Ginuwine - Pony! I think of Channing Tatum dancing to it in Magic Mike and those abs inspire me to keep moving.

Two and a half weeks is not a plateau. Stick with it and the weight will eventually come off. I think HIIT is a great idea but also see what little changes you could make to your diet. For example, I notice a bit of a stall when I eat too much cheese.

The one time I got some unsolicited advice from a loud obnoxious dude, I was totally annoyed and somewhat embarrassed. He wasn't exactly discreet and he was loudly correcting me in front of a lot of people. However, I did listen to him and now my squat form is much better! I think it's okay to offer unsolicited advice as…

I tried to offset my massive calorie intake this weekend by riding my bike a lot and doing some intense circuit training, but you can't out-exercise a bad diet! Pancakes, brownies, ice cream, lemon cake, cheese and crackers, wine, etc. After taking an epic fall, I'm back on the wagon today! Definitely not going to…

One of my interim goals was to fit into a particular pair of shorts by July 4th. I hadn't worn them since the summer of 2012. I wore them on July 3rd! Now I have a dress that I'm aiming to wear by Labor Day.

When I started doing squats two-three times a week, the soreness went away.

Aww, sometimes you gotta let the big man show his little wife how to do something difficult! That's very sweet of him but I totally get why you were annoyed. Next time let him show you and laugh to yourself afterwards.

Yes!!! Look at my ticker! Sometimes I think I am successful just because I look forward to the thrill on those days that I get to enter a new lower weight into MFP! It sure keeps me motivated.

I hope you make it through this tough time in your marriage, whether you decide to stay with your husband, seek counseling, or get a divorce. You deserve to be happy and loved. :flowerforyou: With respect to your specific question, I am lucky to have a very supportive husband, but it was not until I committed to changing…

Lace short shorts!!!! Oh yeah!

The usual stuff, clothes not fitting well. But for the first time, my bra straps were digging into my shoulders. It made me so angry! So I started lifting weights. But I didn't change my diet. Then I gained twelve pounds and I got even angrier! That finally motivated me to get serious about my diet and cut all the sugary…

I don't have a set cheat day, although weekends tend to be more naturally indulgent. Which is why I try to behave and work out on Saturdays and Sundays. I also try not to do a cheat day, but rather, a cheat meal. But these days, it feels like even the slightest variation from my diet contributes to a stall in my losses. So…

Thanks! I will try manually adjusting. I really enjoyed eating 1600 calories a day, I guess it's time to face reality, lol.
-
Are you kidding? I'm definitely logging what I weigh as I lose weight! That's the time I enjoy mfp the most! I haven't noticed my app adjusting my allotted calories downward as I lose so I suppose I'll do it manually. How much should I decrease by? 50? 100?

I think it's for people who are struggling to get the last few pounds off their bodies. I'm curious about it too and if you search the forums you'll find more information. I'm still trying to get my weight down before I try this tactic.

Four pounds in a month isn't that slow so you should feel encouraged! Don't give up! Maybe you are pushing yourself too hard though. It sounds like you're working out so much. Do you find yourself ravenously hungry? Are you working out so much that you're eating back what you burned and then some? Otherwise it sounds like…

Amazing and inspirational story! Thank you for sharing and congrats on your success! You look beautiful!

Thanks for the feedback and insights everyone! I will aim to keep my cheese intake in check given my usual carb intake of 60-80g. However, I'm going to try harder to get myself below 50g every day. I'm thinking of doing this next week and see what that does.
-
Thank you everyone! Next time I'm feeling lazy I'll revisit this thread! Alidecker did you go swim?
-
Yes, I also have to keep the amount of cheese i consume in check, despite the fact it's low carb.

Wow that strikes me as a lack of variety. I would suggest working some other foods in, just so you don't go crazy. Like pork tenderloin, salads, avocado, sliced turkey (I don't judge the processed foods, sometimes that's the only way you can get through a day on a low carb diet), berries (lower in sugar than apples and…

Thank you for your words of encouragement. After I posed this, I was on MFP forums another five minutes and realized how silly I was being, so I went and worked out!

The weight loss has been somewhat slow for me but I am feeling confident that in three months, I will have lost another ten pounds. Good question, OP! Sometimes in the daily grind of this journey, it's hard to visualize the long-term. I really had to think about where I see myself in September. Yes, I will be ten more…

Yes, I think this is important. I think I was eating too much cheese which ultimately was putting me over my calorie goal for the day, but not my carb goal. I'm four months in and still trying to strike the right balance!
-
Jim, how many carbs a day do you eat to stay in ketosis? I know it would be different for me, but just curious. There seems to be a lot of different opinions on this site as to what constitutes "low carb." I just read a forum post where someone claimed they were eating low carb by eating 100g-150g of carbs a day. To me,…

That thought has crossed my mind. However, I tend to believe that below 50g is not sustainable for me. But if the consensus is that cheese is not going to hurt me, it's the daily carb intake of 60g-80g that leads to the plateau, then perhaps that is my problem, not the cheese. Like I said in my original post though, I…
-
Then maybe it's not cheese but the other foods I am eating. I stick to 60-80g of carbs a day, maybe it's time to reduce.
-
Thanks for replying. No, I don't have trouble with dairy. I recently switched to unsweetened almond milk in my coffee for the lower carb content. And I eat plain greek yogurt two or three times a week. I swear that cheese isn't helping my weight loss though.
-
You can get rid of the carb cravings by...not eating carbs...lol. I realize it's not that simple! I would suggest that for a week, you limit your carb sources to fruits, vegetables, and plain greek yogurt. For a week, cut out the pasta, rice, sugar, bread, etc. See how that makes you feel. Don't shy away from fat,…

Personally, I find it much easier to stick to a diet that has me eating around 60g of carbs a day. Maybe the weight loss is a little slower, but it is easier for me to maintain than if I were eating only 20g of carbs a day. I try to do at least one very low carb day a week, right around 20g, and I find that this helps.…
