  • Salt & vinegar chips with the Helluva Good Onion Dip, and I'll eat until I'm sick. Salty snacks have always been my undoing. Most times I can keep myself to a reasonable portion, but something about salt and vinegar makes it really hard to stop.
  • I originally did a giant closet purge and got rid of everything with an XL tag on it except for the items I couldn't bear to part with. I even purged the skinny clothes that I'd been holding onto for that day I could fit into them again because they were just old, out of style, cheap fabric, etc. Because I was always in…
  • It certainly isn't. We've been watching a friend's wife slide into and denial of anorexia, and she's in her early 40's. A desire to lose a few vanity pounds turned into cutting out everything "bad" and swiftly led to orthorexia. I've watched her have nothing but a cup of hot water at functions, because she doesn't eat…
  • I've tried to like stevia, but I just can't get past the bitter aftertaste. I use Splenda/sucralose due to taste preference.
  • I have a similar book called "Cooking Without Mom" that my mom gave me when I moved away. I still reference that book now and then for the simple basics.
  • I just picked up knitting a few weeks ago myself. Guess what everyone will be getting for Christmas this year... lol Busy fingers aren't snacking fingers, especially when you want to keep your work clean. And I actually find it therapeutic after a long day at work.
  • When my hair was down past my bottom, I only washed it about twice a week (or less) and left it to air dry. I'd just pin it up and shower on the other days, getting a little extra rinsing water into the hairline when I washed my face. I still only wash it about every third day and leave it to air dry.
  • That's why you read all of that lovely paperwork the pharmacist sends along with the medication and take it properly as prescribed. Or maybe I'm the weird one who reads all of the information available before taking a new medication. How else are you going to know if you can mix it with alcohol and peeps, after all. SMH
  • Tuna sashimi, spicy tuna roll, negitoro roll... and loads of specialty/house rolls from our favourite restaurants.
  • We have a new Walmart Supercentre near us, and I find the produce can often be better in quality and price than Superstore. We grocery shop at either Walmart or Superstore, just depending on what end of town we're in. The meat at Walmart, however, is pretty bad from my experience. I won't buy it there anymore.
  • Yogurt can be expensive here, so I'm pretty brand agnostic. I look at what's on sale first, then see if I can find something with a decent protein/calorie/serving size ratio. Unless there's a good deal on the single-serving cups, I usually just buy a large tub of vanilla yogurt then add in frozen fruit when I dish it into…
  • I hated mushrooms so much as a kid that I would throw up if I ate them. Even if I thought something *might* have mushrooms in it, my stomach would tie up into a knot and I couldn't eat whatever it was. Took me well into adulthood before I'd brave eating fresh ones. My stomach still twinges when I eat slimy canned ones,…
  • It's that magical time of year when the local blueberries are in season! Raspberries and blackberries are also favourites. And dragonfruit for something more exotic.
  • Right now it's coffee, hot or cold-brewed tea, water, often a glass of pop or sparkling water in the evenings. Growing up it was water, juice, milk, sometimes Kool-Aid or powdered ice tea in the summers. We only had pop once a week as a treat on Friday nights.
  • What worked for me was setting a limited goal to achieve. I started 30 Day Shred and promised myself to just see it through those 30 days of getting up early and working out. Completing that goal was all I worried about, and following a set program made it easy to just get up and do it. By the end of that month, the habit…
  • I go for the 85% dark chocolate and maybe get a few groceries while I'm there. lol I usually always grab a frozen spinach and kale pie, some pomegranate yogurt, and a bottle of wine. Hubby loved the beef and broccoli we picked up to try last time, so that'll be on the permanent list. We usually grab a couple of new things…
  • The moment when I knew I finally had to take control of my weight was the night of my husband's work Christmas party when I was at about 210lbs. I wore the only dressy items in my closet I could still fit into, and I spent the entire night terrified I was going to rip the seam in the back of my pants any time I moved. I…
  • My favourite salad is pretty basic. Cheap iceberg lettuce mix, cucumbers, tomatoes, ground beef taco meat, cheese, salsa, sour cream. Sometimes I'll add guacamole if there's room in the calorie budget.

  • You have my sympathies on your loss. My old guy passed away a week ago today. I'm lost without the routine of walking him several times a day.
  • Iron supplementation by doctor's orders, Biotin, Vitamin D in the winter.
  • Start small with things you feel you can control. Make manageable goals that you absolutely can achieve with a little dedication and celebrate those successes. Don't let yourself get overwhelmed with too much at once. This is a long-term project of self improvement inside and out, not a sprint to a finish line. You will…
  • When I was a kid, I definitely tried out the dog's kibble. And my little brother ate a whole bag of jerky treats that had a cute doggy on the packaging. Some of the wet food for dogs actually looks really good, and come the zombie apocalypse I know what brands I'll be looting.
  • All of it? I kind of had my eye on D3.
  • I think the woman in green in this image looks absolutely AMAZING! I would really love to have her physique.
  • If you like tart hibiscus fruit teas, David's Tea uses it a lot in their herbal blends.
  • I would recommend planning out a few simple meals before you go and add those to your grocery list to give you a place to start. It will help you find what basics you are missing, too, such as cooking oil, spices, condiments, etc. What will you want to have on hand for breakfast? Same with lunches and snacks.
  • I loved my Aeropress! I got out of the habit of using it when we bought the Keurig (as I'm usually scrambling for time to make my coffee as I'm running out the door). I should drag it out again since it's getting to be iced coffee season. We even bought a burr grinder to use with it. I have a second Aeropress I kept at…
  • I used to drink my coffee super sweet as well. I just slowly started reducing how many sugar packages I used per cup, started brewing my own good coffee at work with an Aeropress instead of drinking the horrible (horrible!) coffee we had at work, and eventually I got myself down to just one packet of Splenda per cup.
  • I use my glass containers almost exclusively. Some of them have been going back and forth in my lunch bag for years, and I haven't broken a single one yet. They're pretty durable if you get good quality ones.
  • Diet ginger ale, vodka, and a splash of lime juice. What I call a Moscow Mule Light.
