  • In high school I was 5'4 - 5'6, and at my highest weight 102 lbs. I grew up in Ft. Lauderdale, Florida so everyday was a bikini beach day. I remember thinking I was too fat they whole time, even when I had to use safety pins to pin the waist of my 26inch waist jeans to make them stay up. I had a hard time finding jeans…
  • Up until I turned 43 I was a stick and I could eat anything I wanted. I usually didn't eat much all day but a fast-food lunch (Burger King Big Mac with cheese, large fries, chocolate milkshake) and candy bars out of the vending machine at work with lots of coffee all day long. For dinner I ate mostly fried foods, extra…
  • Up until the Dec 2012 I bought into the eat as few calories a day as possible to lose weight, and year after year I gained weight. By Dec 2012 I was eating maybe 1000 calories a day, I was run down, sick most of the time and at the highest weight I'd ever been. I'd tried everything else and decided to go with the TDEE 20%…
  • thank you Hearts! Great article.
  • I can only say that I know how you must feel. I also have a sister with unhealthy compulsions, alcohol and under-eating, that I can do nothing about. It's hard to stand by and not try to get through to her and offer advise and information, but the backlash when I do try is just as difficult to handle. The harder I tried,…
  • Midnight movies Rocky Horror and Song Remains the Same Both many many many times. Late 70s :smokin:
  • :flowerforyou: Be kind to yourself, you're in a stressful, emotional situation right now. It's okay to feel guilty about missing a workout as far as knowing you need to keep yourself healthy, but it's not that big of a deal. Try to plan a half hour that you can sneak in a walk or some yoga. They'll help you reduce your…
  • All my life I was a skinny stick, never had to diet and was at a healthy weight. I was started on Zoloft for depression in 2008 and was on it until I told my doctor I was going off of it and not going to try anything else. In 3 years I gained 55 pounds. Nothing I did stopped the gaining until I quit the Zoloft. It…
  • Great Game Ladies! Congrats Canada! :flowerforyou:
  • Same for me. I don't have a problem drinking 8 cups of water, I usually drink 10 to 12 a day. An actual cup of water once you measure it out isn't much. 2 drinks and it's gone. My glass holds 3 cups of water, so 3 of my glasses of water is 9 cups. No problem. :drinker:
  • If the camera makes you look heavier than you do in person - YIKES! It will be hard to sustain that result for the long haul. :ohwell:

  • Hello, I've been eating right and exercising more since Jan 2013 and met my first goal of getting out of the 190s in May. I've been trying different things to make my next goal of getting out of the 180s since then. I think my biggest obstacle is not enough activity on a regular basis. Weekly mini-goals may be just what I…
  • I had 2 mom's, my mom and my mom-in-law. Whenever I'm in a bad spot or disappointed these always come to mind: The only way out is through. It's better than a stick in the eye. If you have a wish in one hand and a big turd in the other, all you have is a handful of $#&T. (Still cracks me up)
  • These are some things you can try that may help without having to count calories: Eat small meals or a small snack every 2-3 hours so you are never at the starving point. You can actually eat a healthy snack up to 1 hour before going to bed. Eat a breakfast meal or snack within 30 to 60 minutes of waking up Make sure each…
  • I have been alternating just 15 minutes of normal walking or 15 minutes of floor exercises like leg lifts or some arm exercises with light weights or some basic yoga moves 5 days a week. Just that little bit of time has made a huge difference in how I feel and I've lost 6" around my waist since Jan 2. I have to sit…
