  • no flagging from my side, people are entitled to an opinion...although it seems to be a lot of "bro-science" in many replies...
  • I have no intention to give ideas, it is clearly stated as an n=1 experiment, and I assume that most of people here are above 18 and are smart enough to understand this my basic stand on minimum calorie intake is that a person shall not normally eat below his/her BMR - should I make an official disclaimer?
  • Ikr :) and as I said I'm going to US and I really love American food, so the binge will happen anyway - yes I'm a weak carboholic again it's just an experiment for 2 weeks to see what happens and to see where my limits goes thanks for the concerns but most of you have to lighten up a little I will not shrivel up and die...
  • what do you based all that on? What nutrition do I miss out on? How can you tell? "reinforcing bad approaches to weight loss" - what does that even mean? So far I have been able to carry out my daily routines, feeling quite ok, this evening I will do some weight lifting to see if I'm any weaker than last week ;) Personally…
  • First I'm not too worried about missing out on nutrition, I still eat a lot of vegetables+seeds and of course the supplements mentioned above Second, it is for 2 weeks only which is really a short time...of course I'm listening to my body and I will keep it easy in terms of exercising
  • I did the following before, I still had 1340kcal (sedentary) but if I e.g. was exercising lets 1000 kcal/day, I added those 1000 kcal to my daily allowance => 2340 kcal I wouldn't say that 1200 kcal is fasting
  • another person who doesn't know how to read (really people), I wrote that gluten-based food contains toxins (lectins) which are not good for you...jesus... Can you please tell me where 1500 kcals comes from/is based on?
  • because it is not always very easy to precisely estimate the input and especially not the output, and in the end it's all about "trial and error" and "mini-steps" and see what works best for you...
  • but what's interesting is that MFP proposed about 1340 kcal (desk job - sedentary) for me if I wanted to lose 2 lbs / week...
  • Yes I know right :D - but it's an experiment, and I really want to say that I lost 44 lbs in 6 months + I'm going to US in July for 4 weeks, so...
  • both are useless and shouldn't be used
  • it's not my information, I clearly wrote down the reference, maybe you need to study a little bit more before making absurd accusation based on selective reading...if you want to keep eating lectins it's up to you, but again, there is nothing in e.g. bread that you need that you cannot get from a healthier source...if you…
  • please learn how to read, I wrote gluten-based food contains toxins, e.g. lectins (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lectin) "Toxicity Digestion and immune distress Foods with high concentrations of lectins, such as beans, cereal grains, seeds, nuts, and potatoes, may be harmful if consumed in excess in uncooked or…
  • in the end n=1 is what is valid for you, just trial and error your way :)
  • since when is FDA a reliable source ;-) I wrote that they have toxins, the amount will tell if it is toxic or not, like cigarettes :-) anyway there is no reason to eat food with gluten, no reason at all, since there are a lot better choices
  • I'm still in ketosis consuming around 100g total carbs (not net carbs)
  • 15 lbs of fat or 15 lbs weight? 15 lbs fat = 7 kg => 1 kg fat = 7000 kcal => 7 kg fat = 49'000 kcal in 3 weeks => 21 days => 2300 kcal deficit per day...so lets say you eat 1300 kcal/day => TDEE 3600 kcal, that's a lot of additional exercise which is probably not a good idea on a low calorie diet...
  • just to make it clear since many people think "low carb = zero carb", myself I can have 100g/day and still be in ketosis, and with 100g carbs per day you can have all the vegetables incl. fibers you need... cutting out certain food groups is really important, especially gluten-based food because they don't offer anything…
  • I do 16:8 + low carb (<50g), it's great and I hate breakfast, i.e. win-win!
  • sad that it didn't worked for you :'( ...it's really a brilliant diet, especially for me since I'm a "carboholic"
  • ^ x1000 - me too, since I started to supplement with Nuun + additional potassium, magnesium glyc. and sea salt I feel much better on keto
  • If you are doing the keto diet for the first time it will take longer than 2 weeks to get fat adapted, you don't need to refeed that soon...
  • Well I assume you had some carbs (>100g/day) on your vacation, i.e. it will take a week or 2 for your body to get keto and fat-adapted again, once that happens you will feel great again! :) Myself I feel I have "superpowers" but this only occurs after you are keto and fat-adapted...
  • With low carb you will never be hungry which helps a lot when you are on a calorie deficit :) Also you will have countless energy (all your bodyfat) to your disposal - 10kg bodyfat=90'000 kcal vs 2'000 kcal carbs in your muscles and liver... Your insulin response will be better which means fat secretion from the cells will…
  • "Abs are done in the kitchen..." most of the schedules presented will lead to system overtraining... I recommend taking a day off between each INTENSIVE workout, be it HIIT or weights... also do not workout longer than 30 minutes, if you can you are not doing it intense enough...
  • The main advantage doing a keto diet is NOT being in ketosis, the main advantage is that your hunger goes down to practically zero, I have absolutely no hunger doing a keto diet, my calorie intake is around 1500 kcal (a factor 2-3 compared on being on a carb-based diet), THAT is the main thing about the keto diet, if you…
  • These notes are my personally experience. 1. If I have a cheat day on e.g. Saturday, I am back in Ketosis on Tuesday, i.e. much less than a week and without exercising. 2. Cheating days are very valuable, both psychologically and physically Psychologically aspects, if you are on a diet somebody told you that you can't have…
  • Please dont believe everything you read ;-) You know that people with epilepsy are on this diet with great improvement There are essential fat acids and amino acids (i.e. Body cant make itself), but there are no essential carbs because our body can make substitute ie ketones That the brain needs carbs to work is just pure…
  • I have been doing keto for several years and the symptoms that you are describing are quite normal and will pass in less than a week. It's similar symptoms as you try to get off some drugs but will as said pass quicker. Once you have done the metabolic shift you will feel great... Benny - sober carboholic
