Are you go over on calories? That's the only one that matters for weight loss. Going over on protein is a good thing....but I'm guessing if you're a veggie that's not the case.

What have you tried and what results have you had?
-
Erm, no. It's not that simple. Eat less than your TDEE and you'll lose weight. But where that weight loss comes from - ie fat or muscle - is a bit more complicated. The best approach is to incorporate some weight training/ lifting into your exercise routine, and keep your protein intake high. This will help you preserve…

1. Your diary isn't open. 2. A small amount a week is good - how much are you aiming to lose? 3. How long have you been doing this?
-
I don't think it'd be more than 1400 - why do you think that it is?
-
What a marvellous opportunity - have fun! Tips wise - drink lots and lots of water. It will help your skin look clear, your eyes bright, and helps your digestion.

I'm going shopping later. My menu plan for the next few days includes chicken Caesar salad, fish pie, sweet potatoes with chorizo, beef and broccoli stirfry, and red thai prawns with rice.
-
Is that one portion? It seems a lot - I'd have half of the oats and yoghurt.

There isn't one number. Your weight varies throughout each day, and changes as a result of many other factors. Relying solely on what the scales say is not helpful.

Hello to you both! You'll find us pretty friendly on here B)

Yes, I do! I do the Saturday parkrun with my cocker spaniel, while my Weimaraner is my usual long Sunday run companion (he's not good with crowds....) I've also done some "Waggy Races" events which are specifically canicross running-with-dogs races. Do make sure that your dog is over 12 months old before running with them,…

I don't think a pound a day is a healthy goal. I also don't think there's a "never ever" about 1200 - it's a good guideline, though.

I've been using mine for a week now. I find the analysis of sleep patterns interesting, and the number of daily steps. What are you hoping that yours will monitor?

http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/100058-5-2-fasting This is a very useful group to answer all 5:2 related questions. The "science" behind it is that when you restrict your intake to approximately 1/4 your daily requirement, your body is forced to repair its existing cells, whereas when there's plenty of food it…

I came back to apologise for being snappy and rude - I've been without my vitamin D tablets all week, and I'm just realising how crabbit that makes me :) There is no fat in jam - advertisers who put big signs saying "low in fat" on foods that don't have it to begin with always make me cross. Reduced fat foods have other…

I have 4 faves that I vary between: 1. Egg scramble - 1 or 2 eggs, or 1 whole and 1 white, done in the microwave with mushrooms, tomato, ham, spinach, leftover veg, sprinkle of cheese, or something. 2. Overnight oats - porridge oats soaked overnight in yoghurt/ fruit juice/ milk, with added dried and fresh fruit, seeds,…

Sorry, I'm still lost on low-fat jam. There is no fat in jam, you don't need a special variety. And I'm not convinced about the value of low-fat white chocolate either, sorry!
-
What is low-fat jam?
-
More veggies, definitely. But more protein too, to help you feel more satisfied. Also, wait 20 minutes before grabbing for more food.

Do you know your average speed? The running/ walking/ jogging entries all have speed options, pick the one that's closest to yours.

Cough syrup is going to be a lot - I remember a thread a while back from someone who was horrified to discover that it had carbs in it! It's sugar. And quite a lot of it. But your heath comes first.
-
I do a lot of running, so my non-fast days tend to have a 5 or 10 km run in them, or else a dance class. Eating wise - breakfast of eggs or oatmeal, lunch is soup or salad based, anything goes really for dinner. I try to keep my proteins and carbs about 100g per day, but it's no big deal if I don't reach that. Fruit maybe…

http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/100058-5-2-fasting If you're interested, come and join one of the groups on here. Lots of people have had success with it, though many have also found that it's not for them. That's OK, we're all different, a one-size-fits-all approach isn't good. Try it for a month and see how…

As others have said, it's good for working your core. Not that good for burning calories, though.
-
Is your glass half full or half empty? You need to define "glass".
-
Are you googling, or using the MFP search button?
-
Why do you want to lose it fast? If that's what MFP has suggested for you, then go with it for a few weeks and see how you find it.
-
Keep busy, drink lots of water, and have your menu planned out in advance!

parkrun, rugby, champagne!

Can't see your diary but I'll have a guess: You're eating cereal or toast for breakfast, probably with fruit juice. Drop the juice, and switch to eggs or yoghurt some days. You're having a scone or biscuit mid morning - swap for a piece of cheese or some nuts. You have a sandwich for lunch - swap for soup or a salad. You…
