  • I have just weighed up the relative benefits of One and Flex and read all the reviews on Amazon UK, as a result of which I've just ordered a One. Lack of a screen and longevity issues with the Flex band were my main reasons for going for the One.

  • Tell me about it, we don't really need it much. I bought a large portable aircon about 7 or 8 years ago during a particularly hot weekend and since then I doubt if we've had more than about 15-20 days' use out of it. It's working now downstairs where my wife is, though I'm working in my office upstairs without any benefit!…
  • @alliek23 - Welcome, you will find plenty of support here! @jane - I've ordered this one - http://www.withings.com/en/bodyanalyzer - should be with me today. I've also pre-ordered this - http://www.withings.com/en/pulse - to go along with it, though that is only released in the UK on 16th August so I'll have to wait for a…
  • The only way to get 'clean' food is to wash it in a good detergent and rinse thoroughly.
  • Another quick check in - pics from my India visit on my blog - http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/ron2e Great trip back, got an upgrade to Business with air miles so had a seat that converted to a lie flat bed, the best way to travel long haul! I weighed myself when I got back Sunday afternoon and was the same as when I left…
  • Basically a myth. Like people who won't eat stuff "With a lot of chemicals". Everything, even you and me, is made up of chemicals. As for 'processed' food, what's cooking if it's not processing? Deadly nightshade, Death cap mushrooms, for example, are natural, non processed, but hardly good for you. It depends what's in…
  • Do fat fish have scales? I don't know the answer to that but I'd be naked without and with mine............

  • As usual this week, not a lot of time as I'm off to Delhi an about half an hour's time. Pics to follow, the company connection in India won't allow me to upload to photobucket and the hotel wifi kept dropping out, so it will have to wait until I get home Sunday afternoon. Had a great week, very enjoyable, and tomorrow get…
  • Hi all, Don't have a lot of time to post, but I've written my first impressions of India into my blog - http://www.myfitnesspal.com/blog/ron2e - more to come later plus pics. Keep going you wonderful people!!
  • I gave up smoking 20+ years ago, and is the principal reason I put on so much weight, food just tasted so damned good! I still enjoy my alcohol, though I've given up the Guinness (I'm of Irish extraction though born in Scotland!) and moved to malt whisky/whiskey. 200 calories for a pint as against 65ish for a shot is no…
  • 72 hours? Wrong! Google "Starvation mode myth".

  • Absolutely right! And goes along with "If you haven't done anything wrong you have nothing to fear" when the government wants to clamp down even further on your liberty. I would not trust a politician further than I could throw him/her. In my opinion the wish to become a politician should preclude one from becoming one!

  • Does no-one realise how serious this is, it is frankly IMPOSSIBLE to lose weight when your toilet paper hangs under!!
  • Nobody is arguing that some processed foods are not bad for you, nor that different countries have differing regulations on food additives. However this has nothing to do with 'clean' eating, or 'cleansing toxins'. I am an advocate of eating healthily, even if I don't always follow my own advice but eating healthily and…

  • These are the imaginary toxins that one needs to 'cleanse' from the body supposedly. Hey, if she thinks she's cleansing toxins, where's the harm in that even if it has no scientific basis, people believe in all sorts of strange things!

  • In defence of the guy who made the comment, I didn't and still can't see anything nasty in it, I thought it was ironic and funny.
  • @Meg - hehe about the boobies! Sorry you wouldn't let your sons see them, did you blindfold them when breast feeding? LOL. Be careful about running when it's very hot. Having suffered from heat exhaustion (a precursor to the much more dangerous heat stroke) through playing squash when it was very hot (in my much younger…
  • Google "Starvation mode myth". That will tell you all you need to know.
  • Oh yeah?? What if Matt Smith died?
  • Not affected, but I felt sad at John Lennon's death, partly because it was my adolescence disappearing with him, and it happened at a time when he was getting his life in order and things looked good. Also sad at Freddie Mercury's death, that last video of him singing "Days of our lives" gets to me every time.
  • Jasmine, try to move to high cocoa solid dark chocolate, you need a lot less of it. I used to be a chocaholic, Cadburys in particular, but have moved to dark chocolate and have 3 or 4 pieces a day, 55 calories to 73 calories. My taste has changed too, milk choc I find too sweet now, and dark chocolate which I used to think…
  • Yep, totally agree this is the home of Bro-science, anecdotal evidence, snake oil, misinformation and magic. Common sense has no place here
  • I had one or two people who I hadn't seen for a couple of months ask when I'd dropped about 30 lbs if I'd lost weight. People are starting to see a difference now at 55 lbs off though not everyone notices.
  • Well said, so true!

  • Specially for Meg - http://vimeo.com/28615148 And almost inevitably, though I cast no aspersions - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VMnjF1O4eH0 purely included as the two songs ran together in the Queen 'Jazz' album and I like it!
  • You may find that's just water and after you've been home a few days drinking normally, it will disappear. It happens to me every time, I come back after five days away and weigh the same or more than I did before I left. But over the next three days I lose up to 6 lbs (3lbs over to 3 lbs under in 3 days!)
  • I'm the opposite I work from home about 50% of the time, the rest is travelling, hotels, restaurants, etc. When I'm away from home I tend not to drink so much and restaurant meals tend to have a lot of salt for flavour so I retain water which disappears in the first three days back home drinking normally. Also at home I am…
  • @Meg - listen girl, you want training, I'm your man, you wanna lose weight, I can do that, I don't think you really appreciate how wonderful I actually am! I am the epitome of don't do what I do, do what I say, I am partially evil and partially....er.... not so evil, I am the omega and the beta (WTF?) and talk a lot of…
  • Good grief that is a wonderful NSV and one I hadn't thought of! Crossing your legs...... who would have thought, but of course you are right! Congratulations on an amazing and very valid NSV!
  • Or as Lennon said, Ringo wasn't even the best drummer in the Beatles
