  • I'm in the 1200 calorie club. My main strategy is to eat low calorie/ low fat versions of as many things as possible so that I can eat more quantity-wise to stave off the munchies! Have sent you a friend invite
  • I guess it would depend on the brands used. Your best bet is to check the nutritional info on the packet and jars and try to work it out yourself.
  • Aim for the top of the range and then see how you feel. If you are comfortable at the top end, fine. If you feel that you would benefit from heading towards the middle of the range, then let that be your secondary target.
  • It always seems to be the way, that the place you most want to lose from is the last to go (if it ever does at all). I too was hoping to go down a cup size or 2, but although I'm seeing quite a bit of difference on my thighs and waist, the boobs are going nowhere! :grumble:
  • My advice would be to head for the top end of your healthy range, and then see how you feel. If you are happy at that weight and think it 'suits' you stick with it. If you think you could afford to keep going towards the middle of the range, then do that. Good luck on your journey
  • Aah that's scary! My favourite sub is 645 calories with almost 40g of fat  Good thing I only have subway 2 or 3 times a year!
  • My advice would be to not weigh yourself every day, only once a week. I know how tempting it is to keep on checking, but weight can fluctuate by small amounts day to day for all sorts of reasons, and weighing too often can lead to disappointment. If you leave it for a week (or even longer if you can bear it!) you are far…
  • My issue with water is that it makes me feel hungry. If I drink on an empty stomach it makes my stomach gurgle and if I'm moving around too much it actually sloshes! It gives me a hollow, empty feeling and the urge to eat something to soak it up! I can't at all understand those people who say it helps to fill them up and…
  • You're not at all odd  I'm 46 and have a huge range of music on my ipod from Glenn Miller (yes, me too!) to Nickelback and Linkin Park. You know you're REALLY getting old when you start to dismiss any music less than 10 years old LOL.
  • Fabulous! I wish there were enough men like that to go round
  • I weigh once a week, first thing in the morning, in the nude, before eating or drinking and after using the toilet. The Wii Fit body test also weighs me several times a weeks, but as I do it at different times of day, with different clothes, either before or after eating, it fluctuates wildly and I take little account of…
  • Saturday is a tricky day for me too. My husband gets to choose what to have for dinner when we go to the supermarket, and cooks it. It's only fair, as I choose what to have all the rest of the week. Inevitably though, he'll choose something calorie- and fat-laden. Delicious, but just looking at it makes the pounds go on. I…
  • I've only been counting calories for 4 weeks and I'm already tired of my husband's not-so-subtle hints about making a cake or getting a take-away. I think the problem is that if I can't have these things, he doesn't feel that he can go ahead and have them on his own (and I admit that the temptation would be overwhelming if…
  • <---- chocolate addict here, I feel your pain! Luckily (kind of) I overdosed on the stuff over Christmas and can now live without it for a while. But....Valentine's Day is coming up, then Mothers Day, Easter.....there's always a reason for well-meaning family to buy you chocolate :frown:
  • Hi  Another Brit here, from Southampton. I'm also new to MFP, using the iPhone app on my iPod touch and finding it really convenient not to have to use the PC all the time. My aim is to get a grip on my health and fitness before I hit 50. Milestone birthdays tend to focus the mind  Best of luck to everybody,…
  • Stick with it, I found it confusing to start with too, but it gets easier as you go on. Being in the UK I found US measurements such as cups a problem until I figured out how to add foods in grams or ml instead. Logging everything seems to take ages at first as you spend time peering at packets and searching for new foods,…
