I'm 5' 8", 300 pounds. I run, walk, hike, and play tennis mostly. I also work with a trainer at a gym for strength!

At 46, I am happy to embrace the changes I'm experiencing as I age. Today I was quite happy with my looks, despite brown spots and wrinkles and probably drooping neck. I've lost almost a 100 pounds in the past two years and would definitely choose that over whatever else. Like someone else said, it is what it is. I have…

You are lovely at any size, but I am so happy that you got your health issues under control. You're radiant! I'm so impressed with your story and love all the photos. Your meals look fantastic, too. :) Off to send a friend request!

Thank you for posting. I hope you are doing OK tonight! I have had similar fears lately for myself and my partner and not sure what I will do about it. Would love to be your friend and offer support! :)

If it's a friend, why not just ask in advance what is being served so that you can plan ahead? You can even explain why you're asking, and I am sure a true friend would want to be helpful and understanding. I would definitely NOT bring the scale with you. Good gravy.

I really like the line of workout clothes that Danskin has available at Walmart (I hate shopping there, but sometimes I make an exception.) Different types of pants – I like the bootcut yoga pants a lot for running, though the best is the leggings made with dri-fit or dri-weave fabric. Wicks away moisture, which becomes…

Lovely post! Walking is wonderful exercise and should never be considering less than anything else. :) Love the photos! Keep up the good work, everyone! Just a note on this! If you would really like to run, start out gradually using a program like Couch to 5K, or even just short intervals of your own making – try, say, 30…

Because 6.2 = 10K! It's an even number. ;)

I have the same two-pronged problem: binge and secret eating. It can be awful, but after a lifetime I am learning how to deal with it at age 45. Just a couple suggestions and tricks: • Brush your teeth and use mouthwash after finishing with dinner • Self-talk and a waiting period. If you want to binge or secret eat, ask…

GREAT job! Love seeing this kind of achievement! :)

Fellow PCOSer here. You have done really well and look great!

Hey, that is great! Miles is miles, speed not important. I've been running since February and have been making slow but steady progress, and still at 15 minute miles... I don't let it get me down. Until my runner's knee developed I was up to over 5 miles at a time! :) Keep up the great work!

Thanks so much! You'll get there, too. I'm excited for the next 100 – will see an even bigger difference. I have to be patient. :)

I still have another 100 or so to go, but I am over 100 pounds down so far! Started at 372 at 5' 8", now down to 264-269 in the past week. (Thanksgiving set me back a bit, but I am on track again!) You can read my blog at notafraidofstripes.blogspot.com/

This is more or less what I have been doing. I decreased my caloric intake Sunday through today, and while I will be logging tomorrow, it won't be anything super accurate - just a general inventory. I've also been keeping up with my exercise and plan to do a personal Turkey Trot (i.e. run/walk 5K or so) in the aftermath.…

I'm sorry that you're having a hard time. I have cried while finishing a run, but it was because of pure joy and excitement for having achieved something I didn't think I could... and not too long ago I briefly cried at the gym when one of my idols (a lady who KILLS it doing strength training) commented positively on a set…

All week, including Thursday! :)

I am ALL SET for this upcoming holiday. I plan to fully enjoy the day's meal, and in order to still achieve my goal to still lose weight this week, I am eating less today through Wednesday with all food planned out and logged for the whole week. Exercise plans are in place as well. I feel very in control and ready to get…

I had a plateau that lasted 3 months. However during that time I maintained my 100 pound weight loss, so I started to view it as practice for maintenance. I ended up meeting with w dietitian, who reminded me of some basics (eating balanced meals, basically) and also suggested that I stop eating my exercise calories – that…

I had been eating some (and sometimes all) of them back until a few weeks ago, after I had hit a long plateau (three months!) and met with a dietitian, who looked at all my stats including activity level, and said that I should eat just slightly less than what I had been and stop eating any exercise cals, among other…

Yep. I have gained six pounds since Monday for no good reason, three pounds at a time. It happens. Just keep doing what you're doing. I plan to! I am certainly frustrated, but I know that this kind of thing happens, so... *shrug* :)

I love this. Words to live by.

Since dealing with runner's knee resulting from weak glutes and core, I highly recommend doing strength training while working on your running. The stronger you are, the less likely you'll have to deal with injury down the road. I like doing both!

I completed C25K a few times over the years being over 300 pounds at 5' 8". It is a good idea to take it slow and not push yourself to go too fast or progress too quickly – but that is good advice for any new runner. Regarding knee issues, they usually result in having weak glutes or from back issues. They trickle down. So…

What is making all the difference for me this time after a lifetime of yo-yoing is the motivation – it is not just about the size I am or what I look like. Now that I am in middle age, I realize that I do not want to be limited by my body as I get older. I want to live as active and vibrantly as possible for as long as…

I'm still trying to work this out for myself. Generally I prefer to eat more earlier in the day, but I have to be careful not to deprive myself of enough calories for dinner... it's always a bummer when I don't. But yeah, I don't like to eat a big dinner on a weeknight. I try to keep it fairly balanced throughout the day.…

Love it, you look and sound fantastic. :) You got phase 2, no problem!

I am updating again because I haven't lost any more weight. On the plus side: • I have more or less maintained for almost three months • I reached out for help this past weekend when I had a crisis of faith in myself that I wouldn't be able to finish what I started. A post on Facebook asking for help yielded so many…

I love how stylish you've become! :) Great job.

I'm 45 now and have lost about 100 pounds since May 2014. I still have another 100+ to go, but I'm not in a hurry, I just know that I will get there. You can read more about my story here: http://www.fudiet.com/2015/08/how-do-you-lose-100-pounds/ Feel free to ask me anything.
