I look at it this way - the 400 calories for the tofu is going to be 400 with water or without. So 1/4 of your water full tofu = 100 calories. 1/4 of your pressed tofu = 100 calories. I may not be explaining this correctly. When I bake tofu for salads/other uses throughout the week I do the following to get the correct…

Log after pressing. Divide by 4 - that number of grams = 1 serving. It isn't perfect, but it will be close enough, unless you eat tofu for every meal.

You can. Just add "Cheddar cheese gram" to the search field and you will find it. I always add "gram" in the search field, it makes finding a gram entry easy.

For some reason it won't allow me to post in technical support so I am trying here.

Running is hard, and takes a totally different kind of effort than anything else. Choose an 8 week program that incorporates walking and running and slowly make your way through. Some tips though: Get fitted for shoes. Start running, then run slower, still slower. Even if you can walk faster run as slowly as possible to…

I wouldn't take any of the advice too literally except the go slow. There are days I only breathe through my mouth, days when I go in and out through my nose. Though I have developed a regular cadence, it doesn't work all the time, and what works for one person certainly doesn't work for another. If you can't run for more…

It will take time. Running for me is unlike any other exercise and when I take any time off (I run through the year now, but used to break in the winter due to snow) it was my lungs that took the longest to catch back up. You will build up your cardiovascular fitness, but that isn't necessarily tied to the rest of your…

In my area we have Maine Running Company. I would do a google search for a "specialty running shoe store" and see what pops up in your area. I know there are nationwide chains like Fleet Feet, but they aren't everywhere. If the store does them they should advertise it on their site, or you could call. Ideally they will…

Best advice is: Visit a store where they will do a gait analysis and tell you what kind of shoe you should get. I wear a New Balance 860V, but that is what works for my foot. Everyone is different, and as you saw, there are so many different kinds. Good luck!

I don't have much to add here. You need to be fitted, so do a search and find a local store that does them. Everyone's feet, gait and needs are different. Good shoes and good form are what will keep you from injury, so invest in learning about both.

Layers, layers, layers, and then it is fine. I ran last night and it was about 5 degrees before factoring in the wind chill. Dressing appropriately allowed me to get in an hour run. Being prepared is the most important, and even when it isn't that cold I have several different weight neck and face warmers because breathing…

As a single mom who dates, can I say that opening your life up to someone you have been casually dating for three months can be too soon for some people? It isn't about the kids being at the house, it is giving the address of the house where your children live to someone who you may not know all that well. It is different…

I should have added right away that my daughter and I had a frank discussion after the "diet" comment and she is a healthy child, but it made me very sad for girls today, thinking about it.
-
I think a good place to start would be to ask your daughter why she would ask about it. I have a 10 year old, and we don't ever talk about calories, but she is concerned about needing to be on a "diet". She doesn't, but our kids are very aware of what is going on. My advice would be to be careful how you talk about your…

I am also a bit confused as to why her roll up would be unhealthy? A healthy diet for a growing kid should include all of those things. Certainly little debbie snack cakes are treats and should be treated as such, but healthy fats and carbs should not be. Another note: I never keep food in the house that I wouldn't eat as…

I wouldn't worry about any of it. I have never ever been done by an awards ceremony and have never missed it. If it is a larger event, they are giving out money to elite runners. The awards ceremony should in no way make it seem like they want you to finish by then. I run in a large 10K every year - The Beach to Beacon and…

I missed the part where you said make ahead. I will say that I have in the past made the oatmeal ahead, just warm it up with a bit of milk and it is just like new.
-
We love oatmeal at my house. Here is what we do - 3 servings 1 cup of regular oats - not quick oats approximately 2 cups of vanilla soy milk - without sugar a tablespoon or so of shredded coconut handful of golden raisins And if we have some cut up fresh apples or pineapples I put that on the stove on low and it is ready…

Pavement is certainly harder on the joints, but I don't feel a huge difference in terms of distance I can run. Is it hills? You mentioned your trail course is flat, and the indoor track is flat. When I jumped to street running, the constant change in elevation, even on what looks to be a flat area, very challenging at…

Great job! I have been running for three years, and it took almost two to break through and "feel" like a runner. I do the Beach to Beacon 10K each summer, and this year got a PR for time, but even more important was that it felt great! And I am someone who complains about every first mile every time I run. 2.5 miles is…

I'm in. I need a kick in the pants, and an excuse to learn how to post pictures. Thanks!
