  • Yes, I think that also... but she seemed very precise when we had a look at her typical day. I suggested her to register her food here at least for a week or two, and to get her calorie burn with a step tracker, for example (but, if she really has a very high metabolism, then the tracker will underestimate her burn)
  • She was always thin, very thin, since she was a baby. The same for her high temperature. She is kind of a whole degree more than the average. She checked the thyroid and it's ok.
  • Ah, she doesn't exercise, she just walk and such (we estimated a bit more of an hour of walk every day), in her work she is on her feet all the day but she doesn't have to lift heavy weights or similar. She is not very tall, but not short.
  • I'm losing weight, I started increasing my exercises, and now I think I'll try some of the links the guys here suggested... I'm not in a hurry, I like the idea to start something different... with no rush. Thank you!
  • Thanks again... and another question. An example, to see if I understood correctly. I have to carry an heavy backpack. And travel, and walk a lot with that heavy bag. If a do just cardio while in deficit, I will be able to carry it longer, but I will feel always the same strain. If I start progressive overload with the…
  • Thanks! This makes sense, to me. And then, increasing the amount of work appear easier with weight lifting than with what here you call cardio. Easier in the sense that if you want to work more, you increase the weight :) not in the sense that it doesn't take a LOT of effort :) May I ask... what about.. if you are toned…
  • Anyway, it may very well be that I'm already doing a bit of bodyweight, like some said. I admit that also the word "cardio" don't mean nothing particular to me, I use it because everyone else is using it. Now I learn that it means that it is good for the heart :) For me, everything is/was just "exercise". I'm trying to…
  • Well, at the beginning I just wanted to lose weight. Recently, with 39 pound off of my body, I started to think that I can also improve my fitness, like you say, have a toned body, and be stronger. Physically stronger. Anyway, some of you are saying that also cardio improve the muscle, just not as resistance. Some say…
  • First of all, thank you all! I'm reading -and I think that I'll re-read- all of your answers. Still, some of my questions remain... you say that one need resistance to build muscle. I believe you, I'm not arguing. But... why? Aren't the muscle moving in both cases? Now, some cardio that was painful at the beginning start…
  • This is reassuring, thanks! I still would like to understand a bit more, but just this is already good to read :)
  • Hi! I'm not familiar with your issues, but I can say that starting usually is difficult for everybody. Everybody feels, at the beginning, how insuperable are the difficulties of finding space, time, the right exercise. I may tell you that with time, while you start to see and FEEL the pro of exercising, you will find a…
  • Vegetal carbon is good for the gas. But if you take it too much (and I don't know how much it is) it gives you constipation. I would go for the seamstress... you should be focused on your wedding and your love, it's a pity to live in a hell the week before...
  • I think that sometimes any of us may be a little too touchy. Sometimes, other people don't mean anything bad about us, and still we feel insulted. This is a thing that's completely uncorrelated with dieting and food. It's just a thing that I noticed a lot... people that get offended by remarks (not mine) that I find…
  • You should meet my brother :) Every time he starts a new eating style, he immediately forgets that he was all for the style before and every thing else become "crap, foolish, nonsense". A tease him a lot :) but only for the reason above... last time he explained me that the whole calorie business is crap, foolish,…
  • I eat clean. I always clean my vegs before cooking it.
  • European here :) Yes, we are(were) used to a big breakfast, big lunch, poor dinner. When life was less complicated, and the more common work was agriculture. You need fuel during the day to work the soil and do all that stuff! And if in the evening you are hungry... who cares, you are going bed! Now even here things have…
  • When I started exercise, it was difficult, I wasn't used to that kind of stuff :) so to motivate me I usually thought about the treat that those calories would have allowed me :) Now, I started to like moving!
  • Wow. But what are they made of?
  • And anyway, eating italian food it's not all that bad (but I'm biased LOL)
  • This. And then, maybe 1200 is too low for you. Maybe even in deficit you may allow for something more. And then, in maintenance, you will have even more. And exercising, even even more. If you are suffering so much, it means that you have not found yet the way of sustenability, the lifetime change that you can enjoy and…
  • I think they are envious of your achievement... you look beautiful and healthy! And yes, I would have been hurt by my family commenting like that... hugs!
  • Well, calorie counting, simply, has effective results. Eating "intuitively", does not. Except for very few people that has a beautiful relationship with food and with their body needs (a friend of mine is like this, but she is the only one I know!) While it is important to eat all the macro and micro nutrients our body…
  • My daughter is 5, but I shared your apprehension that she could pick the wrong idea that "food is bad" or something like that. So, I told her almost since the beginning that I was going to be healthier so that I could play better with her :) and I always found a way to tell her how she is perfectly made, how her body is as…
  • Also this. My daughter is 5, and she helps me putting in the fridge the food from the supermarket, and by ordering her stuff, little things that she, at her age, can easily do. At 11 maybe I wouldn't ask my daughter to do laundry, but to wash the dishes, yes, and clean a bit around the house. It's good for her, in my…
  • A little step at a time. Maybe you cannot find the energy to add more exercise also because you are stressed, and because of all the extra weight you have -I think. At least, when I began, I thought I couldn't find in any way the time for exercise... and now, I'm starting to do it regularly (more or less :) ) And, anyway,…
  • I'm already ashamed of what I suggested! Don't do that!
  • Had some bad news today so I feel nasty enough.... if the jealousy is at its peak, eat in front of her something delicious :) (within your calories obviously!)
  • You already know everything. You know that your path is the right one for you. Yes, envy is normal, but the only person that envy affects, is you. And you are realizing that too. Don't lower your cals. You are doing well. And you can overcome the envy just as you do when you decide, every day, to stay under your caloric…
  • I liked sooo much a book from Umberto Eco, The Name of the Rose. It was (also) on the intense desire of people to believe in impossible things. Their will of fooling themselves even ignoring the simple truth. Like truth is too simple, they want something complicated, they want Mu and Atlantis and Roosvelt were killed by…
