  • Great job! Congrats. :)
  • Personally, I occasionally have short lived pain on a walk. Or random itchiness. It either is related to my shoes being toed too tight or an increase in circulation. It usually goes away after a quarter mile. Yours sounds a lot more persistent. I'd have a doctor check it out
  • Avocado, nuts, chia seeds..... vitamins in veggies tend to be more readily absorbed with fat, so make a vinaigrette with olive oil and dress away. Personally, I notice that without sufficient fat, I am starving!
  • Actually, your body becomes more efficient and burns less calories. Even with a ton of activity. So although, let's say if today you burned 5000 calories with activity X. Tomorrow (a few months from now), that same workout would burn less calories.
  • It probably took 30. But sometimes I am even skeptical about that. But I will tell you something, I lost more weight during 2012. Nearly 50 pounds. And I regained about 20 of them (it looks like my thyroid was to blame). Since the begining of the year I have been trying unsuccessfully to move the scale. I have been having…
  • The problem is, many doctors don't have the training on bedside manner. It is acceptable for your doctor to discuss your weight and potential issues with you. It is not acceptable to shame you, berate you, or blame your issues on your weight when they are not remotely related. The problem is that there are many doctors…
  • At the moment, I am in the same neighborhood I was for most of my 20s and 30s. This visit is a little different. I have more muscle, so I am actually wearing a smaller size then I did before. (I have the old clothing to confirm it) In around 10 pounds, I'll hit my high school and late teens neighborhood. But I hope to hit…
  • Inspirational OP. It is really frustrating, because doctors can be so useless and they have no idea how to care for you! I found an awesome doctor a few years ago. She is prescriptive towards me, and encourages healthy eating and other natural methods to deal with health issues. Lucky for me, I am pretty healthy. I am…
  • Here are the top 3 I can think of: 1. For some women it causes back pain (this can be mitigated for many with the proper sized bra, but not for everyone.) I am not one of those large busted women with that problem. My sister, who has another cup or so on me at a similar weight does. 2. Having large breasts has been deemed…
  • Breasts are made of fat and dense tissue. The amount you lose is dependent on your ratio of fat to tissue. Some people have denser breasts made up of little fatty tissue. These people tend to retain their size. If your breasts are made of more fat will lose more volume.
  • Well it depends. You can have straight hips, but still have hips (square hips). Or narrow hips (typical of apples and inverted triangles). Narrow hips = not hourglass or pear. You do need hips for an hourglass, but the width is key, enough to balance your shoulders. They don't have to be "round." Mine end up being high…
  • I never thought I was hourglass. I definitely considered myself #teampear. But with all of my starts and stops at weight training, I have managed to make my shoulders look a bit more proportional, so now I look more hourglass, even though there is a several inch difference between bust and hips for me. I also have…
  • Hate to be the voice of dissent here. But I am down 35 at the moment (I was even further along, but regained about 15 last year). At my highest weight, my bra size was 38F/36G (my underbust measurement was 37 inches or so). At my current weight my bra size is 34H/32HH (underbust of 33 inches). And when I was 15 pounds…
  • I really like kouign amans. I try to fit them in once a week. I know that the sugary, buttery flakey goodness is nutritionally useless.
  • Mine came out to 2250. This doesn't work for me at all. I maintain or even gain and not lose. I am still trying to find my "ideal intake" but that isn't quite it.
  • I like to make "salads" that are things like chickpeas, bell peppers, zucchini, avocado and chicken. In a lemony vinaigrette. Or I just eat my dinner leftovers. If I am actually eating a salad, I like to bulk it up with beans or grains. In the winter, I love to make lentil soups. With kale and sausage. Or curry powder and…
  • Likely pear. But it really depends on how your shoulder width compares to hip width.
  • Thanks! I lost this link. :) I used this calculator: http://www.fat2fitradio.com/tools/cbbf/ It looks like my "goal" weight is actually much higher than I have on my list now. :) I have even more lean body mass per this calculator than I have on other calculators I have used. Yay, I gained 8-14 pounds of muscle mass. :D *…
  • Oh that probably is having a huge impact. I don't know, but my TSH recently crept up to 3.6 or something, and that was too high for me. I had lots of symptoms. Now I am a little over 2, not sure if this is enough, but I just got labs about a month ago.
  • That's what I was thinking! Body shape and body fat percentages can differ quite a lot!
  • I am going to get this coat in a great color. Maybe teal. Maybe purple. Maybe dark pink. Hmmmmm...... All of my warm coats suck right now. I have an old pea coat. And a terrible fitting long wool coat that is really boxy. I went to a craft show, saw it and tried it on. It was a tiny bit too small in a 14, but still looked…
  • Hmm. Well I guess I would like a few more clothing store choices. I am at the top end of most stores at the moment (the ones for women at least). It would be nice to be able to fit into pants at H&M. And go to BCBG to get something not knit. I won't ever have an easy time clothing shopping as I am both busty and have big…
  • I am about 5'4" and 215ish. My shape is hourglass-ish. My measurements are roughly 42(34H)-34-45 I typically wear a 14 in dresses/skirts, 16 in pants generally if they are "curvy fit." If they aren't curvy fit, I might go up another size, or if they do not have any stretch. Tops are generally L-XL depending on if they are…
  • 100% agreed! I wear my skinnies with a longer top. Usually layers, like a long cardigan too. And make sure they are mid-rise or hit me at my natural waist for the best look! At the end of the day, my thighs are already big. I don't think I have ever tried on a pair of jeans in my entire life that was loose in the thigh.…
  • I wasn't a big drinker at your age, and I am not now. I basically skipped the binge phase and went straight to the artisan drink phase. :) I have some friends that drink more than I do, but everyone knows me and my low tolerance are only going to have 1-2 cocktails and call it a night. :) The harder part is finding more…
  • I like the shape of 4 or 5 better on you! Better for highlighting your waist (which does exist Ms. Apple!) I like the pattern of 5 better, but 4 is nice too. I think the necklines for the other ones are too high!
  • I am all over the map with cravings. Olives, seaweed, bread with EVOO or butter, chips, pretzels, nuts. I use all of them to satisfy cravings. Jicama is awesome when you have a crunchy craving. Add lime, chili flakes and salt. Delicious! And tons of fiber.
  • I am a tiny bit over 5'4". Currently at about 215. Shooting for 165ish, so I have a ways to go. Well I am really shooting for measurements of roughly 38-27-39.
  • Losing even 10% of your body weight reduces your blood pressure, insulin levels and risk for high cholesterol. Exercising regularly helps your BP and your heart health. It is all a win! P.S. you should get some tests done. Before and after on cholesterol, resting pulse, blood pressure, blood sugar, and triglycerides are a…
