You darling, darling sensible person. But, let's get back to the sparring!!

I have a friend who is a voice coach and has been her entire adult life. She is 74 and has a sleek chin and a smooth neck because she does vocal exercises with her students constantly. I am 15 years younger but if you took still shots of just our necks, I look waaay older. I don't know how much one can change it once the…

Congratulations!

Wow! That's fantastic. Do the vegetables stay crisp in the jar?

Hi everyone - great challenge! I stopped drinking in June - it's been three weeks but I haven't lost any weight and I think it's because my sugar cravings are through the roof. I'm not normally big on sweets, but now I'm raiding my kids' stashes. I'm hoping this will pass.

Congrats! No - not small victories at all.

I was cruising by and I just wanted to acknowledge everyone for their thoughtful, respectful and supportive responses. So many of these threads are so mean and mocking. Your posts offer corrections without belittling anyone. Congrats y'all!

All of the above, and perhaps a double layer of spanks. (Did you see Tina Fey on Letterman? She had about 6 layers!)

I traveled a lot. I found it helpful (and this is me - not suggesting it's right for everyone!!!) to have a set of guidelines when I'm away. It almost doesn't matter what they are as long as it helps you negotiate the choices. So mine were, for instance, boiled or poached eggs and fruit for b'fast; lunch was raw veggies…

Incredibly hard work and perseverance. You have accomplished something really hard. Really, really well done. And....what a great attitude. Ignoring the condescension is not easy. Respect!

I hesitate to write anything on these boards because they devolve to lowest common iq level so quickly. I have a friend who uses one and she loves it - therefore it's worth it to her because she tends to workout more regularly and longer. She does arm weight movements, squats... all sorts.

one ounce of cheese cut into tiny tiny cubes and once ounce of nuts, sitting down and eaten slowly.

Funny - I just had to do this with lunch. Search the restaurant name and "nutritional menu" if it's not listed on mfp.

This. I have a friend who ate pork after a long abstinence and was hospitalized. It had to something to do with uric acid that is particularly associated with pork

Just to be clear she was alive at the time the photo was taken.

{/quote}I am the same way. Opening the camera on my phone and it shows your face...apparently I am related to Jabba the Hutt [/quote] Yes! That's why I'm hiding behind a dog that died five years ago.

Aggh! Behind schedule as always. Lots of excuses. Did 20 minutes on Monday - lame, lame, lame. Clear schedule tomorrow early am so I'm committing to 30 tomorrow.

What a kind thing to do! On behalf of lost dogs everywhere - thank you!

Wow! I am always shocked at the level of defensiveness on some MFP boards, especially when a new theory is being floated. The authors don't appear to be presenting their work as cold hard facts. They themselves acknowledge it: "If this hypothesis turns out to be correct...." They do not seem to be saying, "Stop calorie…

Marching in place while you're on the phone counts! Stepping while you brush your teeth counts! Chasing a possum out of your house with a broom counts!

Me too! I used to love to walk every day - up to an hour. But life got tricky and now it's 104 degrees outside and I lost my pedometer and and and! I'm picking up a new one (I like the feed back) and will start back in today. 30 minutes is pretty easy if you break it down into chunks.

What a genuine and lovely post. Thank you for walking your own path and sharing it. Good wishes to you and God bless.

Yes!! There should be a "Starting over" group - I joined in 09 - lost all the weight I needed (but some pounds shy of what I really wanted) and then I got distracted. People died. Pets died. I stopped drinking wine and started craving sugar. One day I realized I was eating frosting out of a can. (FROSTING OUT OF A CAN??…

Thank you for starting this group! I was surprised to see that most of the veg groups were not active. I have been primarily a vegetarian for most of my life - but I have eaten dairy and fish regularly. The practices of both these industries are as unethical to me as the meat industry and yet I have had a very hard time…

Best advice ever!

Just caught up on all the posts - RJ, that's a beautiful picture of your daughter. I loved all the super bowl reports - sounds like everyone did okay. I can honestly report I didn't drink anymore than usual during the game. :blushing:

Yea, Phyljen's back! I have been really not good - no gain no loss, but no exercise and only logging in in the morning. Which means everything after the oatmeal is unaccounted for. And what doesn't go on the log stays on the hips. Here is my confession. I have been anxious and depressed about a bunch of family matters and…

Very lushy day yesterday. Two prosecco splits, one and a half margaritas, one glass of red wine and then useless for the rest of the evening. I'm just not happy about it. I had my bone density test yesterday morning and I am in the orange zone (green = normal, red = osteoporosis). My mother is 84 and totally hunched over…

A follow up - The Eyptian government turned the internet back on and I got a message from Phyljen yesterday. She and her family are safe, and she thanks everyone for their good thoughts and prayers. I'd be happy to forward the message to anyone who knows her., just leave me a message. I can't tell you how relieved I am. My…
