Nine pounds in nine weeks would be a dream for me, and it's theoretically doable if I can get off this pleateau. Heck, if I can just lose four I'll be below 180 for the first time in far too long. Fantasy goal: 10 lbs Realistic goal: anything But on the plus side, the dress I wear almost every year for Christmas is gone to…

I love cottage cheese, but I still can't bring myself to eat it as a sweet rather than savoury. Usually I just eat it as is with a little salt and pepper. I also love to mix it with sauerkraut.

Due to family schedules this year, we're not having a big Thanksgiving dinner. Just pie and coffee tomorrow afternoon. And I'm going to get a huge piece of pumpkin pie, drown it in whipped cream, and not regret a single bite of one of my most favourite foods shared with my family on the holiday.

Growing up lower middle class on the rural Canadian prairies in the 70's and 80's, we had no excuses to be overweight as kids. All meals were homecooked from our gardens and with cheaper organ meats such as beef heart. Dinners out were once a month on Sunday after church, or as a very, very rare treat. We had 3 TV channels…

In for number 5 or 6... I lost count. If I'm going for coffee coffee, I like McCafe over Tim's and Starbucks. Can I keep my Canadian Card still if I live for maple syrup and have actually curled?

Out in our neck of the suburbs, Timmy's are sprouting up like weeds. There almost is one every other block now. And a Starbucks on the blocks where there's no Timmy's. It's kind of disgusting when you think about it. I gave up on all of the Tim's specialty drinks a few years ago when I heard it's all just mixes and loaded…

I don't know about diet/low sodium, but the price on meats, dairy, and eggs is fantastic in WA compared to BC. We head to Costco and load up on the basics.

A makeover is definitely in my future. I'm not sure what goal I'll set it towards, but I'm going to need one and shed my old look. :) I guess my reward currently has been digging out the back of my closet and finding old clothes I can wear again. It's sort of almost like buying a new wardrobe. And it's been so satisfying…

Be sure and get one with a digital timer, if you can.

When we go to Costco for a cheap hotdog meal, I load it up with ketchup, mustard, relish, sauerkraut, and jalapenos.

I have an older Hamilton Beach indoor grill and use it all the time. It's perfect for cooking for two people. I cook all sorts of different meats on it such as steaks, burgers, chicken, fish. Just have to set the timing right to keep it from drying out. I did chicken breasts on it just last night and they were very juicy.…

I love making soup, it's so easy and can be different every time, depending on what I have in the fridge and freezer to use. Last night I made a huge pot of ground beef, quinoa, broccolinni, spinach, and asparagus soup. Have enough for lunches for the rest of the week now, too. I was lazy and just used a package of…

I used to microwave spicy capicolla ham until it's crisp and shrinks up into almost a little bowl, then add a bit of Laughing Cow cheese. Could dip in salsa for extra spicy kick. Not sure what the calories would be on that, though.

I buy the frozen spinach nuggets, give a couple a quick nuke to defrost, and drop them into a whole lot of different dishes. It's an easy way to add an extra vegetable serving to a dish. I toss them into soups, sauces, scrambled eggs, all sorts of stuff.

I love these and pick them up at the produce market. I've only seen the red ones, though. They might look a little daunting when you pick one up, but it really is as easy as cutting it open and peeling off the skin.

You have some great advice here, OP. I truly wish you the best on this journey and changing your life. My thought would be to tackle a habit at a time and not overwhelm yourself. The first thing that jumped out at me is eating in bed, and getting out of that habit. Put on clean sheets and make the bed a food and crumb-free…

As long as my employer keeps paying for them and bringing in a nurse to administer them, I'm getting the shot. My parents are getting older, and my grandfather will be 102 next month. I'm not going to be the person who kills any of them just because I couldn't be bothered to get the shot when it was offered for free right…

Pumpkin pie hidden beneath a layer of whipped cream... god help the individual who gets between me and my pumpkin pie. I managed to restrict myself to just one piece last year. Usually I eat several pies by myself along with a can or two of whipped cream. I want pie...

It worked for me, and I was quite successful on it several years ago. I also found I learned a better appreciation for many foods while on it. But I find MFP and logging calories to be all around better for me personally. No phases, no strict food restrictions, no SBD flu. As long as I am within my calories, I don't have…

I'd much, MUCH rather have a full and uninterrupted night's sleep than be up peeing and drinking unnecessarily. And most of us weigh less in the mornings without drinking all night. **ETA the rest of the sentence** than we do in the evenings.

Aim to lose weight at a sustainable rate for your overall health and don't stress about losing as quickly as you can for an event. This is about changing your life and setting healthy habits to live by.

Last time I was there, a fellow was taking pictures of himself with the 5 kilogram tub of Nutella.

All of the above! But definitely meats, bread, dairy, eggs. I buy a lot of the frozen plain fish fillets as well. I also watch for what's on special that trip. I immediately freeze most of the meat except for what I know I'll use in the next couple of days. Word of caution if you're not a regular Costco shopper, the value…

Extremely. I generally make it in the rice cooker.

I just had a salad for lunch: Spring Mix Cucumber Grape Tomatoes Feta Cheese Chia Seeds Raspberry Vinegrette With a small chicken breast on the side. Not terribly exciting, but I like it.

Diet Coke... to wash down my Big Mac and fries.

I go over every single day. MFP has me set for 1280, which is just unsustainable for me personally. So I shoot to stay under 1,500. I'm still losing, and life is a little more enjoyable.
-
Another vote. I buy several bags every time we go down to Costco in the US.

Destroying the crops kind of flies in the face of all the humanitarianism of solving world hunger, doesn't it.

Sure, excessive amounts can lead to serious health problems if you drink nothing but bottles and bottles of it every day. But we're talking about a very moderated amount. A can here or there is not going to cause your teeth to fall out, your dog to run away, and your kidneys to implode. But these threads are always…
