Yeah, sounds like sodium to me. Deli meat is LOADED in salt. Wait a few days and it will go away. I've found it helpful to balance higher sodium days with more potassium - its supposed to help your body flush out the salt.

I bought a heart rate monitor and was pretty shocked at how far off the estimates of the equipment, MFP and the heart rate monitor were. The elliptical I was using was overestimating burn by up to 65%. I highly recommend investing in one if you are serious about wanting to know a more precise measurement on your activity…

That's fantastic, congratulations!!!

It took me about 6 - 7 months, but it will vary for people based on so many factors. I ate super clean & worked out hard.

I hurt my hip about 6 weeks ago & found that I could still ride my bike. (It was more in the joint tho rather than muscle...) Good luck! Just remember, even if you have to take a week off, it may be better to take care of yourself by letting yourself heal than injuring yourself further.

Oh, got it! I wasn't paying it any attention / giving it any weight. Thanks for the info!

me too! I've got about 22 pounds to go and the rate I'm losing at has slowwwwwwed down.

Watch the documentary Hungry for Change (it's on Netflix), it talks a lot about various ways of improving health and things you can eat to clean the liver among other organs.

I found that when I did 30 Day Shred (plus extra cardio) I basically saw my love handles, booty & legs shrink pretty quickly.

I have the FitBit Zip and it is awesome!!!! It doesn't track sleep, but I don't really need to monitor that. It's the most affordable one and it works really well w/MFP. It's helped me easily see how active I am during the day and has encouraged me to move more to hit the steps goals I set. It's super convenient since you…

The first few times I did 30DS level one I thought it wasn't as hard as I was expecting.... until I upped the weights. I went from 2 lb weights to 4 lb weights and it made all the difference! I've tried to pay attention to the weights as I've continued through the other videos. If my muscles aren't spent after the strength…

this is really helpful!

I'm similar to you in stats - 5'8", started at 252, now at 198 after 5 months. Just start slow and build consistency. It sounds silly, but even little things help. I started by going for 20 minute walks, slowly adding time... once I got bored with that I tried an elliptical, I figured out boredom during working out meant I…

I can't speak to your experience, or settings, or what-have-you.... but for me personally I have had great success with my FitBit Zip. I use it in tandem with MFP and have been able to really monitor how active I am and adjust my daily nutrition goals accordingly. I know a coworker of mine (we have them thru a work…

I totally feel ya! Weight training can be intimidating. I have found a lot of success with the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred videos. I got mine for $7 at Target. I highly highly recommend it. I started off with 3.5 pound hand weights and am now up to 8 pound weights. I like her workouts because they are short (apprx 24…

I started off similarly and then kind of leveled off at about 10 pounds a month. I have to be diligent to really follow my nutritional goals and I have to constantly find new ways to push myself when working out. It's tough, but worth it. I think how quickly you lose is up to you, but be sure and keep some balance and…

Another way to approach the situation is to look at what may be keeping you up or waking you up at night. I found that I was eating my dinner too late, and that was making it harder for me to fall asleep. I also figured out that when I woke up in the middle of the night the lights from various electronics (clock, radio,…

I have a Fitbit Zip and it is so amazing! I think it's like $60 on amazon. I really recommend it!!!! It keeps you moving and really gives you insight into your activity level. Plus the fitbit apps sync with MFP pretty seamlessly.

Me too! I started at 252 & am at 211 now. Tell that person to buzz off, you're the one in charge of your own success!

I totally can hang on to water and then loose 3 lbs of water in a day - it's bonkers. A few things I do to try and speed up the process are drinking lemon water, just drinking extra water in general, eating lots of fiber, cutting out meat and eating tons of fiber. I think they help to varying degrees, I mean ultimately the…

It took me about 2 months, good luck with your goal!!

I eat a salad every day for lunch: organic baby lettuces, slivered almonds, about a dozen craisens, fat free feta, an apple, and Newman's Light Balsamic Vinagrette. I love it! I wish the dressing were lighter in sodium, but you can get a pretty filling salad for about 250 - 300 calories. On weekends I make my own dressing…

I have the FitBit Zip and I LOVE it!!! I can't say enough about it, it is so worth the investment ($60 I think...).

I noticed after hard workouts I would feel extra "poofy" for a few days and would retain water - making the scale move up or stay the same for up to a week or 2. This article really helped me get some mental clarity on one possibility as to why we hold onto water:…

I would think drinking wine from time to time wouldn't be a big deal, as long as you account for it in your log. I personally have stopped drinking alcohol (unless a "special" occasion) as I found my body would really react to it. I found the next day my weight would drop by about .5#, but then go up about 1-2#s for a few…

Congrats!!! I love that quote “Those who live in the past limit their future.”!

One of my favorite quotes is "To be successful you must accept all challenges that come your way. You can't just accept the ones you like." by Mike Gafka Good luck with your poster!!!

Congrats on getting started!!! Keep up the positive attitude and you will do so great at this!!! I've found, for me, I try to focus primarily on today, think a little about tomorrow, and not let yesterday affect what I do today. It sounds hokey, but its been a little mantra of mine. Keep it up!!!!!! You're doing great!
