-fried twinkies covered in chocolate and cayenne pepper to eat!

^^ Yup. Just eat the yummies and move on with your life.

Thanks everybody. I mentioned it to him and he said he was planning on not using the Smith Machine next week anyway. He doesn't do legs often (because he has these lean rock hard legs), so I guess he was also worried about himself. And don't worry, I don't think I'll get bulky. We argue about it every day at the gym, lol…
-
I'm a new lifter. Can someone tell me why the Smith Machine is bad? I thought the whole purpose of it's existence was to teach proper form.
-
I would just like to say.. You have amazing legs. I want your legs. That is all.

I haven't read all the responses, so excuse me if I'm repeating. He could not want to comment because he is afraid to offend you, if that makes sense. If he gets too excited about your hot new body, he might be afraid you go crazy on him to the tune of "So what? You didn't think I was hot before?" Men think about these…

Windmills are good for warming up the upper body. However it's entirely possible that the pain wasn't from not properly stretching, but more so because you tried a new exercise. Your muscles will get use to the motion/stress and it will get better. Edited to fix typos

You clearly didn't read my reply. But thank you for flat out laughing at me. Very nice of you. ETA: Thinking someone is rude, does not mean being offended.
