sounds like you're eating too much stuff out of a box or pre-prepared in some way. if you buy whole, fresh produce, and take the time to prepare it yourself, I believe that would cut down on a lot of excess sodium.

And cancer! Everywhere!

err fruit juice is generally more calorie-dense than milk =/ also milk has protein whereas juice is just sugars. Anyway. Watermelon orange apple ginger so fresh and amazing. its pretty low in protein though so not advisable as a meal-replacement, just a delicious treat.

Is that really any cheaper? Almonds are super expensive. Maybe its an Australia thing.

I watched Dr Oz for the first time the other week. He is... completely full of crap. Felt like one big long infomercial. People actually take him seriously? I mean if you're going to do something extreme because you think you have food intolerances, do a proper elimination diet and reintroduce everything slowly, one…

Yay! You invented sarcasm. Congratulations, you're a genius! :drinker: :ohwell:

Sure, same measurement. But she said "The mile I ran" which changes things drastically. Because the distance is the same but the impact on the person involved changes based on variables. How fast was she running? Was it in soft sand or on a treadmill? Up a mountain? Its not the same even though the unit of distance…

What I do... sweet cravings: - dark chocolate - chocolate mousse made from avocado - smoothies made with banana, cocoa powder, etc - paleo banoffee pie. Not at all calorie-counting friendly due to large amounts of coconut cream & dates used. salty cravings: - make some chips, roast in oven. - kale chips were surprisingly…

Look, I'm in a serious minority here but I want to say.... if its not working for you, then maybe it's not for you. Maybe you need to try something else, maybe you have some food intolerances that you're unaware of. Not everyone can happily eat whatever they want and successfully lose weight. I did a lite n easy food plan…

This is such a non-argument. You guys are pretty much saying 'there is no difference' but then when pressed, will say 'the measurement is the same regardless of the composition'. And that is just completely mind-numbingly obvious. Like saying 'the reason there are more people in one restaurant than the other is because…

I meant that I feel pretty crap eating piles of bacon & eggs every single morning. It sits heavy in my stomach and makes me feel greasy. I'm making an effort to mix it up some days with green stuff and lighter breakfasts. Variety!

i'm not sure how the constipation and passing out are related..? I've always had low blood pressure. Need to eat something substantial for breakfast or I get dizzy & light-headed. I guess just make sure you have something like orange juice around, a little sugar hit can help. But really, I guess you need to scrutinise your…

I think the 1200 thing is too low in the majority of cases. Remember that the diet industry wants you to fail, so they make more profit. Not even talking about starvation mode or any of that.... 1200 is a lot harder mentally than say, 1600. Its harder to stick to, you're more likely to mess up and cheat. If you bump it up…

Giving up booze & cigarettes (drunk smoker) Though my wedding is on the 29th so I will have a bit of wine or something then I guess. But basically, working on staying sober for 4 weeks. Today I kickstarted a 'healthier' paleo diet too, as I seemed to be cheating a lot.. making desserts with paleo ingredients, eating bacon…

This guy said it best.

I think she feels like your attempt to be healthier is a direct criticism of HER choices. Which it's not, of course, but she is going to make it a ~big deal~ regardless. I'm guessing she's overweight?

for everyone following along, may I add that we say right from the start that weight-loss should be seen as a side-effect of eating well and feeling better. If you hate it, don't do it. Don't force yourself to stick to something just to see results, because it's likely that the weight will come back on when you stop it. So…

Its a photo of fruit & vegetables...... well that's depressing. why is there an eyeball in that shrub

um, as someone who's been eating paleo for about 6 months, I'll be the first so say that we do not try to 'disguise' the fact we eat a lot of fat. Its openly encouraged, and is in strict contrast to decades of 'fat is bad for you!!' scaremongering. There is also a stickied thread in our group where people have shared the…

yeah, this. also: I absolutely know what you mean by that. I can trust that my body is telling me the right things these days - whereas before I started eating fresh, simple food, I'd have just been craving KFC or burgers all the time.

eugh never. hate it. markets itself as healthy when its anything but.
-
*shrug* it's a pretty commonly held view amongst the people I know irl who eat paleo. Its really easy to find paleo bloggers yelling about poisonous tomatoes if you look for them... but I learnt right at the start to take everything I read with a grain of salt. Its all about adapting the principles to suit.

am I the only one feeling squicky about throwing away perfectly edible food? I mean, just because I don't want it doesn't mean I should just bin it :frown: also LedgeHanger - I've discovered the hard way that one biscuit = 24hrs of pain, bloating, etc. Its never worthwhile for me!

:laugh:great way to alienate my co-workers. I will keep that in mind for future family interactions though.

:drinker: I personally find calorie counting incredibly restrictive and boring. Apparently having 1/4 of a cup of icecream or 3 chicken mcnuggets is just SO much more rewarding than making a paleo banoffee pie and eating as much as you want. No two people should have the same paleo diet. Its pretty much about eliminating…

Started it around, idk, July or so. Dropped a lot of weight easily, have been maintaining (read: eating as much as I want and not logging anything) and working on building muscle lately. Basically... I flipping love it. I have NEVER been able to lose weight easily. before, it was an uphill battle and I found myself…

oh man, this is how I used to eat when I tried to be healthy. So boring! I never even seasoned it or anything. OP - fat is your friend :) For breakfast lately, I have been eating bacon and 'banana pancake' (mush a banana up with an egg, fry in bacon fat in pan). It keeps me full for 4-5 hours until lunchtime and I have no…

let me summarise it for you, then. - I dislike 'for women' style marketing, where you slap pink paint on something and hike up the price (and often drop the quality). - I dislike the fitness attitudes we as women are constantly bombarded with (ie, the idea that you can't lift more than 10lbs without turning into a man, you…
