Yeah it feels like they say it to everyone to give a compliment and hope they get a message back. The problem is it doesn't sound genuine. (Call me weird but I actually didn't like messages saying I had a great figure when I was at my heaviest, because it sounds like a cheap compliment). It did seem a bit odd that that was…

I'm not Scottish, (English) but you need to try deep fried mars bars. The absolute opposite of healthy haha. Stovies is nice and probably quite nice.

being hyper and not being able to concentrate isn't the same as doing exercise and burning calories.

I don't think using exercise as punishment is a bad thing. They see the act of punishment as punishment, not the exercise. It could be sitting in a corner, reading a book by themselves, doing pressups etc.. I think it's the act of punishment that's effective, isolating the child and making the do SOMETHING, not letting…

I don't mean in terms of calories. I don't normally feel like I need them, I mean drinking water, electrolytes etc. I am the sort of person that exercises and doesn't even take it into consideration that I might need to drink afterwards or eat :S But I'm not at that stage yet anyway.
-
Thanks, that's quite interesting. I didn't know it was so nutrition was so important for running past 1 hour either (probably because I've only just started doing it and I've done hours of other exercise with no issue).

Thanks everyone, I wont worry too much, but I do still need to focus on eating a bit more. I eat plenty at my parents but not really enough in uni.

Yes this is what I have occasionally, though it feels more like a treat :)

That's how I feel about some things. I don't tend to log my juice (cordial/squash) because it has about 5 cals max. I think if I log it, I tend to drink less and I don't think that is a good way to go. I don't want to get obsessed with the tiny values and I want to look at the bigger picture for a better lifestyle change…

Well I measure milk using ml. People do things differently, get over it. There are loads of different entries with cups, metric and imperial measurements. Milk, and other generic USDA values usually list cups, average sizes and 100g. Those values are the most helpful for me because they have the most data.
-
Yes I do just log it but I disagree with this. Sometimes it's just too hard too log logistically. The app is too slow to log everything using my internet and if I'm on holiday I haven't got access to the internet at all. I try logging for instance at a buffet, then a night out and staying over but it is VERY time consuming…

What time do you go to bed???

I found running really increased my stamina for everything. You can cook too, you mum will be grateful and will change what she buys if she knows that she doesn't have to cook it or she has help. Or even more so if it works out cheaper. It can be just as fast to make a casserole - cook the meat and then bung all the veg in…

there are no specific exercises for petite woman! Unless you count gymnastics where petiteness is an advantage, so do that. Cardio and strength, there you are.

That's what I mean! different people use different amount of milk. She uses semi-skimmed, which is about 1.7% fat but might be putting in more milk than the 15cals. My cup of tea works out at about 50 cals! it is pretty milky though.
-
Sorry to nitpick, but on the 5th you had coco pops with skimmed milk, but a cup of tea with semi?
-
Be careful with your tea logging. I was logging my tea with those values (15 cals per mug) but when I weighed the amount of milk I put in it's more like 50 cals (100ml of semi skimmed). When someone else make a cup or it's in a small mug I might log it as 0.8 or 0.75 or a mug. It might not sound a lot, but I was having up…

I agree that it shouldn't be the be all and end all when it comes to making important decisions. If you have to take it into consideration for your health insurance (I don't know) or other things in the US there should be other tests you they consider too. It's still a good guide for the average person though, and people…

I think it is a good indication. I have 0.5 pounds to go until I am in the healthy zone and I think I could still lose a stone. I need to lose 2 stone to be right in the middle of it. However, the range is massive and saying that it doesn't apply for bodybuilders is stupid, they are more likely to know their body fat…

Yes, it's also annoying because people cook things differently. If I cook chicken in watery sauce, it's going to absorb much more water than if I fry it. Also cooking longer and draining more fat will make it weigh less.
-
I think that particular one was butter. Salted says Salt 1.8g per 100g, sweet trace and sweet/salted 1.1g per 100g.
-
Changed my mind, if the bag weighs 99g before popping 3x33g I am going to go with the 420 cals. I've just looked at loads of different values on http://www.mysupermarket.co.uk/grocery-categories/Popcorn_in_Tesco.html and most of them are around 420-440cals for 100g of popped popcorn. It should weigh the same popped as…

That's what I mean, if the serving per packet is already 'about' and rounded, surely the that should be a factor of the servings per box. Otherwise, if there are 6 packets and about 17 servings, this is 2.3 servings per packet and should be about 2. Or 5 packets and around 17 servings makes about 3.4 servings per packet.…

Omg I thought this was just a thread where someone can't read the label but this label is ridiculous! Thank God in the the UK are labels are relatively straightforward - bag of popcorn e.g. 330g - 100g = 67 cals or something. I can see all sides of the arguement. * A serving size is 33g unpopped (2 tbsp) - 180 cals…

Yeah I know what you mean. Although I still eat lots of bread, I don't eat as much, not because it is a carb but simply because it isn't worth the calories. You can get a lot more for your calories with protein and salad.
-
Do you wash your face immediately after exercising? I sometimes get a rash or my face burns from the sweat but I regularly wash my face with just water mid exercising and that helps.

I did lots of calculations into protein and costs per gram for different foods. It worked out that protein powder is 60p a scoop generally and 30g of protein. Compared to 1p for a portion of porridge, 8p for milk, 16p for an egg x 2. 22g of protein for 41p. It is higher calories but it shows that protein powder isn't the…
