  • I have under active thyroid. It is hard to motivate when I can hop all day and not see any results. But if I don't I guess I will gain. I have at least 20 pounds to lose.
  • I pay attention to what I eat in regards to like a big spinach salad (add red onions, some fat free cream cheese and a few roasted pecans or almonds) with Roasted Raspberry Chipotle Sauce looks a lot more filling to my eyes than say a Fiber One bar. It takes time to compare. But soon you will see a egg white omelet filled…
  • Since you have the same HRM and strap...I too wonder about how shows half the calories burned to other devices. I have wondered if it was from under active thyroid or if it is the HRM itself. I am considering purchase of new HRM with strap to compare. That's why I would like to know what is recommended for HRM strap that…
  • Wear the HRM strap to bed and look at it in the morning before you get up. 15% of Americans have thyroid problems and many do not know they have it. Doctors do not check it during annual physicals. It is a different blood test. I think it should be tested since many of the 15% population do not know they have it!
  • HRM with chest strap. Then if you have under active thyroid, you will find you burn a lot less than the average person next to you doing the same exercise. It hits home knowing you have to work twice as long and hard to burn a calorie off than other people. Since I have under active thyroid, my calories burned is usually…
  • The Skotidakis Jalapeno Greek Yogurt Dip and Golden Grill Russet Hashbrown Potatoes are really good. Also the Bellavitano Sartori Merlot cheese is the best ever, but I only eat if I need the fat & protein for the day and I weigh it so I do not take more than one serving. I usually have it with 3 of those pretzel crackers…
  • There are so many posts on this thread, I just wanted to reply to someone. I read an article too about lifting weights like 15 years too late. I have started weight lifting too and I cut out almost too much fat having 20 grams leftover at end of day. I am trying to put back in some fat so the number is closer to zero at…
  • Hi Everyone, I am back on the band wagon after I went for my annual physical last week. I have been doing exercise classes and lifting weights at the gym 3-6 days a week since we joined Jan 15th. I did not lose anything until that physical. I had gained back 10 pounds out of 30 I lost. So, since last Tuesday I have been…
  • Apocalypse and Kiosk. Also I guess I say vax and fax the same. In the 80's I used to work on a vax computer,. Later when the fax machine was popular, I would pronounce fax the same way I pronounced vax. My husband has been correcting me ever since. I guess I can't hear the difference and you would think the beginning…
  • Hi - I just found the end of this thread. It is twenty pages long at this point. Count me in. I am over 50 and need to lose all the way down to 150. That is what the doctor wants. I have about 13 more to go. I did not log the weight that came back on at Christmas. I hope to shake that off and get back to pre-Christmas…
  • I agree. Bought one at KOHLS on sale. I took it back as the two pads ended up in the center of the bra after exercising  Even the clerk cracked up.
  • What stores carry Steel's? I have not ever seen that syrup in the stores. We have Price Choppers, Hyvees, Hen Houses, Walmart, and Target stores here.
  • I look up the fast food name in MFP database before I order. Doesn't take long to find out how many calories are in each menu item. Pretty soon, I didn't go to our favorite fast food place anymore because there was nothing on it that had low enough calories. Then started going to fast food places where menu items actually…
  • First time I have tried a calorie counting diet. This app takes so much of the calculating out of it, which makes like so much easier.
  • During a routine physical about March 5th, my primary care physician took blood samples as usual. After she got the results, she told me I have under active thyroid. It felt like a new chapter of my life where I HAD to take medicine everyday. I decided to take it in the middle of the night between 2:30 and 4:30am since I…
  • Ask your primary care physician. Mine said stationary bike. I asked other doctors I just happened to be seeing and they all said stationary bike. I do not have any injuries. The reason is because stationary bike is not as hard on your joints as a treadmill. As the same question to the doctor but ask if their answer would…
  • I also have been trying to figure how long it will take me to lose it all going at the current weigh loss rate I have been. After I have faithfully stuck to my calorie input and burn calories, logging it all in, I took the amount of weeks it took me to lose the first ten pounds, gave me an average per week. Then I took how…
  • If you know what type of drinks you will be ordering, do a mock food log and it will tell you what the calories are in the drink. I recently plugged into my recipe tab the margarita recipe I have been using for the last 25 years. Now I actually know what calories I am drinking and will think twice about having a second one…
  • I posted question on blog at http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/shastar and no one even bothered to respond. It is somewhat like this question.
