My #1 starting place was logging accurately. I couldn't figure out why I wasn't losing weight because I didn't think I was eating "that bad". I logged my food on MFP for one week. Then, I realized how 'bad' I was actually eating - and by bad, I mean, I was eating wayyyyy too many calories! That brought me to step #2. Log…

I usually cook in the crockpot and then eat it during the week. I'm not sure if these are freezer-friendly, but wanted to share. My goal is to try a broth-based soup recipe soon.…

Hi there! We have similar stats, weight loss goals, and family lifestyles. Feel free to add me.

Been there, done that. Glad it was a lesson learned!

Hi there! Good for you for starting! There is a lot of helpful information here. Check out the announcements at the top of the thread. If you let MFP calculate your calories, it may be off. They give a lot of 1200 cals/day to people. Try this link. It will give you your TDEE, BMR, and total cals per day based on your…

Lately, it's been grits + chicken sausages. No prep and I can heat it all up at work. Good luck! ;)
-
I'm kind of all over the place. As of late: - Breakfast: grits + chicken sausage - Lunch: 1/2 sweet potato + protein (ham) or leftovers (which are protein + veggie), mushroom quinoa + veggie (add this quinoa with broccoli and you'll stay super full), this week: crab soup (tons of protein and fat). - Dinner: protein +…

I saw the Smart Made frozen meals but were a little too pricey. Good to know that it tasted decent. Interesting that it is made by Smart Ones. Doesn't surprise me it has ingredients that people can't pronounce.

Mine is open but I'm around 1400 cals. 5'3" SW: 193, CW: 182, GW: 140.

I have a very similar approach / mindset as you. * I chose to open my diary setting as public. At first, I kept it under lock and key. I didn't feel I could keep myself accountable because no one could see it. I decided to open it up for that reason. I wanted my friends to 'call me out' if I was being 'bad' or send a…

Thank you, @mcraw75 !

I find there is some legitmacy in 'set points'. From the URL OP provided, the opening statement says, "Your body weight set point is the number on the scale your weight normally hovers around, give or take a few pounds." It doesn't say your body normally hovers around that weight if you are trying to gain or trying to…

Estimate as best you can re: leftovers. Be realistic. I've come to find, if I can't log it accurately, I don't eat it. Buy a food scale and weigh your food! $10 at Walmart will get you started. Don't be afraid of it. Learn how to use the recipe builder. Do not deprive yourself of any food. Make it fit into your calorie…

@usmcmp I've read some awesome posts from you. Do you have anything to add to OP's question?

Thank you for the book suggestions and the YT recommendations and for reaching out. I'll do some research on these. Thanks again!

Hi Jen! I'm in the same boat. Will send you a friend request. Others feel free to add me. I'll motivate and keep others accountable.

Dinner is usually my biggest meal. I usually eat around 7pm but I don't have a particular time restriction. As long as I eat all of my daily calories with the 24-hour period, I'm happy. :)

What YT'ers do you recommend to teach fundamentals on strength training like squats, deadlifts, etc. for women?

I pre-log as often as possible. For me, it's pretty easy to pre-log breakfast, lunch, and snacks but sometimes, dinner can be up in the air (or I haven't compiled it from the recipe builder). It takes away the worry over what I'll be able to eat or not having enough calories. Sometimes, I pre-log for an entire work week. I…

Funny - I posted the same thing a couple of days ago. I only found the broccoli ones. Really good. @joanns1976: I found ours at Walmart.

I totally understand where you are coming from. Been there. Done that. Motivation gets you started. It's perseverance, patience, and consistency that keep you on track. Here are a few things that have helped me: - Have a goal(s) and stick to it. - Remember, it's calories in, calories out. As long as you eat less than your…

Nice transformation in just a couple of months! WTG!!!
-
I saw these a couple of months ago at Walmart. It was during our state-fair. I thought it was a homage to that, didn't even think about seasonal. I might have purchased them if it were pumpkin spice deep fried twinkies...
-
I bought this and the cheesy one. I normally buy my riced cauliflower from Trader Joe's but they've been out of stock (stores can't even order it) for over a month! :disappointed:
-
[quote Oh no, Hanover vegetables are normally sooo good! [/quote] I've never heard of the brand. I would have been especially upset if I knew they had good food normally and this turned out to be a dud. I make a twice-baked cauliflower. Triple the effort. Double the calories (it has cheese, cream cheese, and bacon) but…

How about these for the sweet potato casserole. Disclaimer: I have not tried either recipe but the ingredients seem to make it flavorful and nutritious. http://cookthestory.com/healthy-sweet-potato-casserole-recipe/ http://cupcakesomg.blogspot.com/2012/07/paleo-sweet-potato-casserole-and-rest.html

We bought the homestyle cauliflower (they didn't have the ranch or chipotle). My daughter said it tasted like salt water. It did. :disappointed:  And I love cauliflower!

Broccoli & Cheese veggie tots - yum! Kinda bummed 6 pieces are 130cals though. ;(
