  • Good morning all, Bethinagain, I read your post and had the thought that maybe we need to stop seeing these events as 'cheats.' You said you can trust yourself not to poison yourself with the junk - that's quite a profound statement - to have committed to your own health and know you'll keep that commitment. But our lives…
  • Oops. I did the first day and then somehow stopped. So I'm going to start again tomorrow morning and do Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday. Just fessing up and moving on! Good for everyone who got out there, and Nadine it's nice to see you here too!
  • Jaques, you and me both! I have great lower body strength but couldn't do a pull-up to save my life. Soooo.... today I had a fabulous time and would like to crow, so please indulge me.. As some of you know, my 2 kids are quite whacky with numerous developmental disabilities, and last week I took them to Disneyland but had…
  • Hey all! Welcome Nadine and welcome back Smiles, Smiles, I don't know if you've ever tried this - or would ever want to - but at my house we swear by the lemon juice, cayenne pepper, maple syrup and hot water tonic to knock out cold, cough, flu type stuff. We drink it a bunch of times during the day and by the next day we…
  • Hey, Larry! I guess our thread has dwindled away! have you thought of joining one of the running threads. You write such detailed posts and I really love reading them. I just think you could get more support and be inspiring to more people on a more popular thread. If you do join one, let me know which one. Happy Friday
  • Official weigh in: 129. Half a pound down, which is okay by me. Way to go Terri, Phyllis, Meagan and RJ! As I said, I was totally slothful this week and never even made it to day 2 of Couch25K. I'll pick it up next week. It was the last week of spring break, so I had to spend yesterday at Magic Mountain (amusement park)…
  • Okay, so my foray into vegan-land didn't work out so good. Four days and I missed my PG tips, milk and sugar. So I decided I'll try the same approach I used when I started MFP, just observing and recording what dairy and fish I consume without making any deliberate changes. Getting conscious seems to help me slowly make…
  • Terri, you're awesome. You turn a job that could easily be considered a liability into an opportunity (sorry to sound new-agey)
  • Okay. But those rest days are there for a reason, don't push it and injure yourself. (I think I was channeling your mother there- but someone needs to say it!)
  • Siobahn, welcome back, and I am just want to say I'm so sorry about your cat. Your team is doing great in your challenge - 6th out of 50 is awesome. In case the flu diet doesn't work, there's always the food poisoning diet - you have to find the right restaurant, but it works every time. And the other one I just found out…
  • Thank you Terri! I have to eat late a lot because of my class schedule. One thing this doesn't address is if I eat certain foods late at night, I don't sleep as well - which affects my exercise the next day. So, in an indirect way it can make a difference.
  • That sounds good. I think I'll walk on the off days. Thanks
  • Hi, I just did W1 D1 today. There's another Couch25K thread, but I'd love to join this one too. You guys are smoking!! (in the nicest tobacco-free kind of way) Are there any tips about breathing - I was trying to breathe in through my nose and out through my mouth but it was tough to control. Thanks, and congrats all.
  • Larry do you have to rest every other day with your program. Couch25K makes you take a day off in between. It's probably a good idea for me, but I wondered if this was standard.
  • I just did my first one today too. The reason is that when I look at athletic bodies, runners have the best - vain, but true. I'm using the I-phone app by Felt tip. The siren is really annoying, though. As far as free apps, everyone mentions Robert Ullrey (spelling?) I also got fitted for good running shoes per my buddy…
  • 483 burned - Couch to 5K and Hatha Yoga. 3017 to go. I may sneak in some gardening to get it up past 500. Yikes you're setting quite a pace Terri. I'm not sure I'll keep up, but it's great inspiration and motivation to be eating your dust! So that was my first day. It was tough. But good. But tough. Did I mention tough? It…
  • Okay! I got the podcast, but I don't have any music to play behind it, so I'll steal my husband's play list - it's gotta be better than either of my teen's music (one is goth and listens to Ozzie Ozborn, the other is autistic and listens to the same instrumental over and over - not a great choice!) So I'll have to put up…
  • Welcome all newcomers to this thread, and welcome back Kelsey, I'm so glad your boy's doing better. A few updates - I've decided not to do the vegan thing. I just don't trust myself to get enough calcium, so I'm sticking with my yogurt. I'm still off of the 3 cups of tea in the morning and have substituted green tea…
  • Use the search button - there are a few veg and vegan threads you can check on. Veggie-heads don't seem to be rabid posters so the threads tend to fade away. But you're new and have energy - go for it.
  • Bump Thanks all for the suggestions

  • I'm in on the 3500 challenge. i just got fabulous new running shoes and was going to start today but then I got some kind of achy, buggy thing. Yesterday a friend and I were boasting how we never get sick. We were mocking everyone who got the flu vaccine and were still constantly sniffly. Shouldn't have done it. It was…
  • Okay! I got my shoes. And then I got sick:grumble: Some annoying bug. I should have it beat by Monday so I'm going to start then. The shoe store people were wonderful, they are all runners. They had me walking back and forth and trying the shoes outside, and if they don't feel okay, I can take them back. That's wonderful…
  • Smiles, glad you're on the mend. Larry, I forgot to say Congrats!!! on your 3 pound loss. I went on the Runner's World site last night - it's really informative. I'm going to see about getting shoes today.
  • If they don't make this right I smell a really tasty law suit. dang girl, you could have been toast! Sorry about your face, but I'm glad it wasn't worse.
  • Thanks for the info Larry. Should I go to an actual runner's shoe store or is Foot Locker okay. Actually as I wrote that I realized, no, Foot Locker is probably not okay. Also, where do I get hold of the Runner's World program? I think I really want to do this. I
  • Hysterical, Jaque!!! That is so amazing about your family owning some of the original land. I don't mean to be nasty about D'land - it's just the over-stimulation and the over-price everything that gets me going, and believe me, I'd send you if I could. Phyljen - great new photo! The incredible shrinking woman! I think…
  • Official Friday weigh in: 130. Kim I detest Disneyland with every fibre of my being! Just finishing up my last cup of real tea with real milk and real processed and bleached to perfection sugar.
  • Wow. I know it's frustrating to those who've been around a while to read blanket statements like the original post, but let's not beat up the new kid. I think she was really excited because she thought she had something to share. She was wrong. Really, really wrong. It was very kind of those who posted links to helpful…
  • I just checked it out - it looks great, and you can do it for free. I almost bought some workout DVD's the other day but I never know if I'll end up liking them or even doing them. I didn't know about this site, so thanks for sharing it.
