  • Hey guys! The gastric sleeve saved me in so many ways! I am TWO YEARS POST OP now and my diabetes is IN REMISSION. NORMAL blood sugars. I was 35 years old and had just found I had type 2 diabetes right before I had the sleeve. I was honestly a little shocked! My BMI wasn't even that high--it was 38. I mean I was BIG but…
  • Congratulations and welcome to all you new sleevers! It will change your life! I struggled with weight most of my adult life.I also had type 2 diabetes. Since being sleeved 18 months ago I've lost ALL my excess weight, I have a healthy normal BMI, my diabetes blood sugar numbers are NORMAL and I feel great. Good luck…
  • I have to say, I would probably be in big trouble if I could sit and eat an entire footlong subway sub in ONE sitting. I would be having a hard time. I'm not going to lie at all. I am 18 months post op and I can only eat ONE HALF OF A SIX INCH SUBWAY sandwich when I'm having a "hungry day" and on less hungry days I can…
  • I have heard of a few people being re-sleeved or having it trimmed. The rose procedure is supposed to be for gastric bypass patients and it's NOT very good. Most of them experience a small weight loss and it usually comes back on pretty fast. The people I've heard of being re-sleeved typically had gotten super huge sleeves…
  • From a tiny town in Texas, now living near Temple and the Killeen area in Central Texas. I have lived in Georgia near Savannah in the past--and loved it there. Miss Tybee Island.
  • As far as anyone saying the sleeve stretches, it does "mature" a bit. When you first have surgery you typically will only be able to eat 1-2 ounces for a few months. Now that I'm over 8 months post op, I can eat about 3 ounces of protein and I'm stuffed. If I want to eat protein first and make room for some veggies, I can…
  • Hello, I see you chose the sleeve. If you look at the stats that are out right now, RNY people typically lose more weight in the first year but then it's pretty close to the same in years 2 and 3. As far as long term studies, I haven't paid much attention to the studies coming out now about sleeves done in the early…
  • Hey guys! I had my surgery Feb 2012. I actually traveled to Mexico to have surgery because I had no weight loss surgery insurance coverage. I've lost over 90 lbs and I'm almost to my goal weight. Loving the VSG life! :-)
  • I know what you're talking about it's the 5 day pouch test Here is a basic outline of what it is unless you want to pay for the full test at 5daypouchtest.com A lot of vsg'ers use it when I read on the forums. Days One & Two: Liquid Protein low-carb protein shakes, broth, clear or cream soups, sugar-free gelatin and…
  • The the OP-I think the BPD/DS is an excellent surgery. It has the best excess weight loss stats of any surgery out there. It also requires the most vitamins and doctor's visits. I hope you have a great aftercare program in place because you will need to get your vitamin levels checked at least a couple of times a year. You…
  • That's so sweet to hear! I'm new here and hope to enjoy the same support you do. So far everyone seems nice and helpful.
  • That's not a bad idea but I was wondering if anyone has personally used a body fat percentage scale? Does it only show you body fat %? Any help would be appreciated.
  • Aww that's great! Very inspiring to hear! I'm brand new here but I'm hoping this can be my weight loss tool that has a little "added support" of friends!
  • Maybe add an extra 30 minutes of exercise to the days you do work out and I agree with the other posters who said try to eat a lower fat content. I totally understand your deal with lack of sleep. When I work a lot sometimes I get just barely enough sleep. I wish you luck!
