  • I just started yesterday. I’ve never done it to phase two yet but I am bound and determined to finish! I’m also going low carb. I’m serious about losing this excess weight.
  • I am fascinated by this and everyone’s weight loss progress on Keto. I’m going to start after the holidays along with restarting an exercise program (30 Day Shred and using my Running for Weight Loss app). I was vegetarian for 11 months. But after losing only 8 lb in that amount of time, it’s made me realize that…
  • I highly recommend blending kale, spinach, or parsley with some water and then pouring the mix into silicone ice trays and putting them in the freezer. After a while, I empty each into freezer bags and continue the process so that I have a bunch ready to use as needed. This has been a life saver for me when it comes to…
  • Coconut milk, almond milk, cashew milk, soy milk, and hemp milk are all wonderful alternatives to cow's milk. Personally I do not like the taste of any of the hemp milks I've tried but others might feel differently. As far as cheese is concerned, there is Daiya vegan cheeses. I'm not a fan of the tastes of any vegan…
  • Expanding on the comment above re: coffee and potassium, according to the USDA, 8 fl oz. of coffee contains 116 mg of potassium and 8 fl. oz. of decaffeinated coffee contains 128 mg of potassium.
  • Vegan black bean burger with pickles and chips (I only ate a couple and gave the rest to my husband) for lunch. Large salad with homemade dressing for dinner. Ate a raspberry-cashew-chia bar after dinner. Drank coffee and water throughout the day and enjoying jasmine oolong tea this evening.
  • Hi there. I go back and forth with it but renewed my commitment to being vegetarian and trying to be as close to vegan as I can be but not pressuring myself to be perfect as that usually sets me up for failure. Good luck to you!
  • I third this. Every time I start a running routine, my left ankle acts up. It's definitely my body's weak spot so I have to be really careful with it. KT Tape has been really helpful for me. And this post reminds me that I really should buy more!
  • This is what I brought with me to work today: Breakfast Cherry + mixed berry smoothie Lunch Chopped salad + pomegranate vinaigrette And water, water, water.
  • My two favorite videos are Saddle Bag Shaver and Inner Thigh Insanity. Both rock!
  • I *really* needed to see this, thank you.
  • I'm still a little nervous about running in public. When I run outside it is usually at night due to my work schedule and because I don't want to run in public, but running alone at night in the city is a bit dangerous so I mostly stick to running on a treadmill. If my fiance comes with me, I enjoy running outside. I…
  • My fiance and I pay $11 a month (combined) for our gym membership. It costs more if you want a personal trainer. But there are no classes. It's basically just your standard workout equipment with trainers available. I wish the gym had a pool though. I'd really prefer a 24/7 gym but the nearest one to my apartment is about…
  • My sister did a mud run and had a blast. I don't think I'm ready for that quite yet (I struggled through my first 5K last Saturday) but it is definitely a goal of mine for the future.
  • Actually, it's called the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition, Text Revision (DSM-IV-TR). :) eta: This is just me being snarky. I love the DSM-IV-TR. I kind of geek out about it, really.
  • This is the app I have on my iPhone. It's called C25K free. I also downloaded C210K free for when I complete the 5K.
  • The purpose of diagnoses are for treatment purposes. That does not always mean medications. However, for disorders such as Bipolar disorder (and for the record, once a person has a manic episode, they no longer meet the diagnostic requirements for Major Depressive Disorder or Dysthymia; they will always have the dx of…
  • I start Week 6, Day 1 tomorrow! Yay me!
  • This is something that should be done while wearing at HRM. That way you know for sure. :)
  • Awesome! Congratulations! I'm running my first 5K race in August. Currently starting Week 6, Day 1 of C25K tomorrow.

  • You look great, lady! Congratulations!
  • Tomorrow I will be on Week 5, Day 3. I'm so nervous. The longest I have ever ran straight through was 8 minutes. Well tomorrow it has me going 20 minutes straight. I really don't think I'm ready for that! I quit smoking four months ago - I hope my lungs are ready for this! I have to watch my ankles too. They've been a bit…
  • Wow! Congratulations! I start Week 5, Day 2 today and I am scared. Although I am able to run the 5 minutes straight, it still is a challenge for me. I didn't realize it would progress so quickly until I read your post. I was like "What? I'm not running for 20 minutes straight and I'm on week 5." Then I looked at my C25K…
  • Great job! And congratulations on being clean from opiates and quitting smoking. All three of these are a battle in and of themselves but to conquer all at once - that's just incredible. You rock!
  • Potatoes are great. They are very high in potassium, which is essential. It's when they're fried that they aren't good for you. Remember to eat the skin as that is where the majority of their nutrients are located.
  • This is the perfect response to this entire thread. Spoken like a true therapist. :)
  • Keep going, weight fluctuations by +/- a few lbs are normal. I doubt you gained 1 lb. of fat overnight. Don't give up, just keep at it.

  • Your husband is definitely insecure - not just about himself but it seems he's also insecure about your relationship. Maybe inviting him to go on walks with you or go to the gym with you, prepare healthy meals together, etc. will help him see that you want him to be an active participant in the journey toward a healthier…
  • At first I am able to breathe in and out of my nose. But I am not concentrating on my speed, I'm concentrating on lengthening the time I'm jogging compared to the time I'm walking (I'm doing the C25K program). Once that is not enough air, I start exhaling through my mouth, breathing in through my nose. If I'm picking up…
