  • For me, eliminating most of the processed sugar from my diet got rid of cravings. I didn't need some expensive BS shake product. And honestly, how can buying into that program teach you healthy sustainable eating in the long run? What happens when you can't afford it one month? Please forgive my cynicism, I have a Facebook…
  • Anyone who poses with a surfboard is friendly!
  • I don't schedule cheat days because real life provides enough opportunities to indulge. Birthdays, celebrations, days when I get home too late from work and grab whatever is easiest, etc. I have to make sure that I eat healthy the rest of the time to accommodate for the expected and unexpected deviations. I do enjoy the…
  • My favorites, in random order, are string cheese, coconut oil, buffalo wings, hard boiled eggs, unsweetened vanilla almond milk, butter, hummus, parmesan crackers (made of parmesan cheese so there are no carbs), almond butter, bacon, avocado, cheeseburgers in lettuce wraps, dill pickles. I could go on and on.
  • How long have you been at it? It takes a while to lose weight. You have to be diligent and consistent over months. Expecting big results right away will lead to disappointment. That said, it will come off eventually so keep at it and you'll see changes soon!!
  • Oh and one last thing. I think it's okay to lie about one's weight. I thought that was just called being female?!?!  just kidding (sort of not really) lolz
  • I'm not actively lying about my weight or supporting lying to one's spouse in general. Hence my clarification regarding my husband's statement that he doesn't care or need to know my weight and me keeping it vague. Honestly, I think one's weight is very personal. If you want to share it with your spouse, or not share it…
  • I lie about my weight to my husband too. Or well, I just don't tell him exact numbers. To be clear, he has specifically told me he doesn't need to know what I weigh. Why is it so important that he knows what you weigh? Why not keep it vague and then when you lose the amount you want, you can tell him for real? On the other…
  • Bread, vegetarian pizza, pasta and anything that is generally high in carbs without any protein to balance it out. Leaves me feeling full for about twenty minutes then I crash.
  • It's so overwhelming when you look at it that way but hang in there and keep up the great work! It will come off eventually!
  • This is probably how I found my way to eating lower carb. I was frustrated with my lack of progress and was cranky eating only 1200 calories a day, so I gave low carb a try beginning on March 1st. Mfp set my calories to 1200 as well but I switched it so that I can eat 1600 calories a day but of that, 65% is fat, 20% is…
  • Happy birthday!!! And congrats on reaching your first goal! You should be very proud of yourself
  • I eat low carb and love it. Feel free to add me!
  • I feel like that until I try something on that used to be tight and now it fits, or when I see old pictures of myself versus more recent pictures. It's then that I see how far I've come. Progress is made when you put in consistent effort.
  • My goal weight is somewhere between 135 and 145. I think I might be too thin though if I get down to 135.
  • Maybe you can lose two pounds a week but I'm not sure you could sustain that kind of deficit consistently? But also, it's not automatically guaranteed that you will lose two pounds a week every week if you eat a certain amount. Some weeks you lose, other weeks the scale is stubborn and won't move despite your best efforts.…
  • I've been losing about 2 pounds a month on average. It feels slow but it keeps going in the right direction so I figure that's better than nothing. It feels more sustainable losing at a slower pace, at least for me.
  • Thanks, I think I tend to ignore my body and push through it out of guilt. I'll take the night off and try to work out tomorrow morning instead.
  • Do something different! Try riding a bike, going for a run, swimming, join a kickball league, try yoga. It sounds like you're just burnt out on the gym. Do something to stay active but try something totally different for a few weeks and see if that inspires you. As for food, try to reel it in before it gets out of control…
  • I'm noticing that a lot of you who have logged a significant number of days in a row have also lost a significant amount of weight, or so it appears on your tickers. It also looks like it's helped a few of you maintain the loss too. Good to know! Edited for spelling.
  • 73 days, which I previously thought was a little obsessive until I found this post! But the best progress I've had is since I started logging every single day.
  • Completely disagree too. Let the holidays be filled with love, laughter, and yes food. The rest of the year can be the days we are active and mindful of our consumption. The best thing she can do is change the connection of dessert as a daily thing and reserve it for those special occasions.
  • I can't relate to the specific things you mentioned. However, I just wanted to let you know I admire your courage and effort to start the journey toward a healthier you. It's never too late to break old habits and form new ones. Keep going, even when you want to give up. You are not alone on mfp. :flowerforyou:
  • Philly girl here too! The food in this city and my lack of control around it caused me to gain quite a bit, haha. But it's pretty inspiring to see how many people are riding their bikes around town. Anyway, it sounds like you've identified your weakness and are on the right path. That's probably half the battle won right…
  • Well you are breastfeeding so I don't want to tell you to cut back on the calories overall without knowing more about how much you're supposed to consume in order to feed your baby. Congrats btw! I've seen a lot of posts from low carbers that say although it's good to stay low carb and in ketosis, ultimately it's about…
  • Every Friday this one person brings in a box of donuts. Sigh. I usually avoid. Today my boss brought some in too. There is also the ever present candy jar and pretzel tin. I am pretty good at resisting but I hate the temptation!
  • Fashion, baby. But seriously my clothes were too tight and I was heavier than I'd ever been. I wanted to get back to a weight where I felt more comfortable with myself and to be healthier in general. I'm feeling good these days and it's become something of a routine. I don't feel like I'm on a diet. So my why is to be…
  • Log everything. I think I'm on a 70 day streak of logging my food on mfp. It keeps me honest and prevents me from overeating.
  • I don't know much about 21 day fixes, but for me personally, cutting carbs has led to great results. I try to stick to around 50g a day, some days it's more or less. If you're trying to cut carbs, you may need to add fat to your diet. Also go to the low carb forums for more information.
