MADCOW is a "natural " progression from SL 5x5.

How many days a week do you want to be in the gym? If only 3, full body.

Guessing ~15-17%

^Alan Argon had disputed the supplemental benefits for years as does recent research.

@JB035 I know what they are but if you get adequate protein, supplementing more might not be necessary. http://alpharaj.com/bcaas-really-need/

Why?

Milk and meatballs @SideSteel

^3 days full body has the advantage for strength and hypertrophy.

I had rotator cuff and labrum repair surgery. Took about a year of dedicated rehab but I'm back to low bar squatting.

^thanks for the update. Nice work.

More volume. Can you do legs 3x week?

^but maybe eating a little something before lifting?

I went from squatting barefoot at home and Chucks in gyms. I got Wei-Rui Warriors (also from MaxBarbell) and was shocked at the difference. Depth is much easier and I felt stronger. Unfortunately I got injured before testing them on the platform. If you are considering competing, I would get squat shoes, if not...depends…

I realize you asked about deadlifts but Bret Contreras has a good article about squat differences do to individual anatomy. https://bretcontreras.com/how-femur-length-effects-squat-mechanics/

How's Sara? She competing this year?
-
I would guess you are more suited for sumo.

Greg Nuckols can: http://www.strongerbyscience.com/should-you-deadlift-conventional-or-sumo/ Greg has great links in that article to more info by Dean Somerset too.

I slowly pieced together a home gym of mostly used equipment. Used DIY power rack and weights was first. I bought new horse barn stall mats (available at Farmer/tractor supply stores) and plywood for flooring.

Get your form checked. If you don't know someone to watch in person, video and post in the Eat, Train, Progress group.

Rest. If still painful/uncomfortable after a week, maybe physical therapy or more rest. I would not be rushing to get an MRI and an Xray is likely useless.
