If it has a * in front of the items name, it is added from a user. Look for the ones that do not have the * in front of the name, it is from the MFP creators.

I started in January and the first week I lost 9 pounds. Just by logging my food, and I stopped using cream and sugar in my coffee (which was saving between 500-600 cals per day!!).
-
I just did the same. I upped my cals from 1200 to about 1400. I seen a post that said the closer you get to your goal weight, the smaller the deficit should be (within 10-15 pounds, I think). I had plateaued for a month and a half, and in two days I lost 2.5 pounds, and then another 2 pounds two days later. I did go from…

I would definitely try it. I was at 1200 since January and lost 20 pounds in 8 weeks and then stalled for over a month. I decided to increase to 1300-1400. My calories burned from activity level is at 1700 so I still have a deficit. Since increasing over the last week, I have lost 5 pounds. I just read someone's post a few…

Today is awesome because I am getting my gym membership!!!

I have had it for a few years and absolutely LOVE it!! It is the one DVD that gets used. It has longer workouts (45 mins, I think) and shorter ones (20 minutes) for busy days. It didn't take long to get results either!

Same here! Yesterday it was 70 degrees outside and inside the house. I had a long sleeve shirt on, a t-shirt over that, jeans and socks and shoes, I was still freezing. While everyone else is in tanktops, shorts and flipflops. I still have the fleece blankets and comforter on the bed at night (hubby hates it). I still have…

Thank you for this article. I was recently trying to find out how many grams of sugar was reasonable, and if going over on sugars from fruit was fine and this is the page that I found. http://paleodietlifestyle.com/10-reasons-why-fructose-is-bad/ I don't follow the paleo lifestyle, but this did settle the debate over…

I do!! Our family team is walking the March of Dimes-March for Babies, this coming Saturday in Dubuque, IA!!! Even my boys, ages 7 & 5, walk the entire 4 miles with us, and have since the oldest was 1 (in a stroller of course). This will be the first year they will actually be walking, they both have also went out and…

I am doing the Primal lifestyle. I have found it works great for me. I know this is a lifestyle I can maintain forever, not just a fad diet. I cut carbs to 50-100 (which isn't drastic to me, I actually get to eat quite a bit) to lose weight and 100-150 carbs to maintain. I have also looked for recipes to replace the things…

I was starting to think the scale and measurements were lying because after 20 pounds and 2 months, no one said anything. Not even the hubby. Until I went to parent/teacher conference, and as soon as I walked in the classroom, without even a hello, my sons teacher said, "Wow, have you lost weight, you look so good!" From…

Hello! I recently watched the "big fat fiasco" video done by the same guy and then watched fathead. I totally agree with everthing he said and since have changed my eating habits. I have lowered my carbs to under 100, protein up to 100 and have my cals set at 1200. I had to really look for recipes to replace what I…

I found this site-Marks Daily Apple. I find this is what works for me. It is not drastic (to me), and teaches me to make it a lifestyle instead of a temporary diet. I think the key is to find substitutions for the things you are eliminating. Bad carbs-bread, pasta, rice, cereal (even whole wheat). But to me, I couldn't…

There are probably a million reasons people are not the greatest at spelling. Maybe they dropped out of school because their parents were drunks and didn't support them. Maybe they had a learning disability and found english difficult. Do you really think your post is going to change that if 12 years of english classes…

Bodyrock.tv.com or toneitup.com. I use both to put some variety in my workouts.

What a shame! I think some "reading" needs to be incorporated into you studies at University. she asked what to do about headaches. I could see you needing to respond if she asked, "I am considering a low-carb" diet, what are your opinions on this?", but she didn't so I don't see why you are even commenting on this thread.

I have never heard of it, but sounds delicious, will have to try, thanks!

Lol, I do go to Dubuque to Aldi, but only go once a month to stock up on certain things. It takes a lot of gas to go, and the hubby only works a block away from the Walmart in Galena, so no extra gas is used on our weekly trips to walmart. But I do like going to Aldi :)

Hydroxycut just helps eliminate water retention, as the name suggests. And for dieters that don't know that think it is awesome when they lose the first 10 pounds really quickly. I guess to jump start a new diet it might be worth trying, but it is only gonna work for the initial water weight. But I lost 9 pounds in the…

I am just the opposite right now. I am not sure if this works for everyone but thought I would share. I started in January and have always had really long, heavy periods with lots of cramps. After researching nutrition, I increased my potassium to 2500 mg and lowered my sodium to 2000. I monitor both on my food diary. The…

Yeah, that I would discuss with a doctor, but it is in alot of food. The only hard part of tracking it in your food diary is, alot of people do not add it when they make entries. Coffee, yogurt, fruit. Since I wasn't finding accurate numbers in alot of the foods in the database, I found nutritiondata.self.com. It gives…

Do you know what your potassium intake is? Potassium seems to offset sodium. As long as your potassium is equal or more than sodium you are fine. I set my potassium to 2500 and sodium to 2000. If I meet these goals for each day, then my actual sodium to count would be 500. Watching your potassium/sodium intake is more…

Bodyrock.tv.com and toneitup.com both have excellent workout videos on their site, and are free to watch. Toneitup also gives daily challenges so you can change it up and not get bored with the same old workouts. I think there are also Zumba videos on youtube you could check out.

I want to tell you that you are making the best decision, trying to find alternative ways to deal with your pains. I had injured my knees in 2006 and was told that there wasn't really anything they could do but give me pain killers and told me to limit activity. I did take the medicine for a few months. Then I was…

I found a cheap-o scale at Walmart for $5. It is not digital but still works. The thin sliced lunchmeat I buy is 4-5 slices for 2 oz.
-
I really wouldn't worry about 30 extra, but if you really want to stay under I would skip the bun.
-
Sure did. I lost 9 pounds in the first 6 days. I knew it was from water, but that was almost 25% of my weight lose goal, so I was happy! Water or fat-I'll take it!!
-
I was curious about alternatives too and found this site with recipes. I can't wait to try them. I also scroll through the comments below the recipe, because others add more alternatives to the recipes. Hope this helps. http://thisprimallife.com/2010/08/a-primal-sandwich-solution/

Just add .75 of 1 cup serving, it should come out accurate.
