On the other hand....Since BMI is a simple height:weight ratio, if you're very muscular, you could also be labeled obese regardless of your fitness level. Example: my hubby is a firefighter. At 5'10" and 205 with 13% body fat, he is considered obese. My opinion is that the BMI is a ill-fitting measaure of obesity on either…

I'm in.... Today - March 23rd - 188.4 lbs Goal for April 23rd - 178.4 (or maybe a little less)
-
That's a GREAT start! Congrats!
-
So far, I've lost a human brain (my husband would have hay day with that!) with a goal of losing a microwave :)
-
Congrats and keep it up!
-
Count me in! I'm training for a half marathon, and this will be another great motivator (I'm a bit competitive!) to get me out of bed to walk in the early mornings!
-
FANTASTIC!!!!
-
Way to go!!! I would recommend something other than a "cheat meal" though. Why not a mani/pedi, a new workout top, or a walk with a friend you haven't seen in a while?
-
Don't give up! There could be a lot of things going on that added to the scale. But....your feel great - that's a great non-scale victory!
-
I feel your pain - literally! Is it time to shake up your exercise regimen to give your metabolism a kick-start?

Weighing in is just a tool. Provided you're not driving yoursefl crazy about the .2 gains or losses, I think it's fine. If you'restarting to obsess over each gain or loss, it's time to find another strategy.
-
I don't think it adds to my weight loss efforts, but I can say that drinking tea (in place of soda) has cut down on some of the tummy pooch
-
I usually weigh in a couple of time as week - once on Monday as my accountability check for the weekend and once on Thursday morning just before an abs class I like.

If you know where you're going, there's a website (www.dwlz.com) that's helpful. She's a lifetime Weight Watchers member, so the info is WW points based, but can put a lot of restaurant choices in context for you.

I'm game! I really do need a little tough love when it comes to my eating habits. I'm fairly active, but simply LOVE to eat - particularly Mexican food. By the way, I had an orange, coffee with stevia and skim milk, and double fiber toast with reduced fat peanut butter for breakfast! I have a business lunch and dinner with…

I use it in place of rice for stir fry or as a quick shot of fiber in a veggie salad.

It's a bit late to join the March 4% challenge. With 10 days left in the month, I'm in for 1.33% or 2.46 pounds lost by the end of the month. I would also be willing to join the group if the same thing is done in April!
-
I would agree. Higher fiber, varied nutrients in the veggies and fruits with higher fat and processed stuff toward the top. makes sens to me!
-
Not sure if it's coincidental or truly related, but regardless of my weight, I always have a little pooch in my lower stomach, even though my midsection is fairly flat. Looks like there are several of us in the same boat (Doesn't mean I won't stop trying to shrink the poocj down though!)
-
Ok. so call me out of touch, but what does "BUMP" mean??
-
Congratulations! you look fantastic, and I would guess have a ton more energy! thanks for sharing your success with all of us!

I find that I lose faster when I have more to lose, and it get more difficult as the pounds fall off. 1-2 pounds a week is a safe bet. If you're under the care of a doctor, he or she may agree to a regimen that will take the weight off a little faster. Sounds like you're doing the right things by watching what and how much…

Wow - there are some HUGE losses posted since Jan 1st. I'm a big proponent of slowe and steady wins the race. For those who are pacing at more than 2 pounds lost per week, what's your secret and can you maintain it long term?
-
My stomach - I had an emergency C-section with my son and have one of the 6 inch vertical scars. Getting those muscles back into shape continues to be my most difficult challenge.
-
I love my eyes, my breasts, and my muscular legs

Diet is what and how you eat everyday - not just about specific food or calorie restriction. That said, if you can incorporate and maintain healthy dietary changes - go for it! If you can't maintain it, it's best to look for an alternative that suits your lifestyle :)

What 's that saying about being your own worst critic?. You had Indian food, and maybe it wasn't the healthiest choice, but.....you did switch to tomato-based sauces and chose tandoori chicken - your willpower won out in those cases. Celebrate those little wins and don't de-rail yourself with negative self-talk.
-
LOVE that! I think I may have to steal it (I don't plan on giving it back)

I've got a couple of things that I try: 1) If I catch myself before I've eaten way too many servings of fave foods - I get up, get a water bottle, and take a walk around the block. I clears my head, and I usually come up with other things I could be doing besides eating. 2) I'll call my sister or a friend and ask her to…
