Hi there! I am totally in it for the long haul and need all the support and encouragement I can get. I'm a good cheerleader myself, too! :) Amy

Hi and welcome! I tried WW so many times when I was younger, and really grew to loathe it. I totally LOVE MFP and it's worked really well to help me get on track and work on having a healthy relationship with food and eating. I would love to be friends!

Personally, I love planks. I try to do one every day... but haven't. I should prioritize that, it doesn't take long! I can usually do between 40 and 60 seconds pre-workout, after a workout (sometimes my trainer has me do them at the end of one) usually not much more than 30. They are easy to squeeze in just about anywhere,…

I'm sorry that some people think it is BS. It's obviously happening to many people, including me – it's totally my body's MO, for whatever reason. I don't really even care too much about why it happens, rather I am glad that it does happen and that I know what to expect. It's much easier to deal with a perceived plateau if…

I don't have a wifi scale, but I am with rsclause. I like to weigh every day because I am a geek for data – but I try to view it as strictly that. I do my best not to cast judgement on myself based on the numbers, but use the knowledge as a tool. I also like seeing the trends that happen. I know, it is really hard not to…

I can speak to the dual issues here. When I first met my boyfriend in person – after knowing each other online for 2+ years and talking on the phone – I weighed more than he did, probably by 50 pounds or so. Now the reverse is true, 15 years later! We got along great in person and everything worked out... obviously. There…

Yes, that is pretty much how my weight loss has been going. When I read about the whoooosh I was pretty excited. I've been in the middle of a BIG holding pattern this month and expecting a whoosh in the next week or two. We shall see. This is also why I weigh and record every day, so that I can see the pattern better. I…

Yeah, I've lost almost 50 but sometimes don't feel like there is much of a difference. People won't always tell you, because they're not sure if they should. ;) People who see you every day might not notice as much as someone who hasn't seen you since you started losing. And every body is different – it will come off in…

Marca, that happened to me once, too. If you email MFP and tell them what happened, they can restore your streak. :)

I don't believe in the concept of cheating... it sort of drives me crazy, actually. ;) It's going to take me longer to lose the weight, I know, but I incorporate just about any food into my daily diet. Almost every day you'll see bits of chocolate or a small serving of ice cream, or pizza for dinner in my diary. I try my…

Based on what you've told us, I definitely think a chat with your doc is in order. You seem to be doing everything you can already!

DON'T do that to yourself! Lose the 40 pounds, yes, but don't rush it. If you lose slowly, you're way more likely to keep it off, which is what you want. The last thing you want is to enter a yo-yo cycle, which is what happened to me and I'm trying to break it. Deciding to lose 1-2 pounds a week is totally doable and…

Congrats on your continued success! One of my bucket list items is to run a marathon. I've done Ck5K a few times in the past and loved it, and just started it again yesterday – I was thrilled to see how much my numbers have improved since my first time, probably because of a fairly regular fitness regimen since May. I was…

Congrats! I, too, am anxious to get to that milestone – just over 20 pounds left for me to get there. :) Thanks for the inspiration, keep up the good work!

Hello, I have been averaging 10 pounds a month, so just over 2 pounds a week. I started at 372 pounds in mid-May, now down to 326 and feeling AWESOME. I started out with inconsistent exercise, easing into it. I have a gym membership and work with a trainer once a week, and try to get at least two or three 30+ minute walks…

Fantastic. Your philosophy and methods are pretty aligned to my approach, too. I am NOT on a diet! I am figuring out the best way to life healthfully for a lifetime. LOVED reading this, and hearing about your maintenance. So happy for you, and hope to be making posts like that myself one day. I blog over at…

You and I are on what sounds like the exact same wavelength. Even similar weights! I started at 372 in May and I'm down to 329 now. It does feel good, doesn't it??? At age 44 I just need to do this once and for all and so I have been working on finding the most sustainable way to do this – a lifelong way of eating and…

My goodness, what a wonderful story! Conrgats on all counts – you look fantastic. Thanks for sharing.

I am 44 and restarting efforts to lose big. I didn't lose a whole lot at the beginning this time around, which is unusual for me. And I was eating right, and getting more exercise than I have in a long time, with a trainer, too! Finally after just over a month the pounds are moving. I aim to do this for my whole life, so I…

Please, please, please listen to what the others have already said. YOU NEED MORE CALORIES. If nothing else, use the calculator that MFP has built-in, and go by that. And listen, slow and steady wins the race, and your overall health is way more important than the numbers on the scale. If you lead a healthy lifestyle in…

Very inspiring. You look great, and I am sure you feel great, too. Thanks so much for sharing. Amy

I have a long ways to go and I have been here many times before, but I am trying to adjust my way of thinking this round and I really think it's the ticket for me. Maybe it will be something for you to consider. While I am definitely watching the scale as I go, what I am trying to do is focus on my health overall, and…

It's all about ditching an old habit and replacing it with a new one. Both my partner and I were Diet Pepsi addicts, but got sick of spending the money and dealing with empties. I also wanted to stop drinking something that had no nutritional value and could be hurtful – I hate the idea of artificial sweetener now and…

Well, I guess everyone's different, but I'd be hard pressed to take that approach. I started at 372 and now at 359 I'm at just below 2000 calories, which is my aim, but sometimes I go a little over. It's taken me about six weeks to lose 10 pounds, but I am OK with that because I am looking for the changes I am making to my…

Great job on the hard work! You're an inspiration – I want to lose at least that much, probably more. :)

My gosh, I sure hope so! Let's ask my trainer at the gym, who is 48 and totally ripped and enters bodybuilding competitions. :)

I don't think that you're eating enough food that is good for you! It's almost all junk, from what I can see in your sparse logging. You've received lots of good advice already, but I'd like to add that maybe you should reframe what you're trying to do for yourself and your body and take a more holistic approach? Rather…

AtmaKing, you're absolutely right. All these years I've never really thought about it in those terms. That is helpful. OP, I can totally relate. Here I am again at age 44 trying to do this once and for all. If you can conquer it while you're young, all the better. Over the years I kept losing and regaining, relosing and…

Hi there OP, You already have lots of good replies and lots to consider. A few years back I started the C25K program and I weighed about 330 at the time. When I was running, it was really, really slow – some watching me might not have even thought I was running, but I definitely was. ;) I think it is a great program and if…
