The stats are not vastly different. With regular sodas (fizzy flavoured soft drinks), one cops a massive sugar hit and abundant calories. With diet versions of very similar flavoured products, aspartame, saccharine or stevia might get the calorie count down (maybe zero to 35 calories per glass) but the chemical load is…

Don't be concerned. The trend is good. Keep at it. On April 1, 2014, I began this effort ... I wanted to be 26kg lighter after one year and, five weeks out, it looks like I may not make it. Currently 18kg lighter (39+ pounds) and I'm happy about that because it's a good trend. Be impressed that you are getting there.

I am 59. I'm male and I know that 99% of people who weigh and log what they eat accurately do well or very well at this. People who increase any level of exercise do even better. Just don't estimate. Be certain. You have calculated how many calories to feed yourself per day to lose about a pound per week (or, say, a…

Mamameaof2kiddos has great teeth and intense eyes but I don't think she'd be interested in some retirement age "old Man" leering at her.

HollieMGC looks great but she'd probably pass on a 60yo man who hasn't shaved this week.

Great changes in progress this last year. Congratulations.

Stunning success! Cheers.

I am impressed. You have done an amazing job. I'm on a lifestyle change via MFP. Started (Oct 2006: at 191.8 kilograms (422.8 pounds) I lost some, went through so yo-yo fluctuations and found myself at 175 kg (385.8 pounds) on March 31, 2014. Since April 1, I renewed my gym membership and made sure I do at least four days…

Superb effort so far. Good on you. As my old counsellor told me, "NOTHING TASTES ANYWHERE NEAR AS GOOD AS THE FEELING OF BEING SLIMMER IN PHOTOGRAPHS OF YOURSELF." She's right. I.m down from a 162 centimetre waist to 147cm. That's a powerful feeling.

I tend to exercise 700-1100 calories four times per week. Having "exercise calories" or "spare calories" is handy on days when one has unmissable community, work-related or family events. Five and a half months ago, when I restarted with MFP, I used to eat almost all my exercise calories every day. In the last three weeks,…

You're doing well to survive a low total of 1330 and be able to come in under. Well done for that. I have no answers.

1200 is hard work and masses of self-control for someone used to more. It would be a very short, slight adult that survives on 1200 calories. I am 177cm (69.5 inches) and am carrying a mass of 163+ kilograms (390 pounds). I set 2075 calories with 25 minutes walking as my daily targets. My hope is that I get a trend going…

Not the least bit attractive on anyone. The biggest turn off. My pal, Ronald, said it all ... a couple of years after his wife won a massive legal settlement for a workplace injury, Robyn spent $62000 on tattoos for pretty much every bit of skin on her body. I asked him what he thought of the final result. "It's like…

Thirty fresh green stringless beans - average 100mm (or 10cm or 4") long. Dock the pointy ends and then rinse under the tap. Eat while crisp. Fresh flavoursome snack at approx 48-50 calories. Only 2g-3g (natural) sugar. 5g-6g fibre. A great crunchy, sweet tasting snack. Very filling!

Ditto my experience with my second wife. She was basically a hot chips (french fries) and tomato person. The recipe I just posted was three of the first five meals I cooked for her when she moved in (June 2007). She now thinks roast "bag" vege cubes are just great. Got her into salad veges by various cuttings &…

I like to cut up several cleaned jacket potatoes, a quarter pumpkin, three medium-large carrots, and a few sweet potatoes. I aim for "cubes" of about 4-6cm (2 inches). Drop all the cubes into a large strong plastic bag. Add a tablespoon (or 2) of olive oil. Knead and rotate the plastic bag until each cube has a thin olive…

These two were your best advice from my experience. Good call!

Agree with your first tip but I would amend your second tip to read: - NEVER eat ALL your workout calories.

Great research article. Great for anyone pondering the possibilities. Thanks for posting.
